  • Who's the tenor sax player?

  • I have this man's cassette.

  • @gospelkeys07 If you've succeed maybe you could consider hosting on-line for everyone to enjoy?

  • Miles & Clifford were different parts of the same pig. Great, from the same animal but tasted different, that's all......

  • 1 accidental push has been recorded

  • @gospelkeys07 don't forget to learn it in all keys :P

  • Definitely my next venture for keys and kit.

  • The reason for clifford's death: miles got jealous.

  • @plegentil Why do you think Miles would got jealous?

  • @jazzdrummerful cus clifford was amazing, i'm not judging on who's better cuz that's impossible to do, but that was just a way to say that he was just amazing, he died too young

  • Hey did anybody else realize that that's Miles Davis in the picture and not Clifford Brown?

  • C'mon...you guys all know that Miles was Clifford Brown's brother...his SOUL brother!!

  • Thanks for sharing such a great tune. FYI - the man pictured is actually Miles Davis, not Clifford Brown.

  • DePaul guitar audition is this tune. Pretty tough head.

  • Yeah fooled me at first because I know this album and the other one Clifford did back to front inside out every single part.

It is a shame you have Mile's picture because folk do look different you know ha ha.

  • sanity check... the picture's Miles, right?

  • Not an easy head to play on clarinet, but I'm gonna nail it...someday, lol!

  • benny golson?

  • @bandreification I think it's Harold Land

  • whos tenor player

  • I Love Clifford!!!!!!

  • Clean and effortless centred playing (trumpet) no over blowingevery change delineated and a beautiful full sound across the whole range of the instrument. Add to that incredible musicality and an articulation that is really compelling.

  • awesome drum solo

  • I transcribed Cliffords solo on this. So good. Definitely one of my favorites. :)

  • I'm so obsessed with this tune right now. Can't get enough! Finally memorized the head, yaaaay :)

  • I'm playin Clifford's solo for my college jazz audition. awesome piece!!

  • @afbg1988

HAHA_....you are a piano player right ?....c´mon you dont know nothing about trumpets, thats why i dont like most pianist comentaries, they want a fragile sound players like Baker or Davis, the trumpet is not a flute or guitar, OK they were excellent idiomatic players but clifford was a better trumpet than Miles or Chet.

  • Listen to the structure of Cliffords solo. Not a wated note but each done with purpose as it builds and the harmony is clear, and a big fat clear, honest, brave and sincere tone

No wonder a whole shool of trumpeters came out of him..

To call him brilliant is not enough.

  • @mumbleora Very true words!!!

  • this track is great.... the head played so smooth and mellow

  • Clifford Brown's solo on this song may very well be the best solo I have ever heard. Also of note is the tasteful comping.

  • Also, who's that sax player?

  • This song is stupid hard. ):

  • @SupahflyJazzguy

    Okay...

  • @Gabepaullikegirls Clifford Brown died in 1956 so he never even had a chance to compete with Miles in his later years. What Clifford was doing at the same time as Miles in the 50s was years ahead of him. Your point is invalid. Miles dies at age 65, Clifford only made it to age 25.

  • @afbg1988

Miles couldn't be compared to Brownie or such likes as Lee Morgan, Maggie, Fats Navarro...

  • What a genius and you know him by his sound and approach. I hear where Blue Mitchell and others adopted his approach.

  • I'm not sure why you have this tagged with Miles Davis, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington, except to get more hits. The quintet consists of

    Trumpet: Clifford Brown

    Drums: Max Roach

    Tenor Sax: Harold Land

    Piano: Richie Powell

    Bass Georges Morrow

  • @karinablacktie - I'm pretty sure that's Sonny Rollins on Tenor! Harold Land was a drummer if I remember correctly...unless there's another cat w/the same name.

  • @holygroove2 nah man, Harold Land was the Tenor, Max Roach was the drummer

  • @holygroove2 Harold Started with the quintet and left later. He was replaced by Sonny Rollins

  • @karinablacktie - I thought it was Sonny Rollins on Tenor? I'll have to check that out....I know it's Sonny Rollins on the "Clifford Brown and Max Roach at Basin Street" record.

  • from 2:30 to 2:36 at right here i couldn't understand what kind of sound ? authentic or artificial ?

  • @burrcak if you're referring to cliffords playing. it's a special way of tonguing that allows brass players to accent the note without breaking the sound

  • @floripondo jaja si verdad parece que miles la escribio segun la foto

  • so killin

  • 1:17 soooo nice

  • @OGfern Not always nice to play. The chord progression can be a nightmare.

  • Great tune! You can hear the sheer joy of music making in Brown's beautifully constructed solo. At times it sounds like he's singing through his horn. What a tragedy to lose this great artist at such a young age.

  • hahah with a picture of miles davis. so killin

  • I truly enjoy this tune.

  • Is that sonny taking the first solo?

  • @jazzcat5 It has to be. I know sonny's tone from anywhere

  • HEY EVERYONE

THE MILES PICTURE IS THE DEFAULT PICTURE FOR EVERY VIDEO

  • @TheJazzplaylist , hey, just so you know, that guy in the photo is not Clifford Brown.

  • @TheJazzplaylist

    Skip the Miles crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @helluvagun Miles is so much a legend that I could slap him on a video of "Cyanide" by Metallica and it would perfectly acceptable.

  • @TheJazzplaylist

    this picture is Miles

  • @TheJazzplaylist i agree

  • THIS IS BROWNIE NOT MILES!

  • @AieshaB it's important to give the right man the credit he deserves, just to say.

  • Miles Davis is definitely in the picture and it is Clifford Brown playing the trumpet. It is more important to enjoy this wondeful piece of art !

  • LOL Miles Davis

  • Isn't that Miles Davis?

  • A photo of the Brown-Roach quintet instead of Miles Davis would be good.

  • Respond to this video... this is the funniest vid ive seen in a while

  • you need to change that pic.

  • What a solo by Clifford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • But is this great, joyful music, or what!?

  • Wrong pic....for right tune...

  • Lol!

I am the 1337 th view.

    Owned!

  • lol, why do u have a pic of miles

  • Why Miles' picture?
