You don't know if there is a "planet X". I realize you are quite fond of ridiculing people who suggest there is another large body orbiting the sun that we haven't detected yet. If such a body has an orbital period of several thousand years it could very well be undetectable. Bear in mind I'm not saying such a planet DOES exist, I'm just pointing out your hubris in claiming nothing of the kind exists. You are not suited for teaching children, go do some more research before running your mouth.
The masses of Uranus and Neptune were not "measured", unless you think we set them on a gigantic triple beam balance. The masses you indicate were DERIVED from the observed orbits and "gravity" models. It's since been discovered that planets are charged bodies in plasma, so they ignore "gravity", the derived "masses" are wrong, so are masses derived using the same model and the motion of a probe past a planet. The universe is dominated by electromagnetic forces on every scale.
The "asteroid belt" was hypothesized due to a flawed numerological system of planetary space that ignored several planets and predicted a planet between Mars and Jupiter. The model was discredited, but this belief that something should be there persisted. The "asteroid belt" is not particularly dense with asteroids. The observed flux density of objects in "near Earth" regions of space is much higher than theoretical limits in the "asteroid belt".
Evidence of water ice on Mars is speculative at best. It is hydrogen that's been discovered "enriching" Mars' soil. Jumping from detecting hydrogen to pronouncing water ice is not science, that's wishful thinking.
Meteoroids don't heat up because of "compressed air". The morphology you indicate is a result of electric discharge machining, not gouged out by air. This rock you're calling a meteorite could well be just slag from electric arcing on the surface of Earth.
The idea that nebulae "collapse under their own gravity" is riotous in the extreme. Planets are spherical, suggesting electrical ejection from other bodies. Stars are spherical because they form in z pinches as well. We don't know the age of our sun or of any of the planets. Your ideas about planetary formation are cartoonish and ignorant.
The first map of an alien planet orbiting another star was made by the Spitzer Space Telescope. The planet was HD 189733b...that planet has the fastest jet streams of any known planet....about 6,000 mph!
I really appreciate you posting this... I'm always embarassed by how little I know about the universe around our planet, it truly is fascinating stuff. Peace!
2:26 The other day i have read that scientists are actually planning to melt the ice on mars by using giant mirrors reflecting the light of the sun and pointing it directly at the polar ice caps. Once they manage to melt enough ice, carbon dioxide gas from the ice caps would evaporate and become part of the atmosphere. Water would flow on Mars and due to CO2 in its atmosphere; the planet can heat up over time (greenhouse effect) allowing water to continually sustain on Mars. (read on below)
@caste2510 That is how you could terraform mars, there are no official plans underway to actually do that though. I think what you read was somebody simply explaining how it could be done :)
Once there is water on mars, water will evaporate into the atmosphere and condense, creating clouds, rain and snow. Thanks to water and warmth on mars, plants can be planted on mars and once plants begin to grow on mars, theyll give off oxygen in a process called Photosynthesis And the ozone layer formed from oxygen that protects us from the suns deadly UV radiation will begin taking shape. But the whole process would take a veereey long time!
Nope. We can't destroy the earth even if we wanted to, it's too massive. Even the stongest bombs are nothing compared to the explosions from comets hitting the planet in the past.
All those nuclear arsenals *could* exterminate every person on the planet though.
I think your teacher was talking about blowing up the surface of the planet, while the bad astronomer is talking about literally blowing up the whole planet.

actually, you can see planet x or nibiru, im not sure about that whole thing but ill look at ur videos about it. and i just heard about that and i think thats wierd and creepy.
No, you can't see Nibru, they SAY that you can, which you can't because it doesn't even exist, it was a hot topic in the late 80's or something like that but then it disappeared because they found out they were wrong, and the excessive plain tracks which is what I think you mean, that's not to cover up Nibru.
Depends. Conventional nuclear weapons, like the bombs dropped on Japan in 1945, are fission devices. High yield weapons, which came later, use a fission device as a trigger to start a fusion reaction, and are able to achieve much higher energy yields as a result.
Heck, I'm even learning stuff from this. We should all send in questions to Phil and see what happens. Let's have our nephews and younger siblings go on YouTube and ask some astronomy questions.

Does that mean that the earth was a star at one point?

@XbladeDragon yes. also everything that exists was once being forged within the belly of a star even our bodies

if there is ice in space doesnt that mean there is water? and were there water theres life
Germanboy567 2 years ago
That would be correct. But not all life can exist in ice.
dude101bb 2 years ago
Yep. But there has to be life somewhere in all these billions of trillions comets in our solar system. like probably a microbe.
Germanboy567 2 years ago
I agree with you on this. Theres no way theres NOT life anywhere else in the Universe.
dude101bb 2 years ago
I know there has to be something in this own solar system.
Germanboy567 2 years ago
Quite possibly in Europa in the ocean underneath the ice? Pretty cool thought to be honest.
dude101bb 2 years ago
It is very interesting to think under those miles and miles of ice could be an ocean of water that harbors life.
Chrisaaad 2 years ago
Yes. Very interesting AND very humbling. To finally know that we are not alone in the universe, is quite humbling.
