  • brava!! but better Italy songs to looking for the right way!!

  • Gorgeus:)

  • I would say don't be afraid to move more with your body; you hands. Often physical gestures help you find a more natural, supported placement of the voice; it would probably help reduce nerves too.

  • @flaze3 Please view later videos. This one is 3 years old.

  • @MarionWilson ok.

  • need to work on the runs. hope you have a good coach. If anyone tells you can't sing tell them to go to

  • Metallic sound. But is good. Very good.

  • you have some amazing tone on your high notes !! I Hope you're still studying somewhere and I mean somewhere good here in America, your tone, inflection, vibrato and tessitura are brilliant for a 19 y.o. ! Hope to see you someday on the opera stages of the world, but, mostly here in America, 'cause we need GOOD colortura sopranos NOW! Not like that dope Renee Fleming who sounds like Florence Foster Jenkins re-incarnated! ICK!

  • @kerryincolumbus Thank you so much!!! Your comments are so appreciated!

  • @kerryincolumbus You comments on Renee Fleming are totally unrelated to the virtues of Liana Wilson and totally unnecessary. They reflect poorly or both your character and your musical judgment. Renee Fleming is a very accomplished vocal artist with an exceptionally beautiful voice. Whether or not she is to your taste, your comments on her here are ridiculous.

  • @operamark1 I have to say I think her voice was more beautiful as a young singer.

  • @operamark1

    Don't pay attention to @kerryincolumbus

He is one of those idiotic gays who thinks Julie Andrews is an opera singer

  • nice for a 19 years old singer :) keep working hard i think u going to be a good singer :)

  • I wish all the best for Liana. There can never be too many coloraturas out there to bring joy to our lives!

  • @gmmix Liana appreciates so much your good wishes!

  • I love it! Very beautiful voice! The Met awaits!!

  • Great and very good voice. Its a little bit "lazy" for me, especially if youre jumping onto more voices. Maybe the support of breath. But well done, really. I disagree with that "you sound like a mezzo". Its definietly soprano voice. high soprano or real coloratura... I dont know. And it does not matter. Good voice, you are talented, sing a little bit more emotions. Well done!

  • @bpetii1 Thank you so much for your comment. This video is from 3 years ago so much has improved and will continue. (Liana)

  • @MarionWilson yes ignore that hater :) u r amazing!!! i to am trained opraticly with a stratospheric soprano range.

  • You sound more like a mezzo than a soprano. And although you can reach the high notes, you look to be struggling with them somewhat. Maybe you should concentrate on singing at a lower range.

  • @Heidistuart maybe you hould stop hateing on her b/c you do no thave 1% of her talent/range #DISMISSED

  • You have potential - get rid of the flutist though

  • Extremely impressive, quite the beautiful voice.

  • You sounds so much better than me I want to cry and hide ;_; Gorgeous.

  • troppo lento

  • @divavolpe Si. Liana sapeva che era troppo lento, ma era lo studente e ha dovuto cantare la canzone nel tempo del ianista (insegnante) e il flauta. Non la sua decisione. Grazie per il tuo commento.

  • when you sing ensemble work, it is vital to match muscians talent. this piece sounded imbalanced. it suffers from a too pesante tempo and feels turgid and unmusical. you diction suffers from the heaviness; as well, your head movements and shoulder lifting distract. i suggest working front of a mirror, as with a baroque specialist. youre much too talented to work with musicians whose talents are unequeal to yours. the music suffers. and it is about the music in the end. i applaud your attempt.

  • @gmsoyls Your critique and suggestions are most welcome.

  • my gosh! I'm a coloratura and I've been studying for years and I can't even get close to you..you should sing The Doll Song from Tales D'Hoffmann ..one suggestion though on some of your words your pronunciation for sound a little more operatic you know what i mean, especially vowels...use a bit more faster vibrato or some parts like at 4:05 lord, hear the gentle...think of the o in lord and try to make your mouth more of a oval O shape

  • Beautiful voice, agile, clear, best wishes on your career !

We might be seeing you at the Met soon.

  • @billcarr54 Thank you so much!! Liana appreciates your support in her endeavors.

  • Beautiful voice, agile, clear, best wishes on your career !

