  • I love your channel = ] I will be making this really soon, and I was wondering if there is anything in particular I need to do if I add potatoes instead of eggplant, other than substitute obviously. Or do I just slice them up and simmer them with the curry when I add the chicken to it? (not going to make the pork)

  • I made this today! Though I made some changes to the recipe :]

    Since I didn't have curry powder, I used a bit more of the cube curry, I also skipped adding bell peppers since I didn't have any, which also happened with the canned tomatoes (which I replaced with a couple of fresh tomatoes I boiled with a bit of salt and water).

    Finally, instead of making tonkatsu I deep fried some shrimp with salt and pepper, then covered them with panko.

    Thanks a lot for the recipe! everyone really enjoyed it!

  • @000nihao007: this is Japanese style curry. Even within Japan itself you can find many different styles of curry from spice- heavy Indian curries to sweeter and smoother styles popular in east Asia.

    Hi Francis and Chef, I made this tonight for my brother's birthday dinner. It was dinner for 4, so I made a double batch. I didn't have enough eggplant, so I also used zucchini squash. It came out great! Thanks for a great recipe!

  • @vivisect86 If you´ve been watching CWD for awhile, you´d notice that she´s very meticulous with everything. And I actually understand her because I also take extra steps even if at the end it wouldn´t be noticed. Also, fresh looking ingredients is good for "TV".

  • @kurokamei you can use curry powder, and if you need to thicken the curry at the end, use some corn starch. If the curry is not brown enough for your taste, you can add a little dark soy sauce to make it browner.

  • This is NOT a typical Japanese curry recipe. Just follow the instruction on the curry block package which is far simpler (not so many kinds of veges to go in, not to mention grated garlic or apple) than this and taste good, it's not supposed to be this chunky as it's shown here (usually more "runny").

  • @koalaoyaji3 That woman is the juggernaut of cooking. She never does things by halves. It would offend her awesomeness if she just used the curry roux and did not add in 10-20 personal touches (she even chops the curry roux)! She just makes work for herself and we love her because of it.
