  • When i was in High school in 79/82, in Art class everyday someone would bring their own music to play. My Buddy & I would play Joes Garage, everyone would just ask why???? I would ask them who's the really artist?? we know!!!

  • hey ..... cheers!!!!

  • Happy Birthda Frank

  • so would you guys give this song the title of "Best song ever!"

    I would!

  • Not so many videos out there on youtube, where ALL comments are completely positive, without any common bullshit you can expect over the internet. I guess it is what Zappa's music does to people.

  • I'm 57, and saw him live a number of times...his improvisation on guitar was completely individualistic. I sometimes had difficulty not being mesmerized...

because I wanted to listen really carefully...

PS Many people don't realize that he was a really nice man....Ringo once said that he was the nicest person he'd ever met in the music business.

  • Potato sack pants rule the world

  • @eric1love I really want to believe this.

  • @eric1love it was actually a blue jumpsuit. One piece.quite fetching, actually.Only FZ could pull off wearing it.

  • I've been listening to all the live versions I can of this amazing song and this one is the best version so far. Effortless.

    Count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. Over and over.

  • ...and Joe is a happy guy now, at the URMK

  • It's in 9

This can be done 3 peice with a 6 string bass playing the main arpegeo whilst the guitar tries to make some sense of it all :)

  • amazing simply amazing

  • Is this song in 9 time or alternating 4/5 ?

  • It's 9

  • not to diminish anything here, but you all know that stevie Vai plays a good portion of the middle here?

  • i always listen to this song after listening to "Maggot Brain". it presents a nice counterpoint.

  • pure genius!!!!!!!RIP Frank

  • Trust me even the posers like that song,i tried it to a few friends and worked

  • The masterpiece by the greatest composer of the twentieth century! We miss you Frank!

  • As the cliche goes "If there's a rock and roll heaven.........."

  • Superb

  • Just read the comments about the will - sofa from new york is written into mine - difficult to choose between wonderment like this and so many other sublime pieces of music...........people will hear this in 200 years time and still be moved to tears

  • yup, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. 9 out of 10 Zappa fans agree!

  • I have felt the same way about this song for so long!! It's great to hear others feel the same way. Thanks for posting it,

  • RIP-FZ

  • Hi Rationalimperative !

I'm a hardcore fanatic with a complete record

collection (125 including dvd's and bootlegs)

(#125 is One shot Deal...Great Record!!) last year I bought a house and had to make a legal Will and it is actually written on this, that Watermelon in easter hay (Joe's Garage Version) be played at my funeral

  • nononoreligion - I can understand why. In a way, it's a requiem - on Joe's Garage, it's, I think, Zappa's own way of expressing his yearning for a rational world where music can be admired for its unequalled ability to touch the soul (and this is an atheist talking!)

I haven't got as many of his recordings as you, but I do have at least 60.

  • I want this played at my funeral! Zappa's most eloquent, pognant melody (and that's a BIG call!)

  • absolutely magnificient

  • franktastic if ur a zappaholic #####

  • thats the dogs bollocks mate, joe's garage is my fav all time album bar none.

  • The best F Zappa Guitar song/solo.
