@ramoncastillo8 the difference is the walmart rods are usually fiberglass. the high ends are graphite and sensitive. you can detect the bites. your probably one of those guys who just puts a night crawler on a hook and throws it out and leaves it out there till a fish bites it. if thats what your doing than yeah. walmart rods are perfect

@cb7pwn not really. basicly it can lift 10kg of dead weight because the weight goes through the whole blank. the down side is when fighting a fish 10kg+ and you need to muscle it out of cover these rods have a hard time turning a fishes head away from cover. rods with less bend allow more control as you can put abit more hurt on the fish however because of its low flex these rods don't like being high sticked like the bloke on the vid is doing. in short its not the rod thats B.S its the angler.

Just a warning to customers from the USA and Canada. DO NOT BUY from DAM tackle. They refused to honor warranty by a rod I purchased. I contacted the company via their website to Andrea Dijk and they said no warranty since I was in the usa (rod was 9 months old). They said had no dealers in usa - even though I bought it off a legit dealer on ebay.

You're fishing for pike, a catfish bites, your chances with any 40gr rod are slim, they can't "pump" the catfish from bottom... You're fishing from a peer, you have to lift a fish 2-5m up, landingnets with 3-6m poles are allmost non existant... Or if you cannot approach the bank, it's very deep, or muddy, or... You have to ram the fish into the bank as far as you can, to pick it up...

they need it to be stiffer for practical uses, you dont need an unbreakable rod for anything but sharks, but that rod is too flexible and wont allow you to tire the shark efficiently, you'll waste more energy that the fish

I wish i had one of these fine rods! D.A.M... a great brand of the '80s, and the early '90s.

I always was fond of D.A.M. reels and rods. I still have some 15-20 years old equipment from them, but i swear they have a quality you cannot get from some other companies' new stuff either.

Sad that in Hungary the shops mostly keep Shimano and Spro fishing equipments, so you can hardly find such stuff from D.A.M., Balzer, Browning, etc. companies, that are famous for making quality eqipments.
