What a bunch of shameless ass kissers! They were clapping for him because they were making money doing nothing and messing around on E-Trade all day. They probably couldn't actually describe their job function to anyone. Those were the good old dot com bubble days.
Every day I lose a little bit more faith in humanity. After watching this video, I lost a lot more of that meager faith.
People are afraid of not being a conformist, people have no balls or gumption anymore. Look at these pathetic employees, dumbed down idolizing this crook.
I recall the first ENRON employee meeting with Ken Lay when his predecessor, Willis Strauss, got a fifteen minute standing ovation but Lay only got token applause. Lay was a fraud then and is a fraud now and always was a fraud.
Crooked lying scumbag piece of trash. You perpetrate the most corrupt corporate fraud in history and then blame the state government, who didn't even support the deregulation laws... Oh that's right, you're a republican...a personal friend of bush...guess I should have known.
The worst thing is, Enron killed California's economy and with it, the US economy, manipulating the rates. I shall never forget that they created artificial blackouts and brownouts, to force Californians to pay four and ten times the price they normally paid. I hate Enron, I hate Bush and Cheney for letting them proceed, and I hate Ken Lay most of all. I don't think he's dead, I think he's in hiding.
blaming human error in india.. bloody enron shud have taken steps instead of making money.. shitty company with employees who give a standing applause to such a shitty ceo
The last time ENRON has integrity was the day before Ken Lay walked on stage in front of 500 Enron employees and raised his right hand and swore an oath that the headquarters of ENRON would NOT move to Houston. Thirty days later it did. If we had forced Lay to resign then, SIXTY-EIGHT BILLION dollars and 24,000 jobs would have been saved.
lol, Clinton took more money then W from Enron. Few elected officials at that time had integrity, Rangel is one of them, but now is reputation is being destroyed to retaliate for him expsong right wing corruption.
@ObamaBiden20082012 Ken Lay was BUSH's campaign finance chairman in 2000 and bragged of raising $110 MILLION for BUSH. There is no way, NO WAY AT ALL that BUSH gets the WH without ENRON STOLEN MONEY.
@exenrontexas What, are you just making crap up? No doubt, Bush, nor Clinton, nor anyone else would have gotten into office without corrupt money, but 110 million from Enron, what are you smoking? Clinton and the dems got millions from Enron and Enron affiliated ppl, this really isn't a Bush vs. Democrats thing, its a problem of courruption in General. If Clinton hadn't been such a triangulating sell out, there would have never BEEN a Bush 43. Obama 2012!!
@ObamaBiden20082012 I suggest you take a course on reading comprehension and then investigate my comments before spewing forth invectives. " Ken Lay was BUSH's campaign finance chairman in 2000 and bragged of raising $110 MILLION for BUSH. There is no way, NO WAY AT ALL that BUSH gets the WH without ENRON STOLEN MONEY. "
I have no sympathy for the employees or shareholders for that matter. They can't plead ignorance. While California, among other states suffered with the 300 fold increase in the cost of electricity they prospered. Yes it was on the news, small businesses losing everything because PG&E couldn't pay Enron prices. There were power outages, most planned to get through the Enron created crisis. Look it up...Time magazine ran a good piece on it. Did they care? And they all knew what was going on
Not entirely true. A few people at the top knew what Enron was doing, but the masses of rank-and-filers did not. They lost their life savings—in the documentary 'Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room', a lineman was interviewed and said he saw his 401(k) go from $350K to $1,200 while his stock was frozen. Meanwhile only the top executives could move their stock.
Lay, Skilling, Fastow, and the West Coast traders were the ones who profited mightily with no regard for anyone else.
@drewfansler What has never been told was that if you left the company they FROZE your ESOP for up to thirteen years. Lay BORROWED $450 MILLION from the ESOP so he could keep his job, FROZE the ESOP and then after the 7 yrs ignored request for distribution for 1 1/2 yrs and then only allowed a 20% withdrawal per year. The ERISA laws revision that allowed that was written by PHIL GRAMM, the ENRON Senator.
It's the same way the bank CEOs and the Fed and congress all do. Look at the last couple of bank failures, >-20% Tier 1 capital!!? That isn't just a failure, that is a COLLOSAL failure! It's all an act. Obama, Bush, Clinton, it doesn't matter who our president is, he/she is just a puppet for the elite. I like South Park's analogy.. you have to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich....

Of course, that in accordance with the principles of fair playing field These guys are criminals.
But the point is not to weep with those that have been deceived.
We should be pleased that the confidence in financial institutions will fall.
People will start to work in the real products.
It must have happened.

I'm still undecided as to whether Ken Lay:
1) Isn't dead and is living in Costa Rica
2) Killed himself to avoid jail time
3) Was killed by Bush to prevent him doing what Fastow is and spilling his guts on every underlying person involved...including the government.

@jmaer91 I don't think he killed himeslf, or even that bush killed him.
I believe he is still alive in a new location, but I guess that he doesnt see his family anymore.
