  • The Islander was a gem... A piece of history. I hope the SSA keeps her in Fairhaven, for a backup.

  • I'm really going to miss this boat, it was my favorite boat when i was young

  • The Islander seemed about as crummy as the Uncatena. I think that people will miss the Islander the way I miss the Uncatena, mostly from familiarity. I miss the Nobska too even though it took forever to get to Nantucket from Woods Hole. My sister and I used to love the big wheel in the stern that was no longer connected on the Nobska. The Uncatena is a casino boat now, I wonder what the Islander will become.

  • The islander was a crappy vessel. Trust me, I worked in the SSA for a two years.

  • Sorry it took me so long to reply, I hadn't watched this since I posted it and am thrilled to see that 595 people have watched it! The Islander was not a "crappy" vessel, The Islander served this run for fifty years, It crossed in seas that cancels The Island Home' runs. Boats age like people do, if you worked on her in the later years I'm sure the were issues, doesn't make her crappy.

  • I could not find this clip for 10 minutes. change the title to "M/V Islander" or "Ferry Islander"

  • i wish i could have been on that trip. the Islander was my favorite ferry before they retired it.

  • i was on the islander at the same time as you! ..........me and my sister and her friend skipped school to go on for the last ride
