That Alice Ghostly RIP, she was great I can't believe how much she reminded me of Paul Lynde and she played on Bewitched too she will be missed, great natural actress, thanks for the memories this is just great xx
Yes, Alice Ghostley was a fabulously talented actress and performer! She had the ability to pull comedy out of almost anything! She was great in "Bewitched"... I can see how she'd remind you of Paul Lynde. They both make you laugh no matter what they're doing.
I'm glad you enjoyed this, and you're most welcome! :)
"Oh mighty prince of unemployment"! Boom boom! Thanks for uploading this- I used to watch these when I was in highschool and they just improve with age !
99 has changed since the earlier episodes I have on VHS. She's more than just 'wallpaper' (as Barbara Feldon has described her role). I can't wait to get the DVDs.
Yes, Barbara was given much more to work with as the series progressed. 99 became a lot less 2D starting somewhere in season 3. In season 4 & 5 she was even given some of the jokes. It's nice to see 99 as a more defined character.
If Barbara hadn't hit just the right note with her portrayal, 99 would have simply become wallpaper permanantly and faded. It's to Barbara's credit that she made 99 so memorable and likable.
I am in the minority (among committed GS fans) in saying that I really did not like the Sigfried character; but regardless if you liked that character or not, surely the Farkases could have gotten another episode if you can give Sigfried 15! Not to mention the Craw (two); Harry Hoo (two); 99's mother (five); The Admiral (four), etc.
After years of pondering this critical question (which episode of GS was my all-time favorite) I decided this one is. Great one, from the warehous scene, to the jokes which Alice Ghostley gets off with Barbara in the kitchen, to the interaction between Tom and Alice, to Don and Ed's reaction to the poison, etc. I think the Farkases should have been allowed at least one more appearance. Tom Bosley and Alice Ghostley had great comic chemistry of their own here.
I still can't choose my very favorite episode... I guess I need to keep rewatching the series! What a chore :D
While I don't have a #1, this is definitely in my top ten. I love it for all the reasons that you've listed and I definitely agee that we should have seen the Farkases again! I certainly prefer them to The Craw.
Bosley and Ghostley were just great together... awesome chemistry! :)

Edward Platt gets my vote as the funniest straight man in TV history. The things that guy put up with, and with a straight face the whole time too.
