@tabamoura My apologies to you. I wonder if the confusion comes from differences between the UK and USA. In the UK a GTi is a fast Golf (Rabbit in some countries?) and is never classed with the 4WD Tiguan. I do know the chassis of a Tiguan is also stronger than the standard Golf. The main thing is that the Tiguan is a completely different vehicle in so many respects to a GTi - as it is known in the UK. Sorry if I was rather harsh in my first comment.

How can you compare a 5 year resale value to a vehicle that has not been out for 5 years? You can't go wrong with this vehicle. Just added one to the family. I love it almost as much as my GTI.

Did you hear it? "a traction system for real off road adventures"...that is what this car can do than all others cant. (CRV, Rav4, Tucson, etc). If you pay for this car, you will be well rewarded, because it will be more than a simple grocery getter.

The only SUV that can be a real contender or match to the Tiguan is the Subaru Forester.

@sexyboi142 Well, the first gen had a very good 4WD system, I have one.....the current generation is more for the city....the 4WD system is a little bit dumb: it doesnt distribute enough power to the non spining wheels. That 4WD system is good for slippery or wet roads, but for off roading, is not good.

I dont if in US is the same, but in other countries, there is a Tiguan Track n' Field, with really good 4WD system for some serious off roading, and the Style, with a Crossover AWD system.

@wtrdogg20 Well Honda should give the next gen CRV the SH-AWD system with a few off roading goodies so it will be a proper sucessor to the first gen. They still look capable but looks are decieving. Im not sure if i've heard of the Tiguan Track n' Field

@sexyboi142 Check it out...the Tiguan Track n' Field actually has an OFF ROAD button on the dashboard, to activate the 4Motion system for difficult road conditions. Check the videos here in Youtube.

The 'SE' trim is called 'Wolfsburg'. Pretty cool! I'm gonna get a Tiguan with 4Motion Wolfsburg model [in the near future, of course... I gotta save money for it in a few years and hopefully I'll get a well-paying job in order to keep it running]. I would use it for the snow and city driving mostly. I would gop with Alpine Gray, Candy White, or definitely the Black color for the Tiguan. I made my FINAL choice for my next car.

I just bought a Tiguan Comfortline (only drove Acura before this) and I love that it's a perfect size -- not too big not too small -- perfect for suburban moms who are too cool for minivans or large SUV's ;) No complaints except for 2: it's a wee bit pricey (but worth it) and also you're tempted to speed because driving it is really fun. In fact, I got my first speeding ticket in 20 years!!! :( damn

How that idiot from KBB can compare this REAL SUV WITH REAL OFF ROAD CAPABILITIES with a crappy CR-V?. Everybody know the CR-V has the worst 4WD system and the Tiguan can go almost everywhere. As you noted it, the video was always in urban conditions, it never showed the power it has off road (specially when it move the car with just one wheel traction). I will never buy an overpriced RAV4 or a SUV wannabe CR-V over the Tiguan. The Forester is the only one that can compete. Diesel Tiguan FTW!

the Q7 isn't very beautiful when it poops out on you in the middle of the road because the fuel injection system breaks!!! That happened 3 times with my, i got fed up and traded it in for a Lexus.

170hp version of the 2.0 TDI requires diesel fuel with cetane number over 50 like we have in EU(NA diesel is Cetane 40) and i dont think that 143 hp is enough for a car of this size.

I love my Black Tiguan Sport & Style, my brother has CRV, andI would take my Tiguan over it ANY Day.

Toyota is reliable, but dated, and handles poorly.

I agree. And with regard to the handling of Toyota vehicles, it seems true for everything they make, INCLUDING LEXUS. I got rid of a 2006 Lexus RX330 because the handling was so sterile, and so lifeless, it was mind-numbing to drive. Driving a Toyota is a boring, boring experience. German engineering always wins out.

With a lower price point and better resale value, the Honda CR-V or the Toyota Rav4 would be better options. I prefer the styling of those cars as well.