  • In every soprano, who studies the art and skill, there is the assurance of the perpetuity of music. We may always seek the perfection of what we do, however, we need to encourage young singers to continue on.

  • I know this is totally irrelevant but the flute player had poor posture she's supposed to hold it atleast close to level with her chin. It doesn't look very professional. but she played good and as for the star of the show she's amazing!!! i love your voice :)

  • @chicadulce281 Liana is so appreciate of your kind comments!

  • I hope that you pursue a career in classical music because you can really sing.Never be discouraged because there will always be an audience who loves and will pay dearly to hear beautiful singing. You have a God given talent. Leave the pop and all the stage gimmicks to those who can't who can't sing or think they can.

  • Nice! Fat lady not fat no more. Bless that voice. Excellent work.

  • @carabalp Thank you!!

  • Great voice. I would take some ballet lessons to improve your body language and the way you stand. Look like a performer, you are just standing there... If you want to entertain you are going to need more than just a beautiful voice; you need the whole package but you have time while attending college and its a good time to do so.

  • @mlp633 Agreed! Thanks.

  • @mlp633 Agreed! Liana is 3 years older now and much improved in every respect. Thanks for your construvctive comments.

  • Impressive for her age -- in THIS day and age. The virtuosity required for coloratura, regardless of talent, must be acquired through diligent, consistent practice and study with qualified teachers. Perfection does not come overnight.

  • I JUST WATCH THIS VIDEO BECAUSE OUT TEACHER WANTS US TO RESEARCH ABOUT COLORATURA SOPRANO.. THEN I FOUND THIS..

I CANT DO THIS KIND OF PITCH.. TO HIGH!! OHH MYY..

  • That flute. Bloody awesome.

  • wow you're so good!!

  • Great top register! Just work on facial expressions and the lower end will come as you mature, ^_^

  • EPIC

  • wow!!!!! god bless your talent....

  • You have a gorgeous voice!!! Where are you training?

  • @flowersings Thanks for your comments. Truly appreciated. I study privately in NYC and at Hunter College. (transmitted by Liana Wilson)

  • Wow! Great performance. I'll bet it won't be long before we hear you singing The Queen of the Night, or The Bell Song. I can't wait. Brava and best wishes.

  • Marionwilson

What is the name of this piece?

  • ohh my gosh, how i wish i was a soprano!

  • You rock that piece! =)

  • i love the voice over all. i think the execution over all was good. there were breathing and deportment issues I noticed, plus for a class, recital, etc I would have dressed as tho it were a professional gig, thats just me. otherwise, fantastic

  • Okay, my dear lovely people. You will have no idea what voice type you will be until you are well into your thirties. Yes, for your age you are good, but please PLEASE don't hurt your voice doing pieces that are out of your league right now. There are so many singers who try too hard too soon and ruin what they've been given. In your case, a promising voice. Keep your wits about you. Don't get too big headed.

  • Beautiful voice! I am 18 now and a coloratura soprano too, but not as good yet as you. Thank you for sharing this video!

  • Notice her face when hitting high notes. She feels comfortable and with ease. That only proves that she can hit above the high C naturally without having difficulties.

  • @mharvz No, it proves that she has been well-trained.

  • this is brilliant i want to sing like her

  • I might suggest, and only if you want to, doing Gilbert and Sullivan. You know Pirates of Penance, The Mikado, Iolanthe. The soprano parts are not quite as demanding as those in grand opera, plus they are in english so no need to learn a foriegn language. Not to mention they are very funny

  • "Holy Shit!" Agreed, beautiful voice.

  • Awesome voice, and as a word of advice, use it as you want to, if your heart is pleased on singing rock, go for it, classic opera, people like me will enjoy that as well, but on the end the talent and the practice are rather important, and whatever you choose to perform, if it makes you happy, that is the way to go.

  • @mariocascantejr Liana thanks you for your encouragement...

  • @MarionWilson hey, I totaly agree with mariocascantejr, I mean, how many metal bands use front classically trained women as main vocalists? I know u said rock, but they'r both guitarristic and good. anyways: Tarja Turunen, soprano, ex-Nightwish; Simone Simons, mezzo, Epica; Floor Jansen, ex-After Forever, today's Revamp, soprano; Liv Kristine, ex-Tragedy Theater, today's Leave's Eyes, soprano (I don't like her much, but love the three firsts ^^) if u wanna rock, go up there and rock!!! \m/

  • @xXxFF4everxXx Rhapsody of Fire uses a male operatic singer, though he alters his style a bit, I think, for the band.

