Among other things, passing is what makes Barcelona such an amazing team. Messi is not the only one in the team who does this kind of passes, although he IS amazing.
I've always thought Messi's passing ability/vision is as good/if not better than Iniesta/Xavi's, I completely agree with the top comment it is very underrated, people are blinded by the fact he can dribble through 7-8 players with his eyes closed, and fail to see probably the best part of his play, which is those incredibly weighted and extremely clever through balls.

It is too bad not all his teammates can finish as well as he does but he gives them chances! I also like how he doesn't take the fake falls so many (90%?) other players do. He stays on his feet and scores a goal instead. Has he ever stopped playing and thrown his arms out in supplication for a call he thought he deserved? If he is knocked down he might make a brief look at the offender but only if the whistle blows, otherwise he's up and at it. What a model.

Spain was not as impressive as they were in 2008 but thats because every team, bar chile, played catenaccio against them, including the most impressive team of the tournament, germany, and the second finalist, netherland.

Brazil lost to paraguay at home after they won the WC, France drew with iceland and austria after they won the WC, France streamrolled italy after the WC final. @camisa0ch0 CR "completeness" is overrated. Imo the only thing he is better than messi at is freekick and head the ball, shooting from a distance,faster and can do (useless) tricks. Now messi is much better passer,vision,dribbler,team player, ,techique(ball control,first touch etc) and stronger on the ball(just see how messi rides foul compared to CR)

CR this season most of his goal have been thanks to his team mate creating a chance and then giving him on a silver plate where he only needs to beat the keeper, where as most of messi goal are solo effort apart from some goals.

@camisa0ch0 exactly that's why his general play this season has been below par, no matter if he have score goals or not. He usually plays average throughout a game, and then pops up and score a tap in. Like when he score 4 goal some weeks ago, there were alot of player in real madrid that had a better game than he did(CR7 admitted even that after the game) but he scored 3 taps in and a penalty and he undeservedly got MOTM, that has been his story this entire season..

General speaking I love when player does over-steps, elastico but only when it has a purpose like when dinho,zizou,figo and the real ronaldo did them I absolutly loved it, but when player like Robinho, CR does it it has no purpose, they do 5 overstep and than pass the ball backwards very rarely do they get past a player because of the tricks. 1) Maradonna gave Messi free hand to do whatever he wants in the field. With all the respect to Messi (and I have a lot of it), a player still have some "tasks" to do. Tasks which are given by his coach. Maradonna is an amatuer in coaching.
2) Messi position in the field was different than in Barca
3) Messi got too much credit for his performance before the world cup. This is too much for such a young man who needs to keep his mind busy only in football.
