For the money, the vintage Russian made Sputnik stereo camera is a superior choice. See all those instructions? There are too many precision adjustments and considerations in stereo photography to take such chances, especially at the cost to shoot 120 color reversal in stereo AKA slide film (6 pairs per roll)! With that said, I wouldn't mind messing with the pinhole version.
Some misconceptions in the comments. The red/blue is not for 3d glasses. That is just the same gel flash covers in the standard holga cameras.
3D is not a new fad. It was very popular in the 50's, and has been around since the start of photography. It is certainly gaining popularity these days though especially because of the theater releases, and now televisions that can support it
Although the holga has it's place in photography, I'm not a believer in a stereo version of it. For the money
@atari67 Thanks for your comment. I had thought the same but it would have too much colour bleeding from one image to the other and messing up the 3D effect. I am pretty sure the gels are for "artistic" lighting more than anything else. I have seen the 3D working in full colour without the red and blue glasses. I'll show the 3D viewer in part 2.
Aaaah, the simplicity of Holga cameras is brilliant, even with rather complicated purposes in mind.
Low-fidelity photo is something that takes a little while to get used to, but if you like to just take photos of EVERYTHING, then you're bound to take spectacular photos of even the most mundane situations.
This going to suffer from emergence channel blur! You have to focus both lens separately and you can't see through the lens with the view finder to check the focus. I look forward to seeing many blured, but 3d images! XD
I'll be interested to hear how well the 3D photographic images actually turn out (will you need 3D glasses to view them?) but the camera itself looks very basic and the plastic construction will allow "light leaks" if handled roughly.
I actually surprised that none of the major digital camera manufactures are implementing a 3D feature in their own cameras (considering the inclusion of an additional lens wouldn't be too expensive).
looks very interesting! I myself have a Fuji w3 3d- would be cool if they made a digital version of this where you could replace the lenses

I love HOLGAs...great inexpensive film cameras. I do not have this one though. Will need to get one to add to my collection.

a funny looking camera like some thing the doctor would test your eyes with

how are you supposed to get both lenses focused exactly? i mean the 3D will look like crap if even one side is out of focus

This is a very unique camera, the frame on the front reminds me of my old camera from when I was a kid. pitty its not a digital camera.

The red and blue filters are for taking old-school stereoscopic images (the kind you use the red and blue glasses with).

3D is cool but it won't last, I mean wearing glasses for everything.... srs

I'm certainly very interested in seeing some photos from that camera.
I just wonder though if it'll require some kind of 3D glasses to get the full effect.

Cool 3D camera. I think it's similar to stereoscopic images. I posted a couple of images awhile back in Gundam Eclipse. ^_^

That was suprising. I never thought I would see you review something like this. Model kits and figures yes but not something like this.