  • I closed my eyes and only saw (and heard of course!) beauty,

  • Wow...so beautiful. I'd give my right arm to have a voice like hers!

  • i like your performing.maybe someday you would perform in my country TAIWAN.KEEP GOING.

  • hahaha I heard that holishit too and I would have said something similar

she's soo good =D I love her voice, please give her my congrats, so admiring talent =D

haha tell her that when I grow up I want to be like her xD

(well, i'm 17, she was 19 then, right? so I think 2 years is not that much wait to see how I sing xD)

    beautiful I'd love to see/hear a new performance *__*

  • @KriBlackRoson thank you for your kind comments! Liana appreciates your support so much....and good luck to you too!

  • I'm glad =D

    thanks a lot too

  • DO NOT SING ROCK!

You have a great future in a choir or in the ópera!!

  • @amlokadion that's quite an ignorant comment. she could sing rock with classical singing tecniques just fine! i mean, how many metal bands (OK OK i know u said rock, but whatever, big deal, metal is as good as rock) use classically trained singers? specially women! see videos of Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish, soprano), Simone Simons (Epica, mezzo), Floor Jansen (ex-After Forever and today's Revamp, soprano), and many others and u'll see she can do it just fine.

  • you have a wonderful voice :] and i love how, if you listen carefully at 1:27, you can hear a guy from the audience say, "holy sh*t" haha i would consider it a great compliment

  • @GaarasLonelyHeart Thanks for your kind comments. Liana said that she heard that "holy sh*t" from the stage while she was singing and almost burst out laughing! You have great ears......

  • @MarionWilson haha well thank you for your compliment as well :] and im pretty sure i would have burst out laughing if i was the one up there performing, so i commend liana on that haha

  • @GaarasLonelyHeart ahahaha saying that he almost ruined the performance!

  • I <3 her coloratura MEZZO-soprano))

  • beautiful, congratulations!!

  • Very good material. Nice timbre. Sounds more like a mezzo than a soprano. And she looks (and sounds) much older! Please don´t sing rock! Pursue your operatic career, Get a good singing coach. (and a good accompanist.) And you might have a great operatic future! (I used to be a CD-critic. Also worked with opera singers.)

  • @ellandelachapelle Your comments are very much appreciated!

  • @ellandelachapelle Either opera or power metal would work for my tastes.

  • Very good! I like her voice! :)

  • She did a great job. I like her control over the notes.

  • Great voice ... It must continue to grow. Suggestion : moderate your vibrato. I find a little excess on them, which overwhelms the beauty of your voice.

  • the vibrato is fine, with tie it'll get better

  • Bien entendu la flûtiste a été exécutée avant même d'avoir rejoint sa loge !

  • she good she as a voice of a 30 year old good

  • you don't need to open your mouth more. your position looks nice and relaxed if not a little low. If you think of raising your hard palate (I realize it doesnt actually raise ;)) if will give the voice more sparkle. Congrats! you sound great.

  • I'm out here clapping too! I'm hoping you will stick to this art and that I will one day be buying your recordings and that I can also be on hand for your performances. You've already got it. You can be "bigger" than many, many of the modern stars and all of the current ones. Go get 'em!

  • @whizbang47 Liana thanks you for your encouragement and she is working hard to get achieve her goals! Thanks.

  • that was reaaally goooood!Loved it!

  • that was reaaally goooood!Loved it!

  • that was reaaally goooood!Loved it!

  • great voice! flute... not so much haha

  • I love your voice! very beautiful. I would love to see & hear more

  • Flautist flat !

    Too much movement when singing!

Be Still - lift chest up and hold it and lift out ribs -never move - this is called the " noble posture " this will promote abdominal breathing correctly !

Keep going lots of potential !

  • nice contralto mb

  • AWESOME!

  • well, if you sing this again, get rid of that flutist!!!! You've got a lovely voice with tremendous potential.

  • Very promising, beautiful voice quality.

  • It is a fine voice--nice timbre in the upper register; the lower end of the modal voice may still be maturing. As a listener, I would like to hear the vibrato more under control--if you can back off on it a bit here, the melismata and other ornaments will jump out at the listener more.

