When i was in High school in 79/82, in Art class everyday someone would bring their own music to play. My Buddy & I would play Joes Garage, everyone would just ask why???? I would ask them who's the really artist?? we know!!!
Not so many videos out there on youtube, where ALL comments are completely positive, without any common bullshit you can expect over the internet. I guess it is what Zappa's music does to people.
I'm 57, and saw him live a number of times...his improvisation on guitar was completely individualistic. I sometimes had difficulty not being mesmerized...
because I wanted to listen really carefully...
PS Many people don't realize that he was a really nice man....Ringo once said that he was the nicest person he'd ever met in the music business.
Just read the comments about the will - sofa from new york is written into mine - difficult to choose between wonderment like this and so many other sublime pieces of music...........people will hear this in 200 years time and still be moved to tears
(#125 is One shot Deal...Great Record!!) last year I bought a house and had to make a legal Will and it is actually written on this, that Watermelon in easter hay (Joe's Garage Version) be played at my funeral
nononoreligion - I can understand why. In a way, it's a requiem - on Joe's Garage, it's, I think, Zappa's own way of expressing his yearning for a rational world where music can be admired for its unequalled ability to touch the soul (and this is an atheist talking!)
I haven't got as many of his recordings as you, but I do have at least 60.
