@ashten23 As far as I know, and how it made sense to me, is that Dick Turpin was one of those guys from hundreds of years ago who would wear a mask over his face and, armed with a set of pistols, would "hold up" and rob stagecoaches. The coach would of course be late and it and it's passengers would be lighter in wealth than when they started.
"you could have got one from italy quicker than it has took you to fucking bring it" "I got held up man" "Held up ? You think your Dick Turpin or something? Held fucking up ? "sorry mate" "Hope its the right fucking pizza .. and its fucking freezing as well, well you know what to do with your fucking pizza stick it right up ass and that will heat it up a little bit, now fuck off out my sight, FUCK OFF!" there it is translated without slang
need more naturalistic performances like that, ken loach does it well but not well enough, to much politics, scotland needs to explode onto the scene with raw energy form the working class. not middle class river city drivel and scottish screen politically correct nonsense. The young intullectual film graduates are out of touch and ful of cinematography, wi posh glasgow english accents
@dugmin The whole o Scotland is getting soft English accents. Its fuckin rife everywhere. weans getting brought up saying `yeah` and `aha`. Dis my box in.
@dugmin aw shut up about class its a imaginary boundary in your head, check your snobby tones as you talk about so called middle class people like your so superior cos you reckon your "working class" theres a song you should listen to, or read the lyrics to, crass - its the greatest working class rip off, says it much better than i could
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz no imaginary boundary mate! the boundary is very real and especially in the film industry, and especially in scotland, where speech descrimination is rife!! and acceptable, because no-one wants to listen to a nasal speaker. go to GMAC and watch all the "english" films, with their posh glasgow accents trying to emulate a world they have no clue about.
@dugmin I think 99 percent of the time, films that try to portray the "working classes in Glasgow" only succeed in making Glaswegians look like scum. Every time I see a film advertised for the first time that's based on Glasgow I cringe. People need to see the more impressive aspect of the city. There is no need to keep on reminding people that Glasgow has knife crime and Drug abuse issues over and over again. Not to mention glamorising it.
Have a look around. There is so much more to the city than suburban poverty. People seem to quite enjoy watching things about the poverty and violence in Glasgow so they can sit in their apartment and feel ever so civilised.
@DunksXD I know man, I'm fed up with my home city being portrayed in such a negative light where everyone is either a foul mouthed moron, a ned or a drug addict or alcoholic. Ken Loach let himself down by directing this piece of stereotypical nonsense.
that cunt at the door's fuckin right. order a takeaway pizza anywhere in the west of scotland and its guaranteed to come a) at least 45 minutes after you ordered it, b) fuckin baltic

Hated the damn film. The accents were incredibly hard to understand, impossible to watch without subtitles in fact.