I don't think you need to caper about the stage if that's not what you feel like doing, especially on a concert stage. Many fine singers (e.g. Barbara Bonney) have had a very still delivery style.

  • Your constructive comments are greatly appreciated.

  • promising.... open your mouth more - support better - breathing technique a bit more work - but very very nice and most promising -- we'll be watching.... keep up the great work!

  • @nitaseyboldsault her mouth is fine. Consistent support, yes. But that comes with time. She just needs to really open up on those high notes; let it all come from the lower body.

  • You can mark me down as STUNNED! What a talented young lady, and what is more she has a voice that is distinctive. I for one hope she goes really far in her singing career. In my best Oliver Twist impersonation, message to Marion Wilson, thanks so much for the upload and now, "please may we have some more?"

  • Coming soon....thanks

  • Cannot wait!! Thanks for the reply!

  • @ singer: very nice, a bit much vibrato for my taste, but who am i :p

@ flutist: it sounded like a prima vista... and not a good one, sorry

  • dang gurl, you say your 19, which would mean your only 8 years older than me, bu are you sure you aint in ya forties, cuz your voice is like....WOW

  • Actually, very good voice!! Nothing of the hooty airy quality many young high sopranos have in the middle-low register. Very good!! The high notes have a shimmering quality.

  • She's SO goood! HOMG!

    :O

  • People have mentioned technical points which she could work on; I agree that the song was far too slow for what it was. However I believe that most of these will come with time and enough practice, her voice definitely has huge potential. I think what she really ought to work on is her stage presence! It's a happy sort of song and yet she only smiles at the end. She has a very beautiful smile so she should be showing it off! Start moving around, girl ;)

  • They probably coached her into standing at attention lol. That's why you got to do your own thing sometimes

  • She's obviously VERY talented...I wonder how she would have done at a faster tempo (it really was far too slow.) One thing she'll need to work on to really be a coloratura is the speed and facility of her passagework. Right now, I would classify her as a light lyric soprano...high notes don't mean you're a coloratura. However, with more work on the speed of melismas, she could certainly work into some of that rep. I wish her all the best!

  • That's absolutely true. The highest soprano we know, Mado Robin, was not a good coloratura singer. On the other hand...I know some contraltos, or even basses with fantastic agility.

  • This is very beautiful! Even my parakeet started singing along... and she's very picky!

  • Great! The singer has endless potential, such a great voice! Also, despite how slow this was taken, she seemed to sustain just fine, good job!

  • ou est ça?

  • New York

  • Wow i praise her lung power w/c can produced and sustain to hit those high notes ;) go for the gold gurl...

  • To begin, lovely tone! It sounds like she is struggling a bit with control as I was last year, when I was 19. My suggestion would be to concentrate on lower and stronger support to avoid the voice falling back in the throat and stress being put on the vocal folds. Instead, focus on low support and a tone centered at the very top of the nose between the eyes. Those ideas have helped me to no end. This will keep things forward so that the gorgeous tone can blossom even more freely :-)

  • WOOOO!! Please, Which is the title of the song???

  • Lo! Here the Gentle Lark

  • ughhhhhhh that flute playerrrrrrrrrrr

  • Amazing indeed! I'm all choked up and tearfull after hearing her rendition for the first time. Such dynamic range from such a slender reed of a soprano! Her lower register is so full-throated, it complements her higher coloratura trills perfectly. and to my mind more satisfyingly that more mature sopranos.

I'm hoping someone will post the Alma Gluck recording of this composition--I grew up with it and prefer it to that of Galli Curci. which is also beautiful.

  • I look forward to more from dis young lady ^_^

  • Very nice voice. there are a few technical things i would fix though. there are a few times when the begining consanants arent connected with the words. try singing the song with only vowels to get the flow and then add the consanants back in. i'm doing the same thing in my practice and it works wonders

  • does anyone know where to get the cleo laine version?

  • this is beautiful, i love your voice :)

    very well sung x

  • When you hear a voice like this you hardly expect it to come from such a young lady. Her voice is so practiced and bell-like that one can only imagine what it will become over a period of time. I hope to see her some day at the Met. Brava Liana! Bravisima!
