  • je viens de découvrir et j'écoute en boucle ! super morceau et excellent feeling des musiciens ! ça fait rêver !!!

  • Thumbs up for all the thumbs up whores haha jk :)

  • Thumbs up if you 12 and you don't know the fuck is goin' on here

  • Thumbs up if you're older than 18 and you still like jazz.

  • thumbs up if no one who listens to jazz gives a f**k about your age.

  • Todays achievement: Get at least two of your friends interested in jazz music. Done

  • This is the definition of "in the pocket."

  • A few friends and I are playing this as a jazz combo I'm on sax :D

  • Dexter Gordon's sound is so amazing.

  • I'm trying to transcribe Dexter Gordon's solo in this tune. Not an easy feat by any means but I'm hoping it will give me a better understanding of how to solo over this piece so when I go to improvise over it, I can pull some quality licks out of my pocket. Wish me luck!

  • @howdeedum I wish you luck!

  • All these "Thumbs up, if you're under *whatever age*" comments sound to me like a bunch of pretentious kids that feel like they're better than everyone else their age. THERE, I SAID IT!

  • Thumbs up if you're young and feel like everyone should think you're special because of it.

  • i used to thumbs up but then i took an arrow to the knee

  • thumbs up if you did not thumbs up the 2 most rated reactions

    nah just kidding

  • like this video already

  • Thumb up if you thumbed.

  • @stihl1210 hoho, a lot of fun.

  • thumbs up if you dont give a shit about age and like jazz :)

  • i'm 12 and i like it from my 7th

  • Thumbs up if you like jazz. So simple.

  • thumbs up if you are younger than 3 and you like jazz.

  • Thumbs up if you're not dead and you like jazz.

  • @yourmomsfavproducer looks like a lot of dead people like this

  • @Cairnivore hahahah true

  • oh come on... how can we do this? many peolple think jazz as a classy thing, and you feel kind of special if you're young and you listen to it... drop it, ok? this is just about enjoy it and feel it; I know young people love jazz, and the answer is as simple as saying that art will always be loved. Music can't be priced like that; it's there to be listened and so I'm doing.

  • thumbs up if you think that if you like jazz you like jazz and don't care about how smug and young you are

  • I played this on a concert:D It was great!

  • Thumbs up if your guitar teacher forced you to play this :D

  • @timmeTheOnly Lol, I asked my guitar teacher to learn this. :)

  • Thumbs up if you don't give a fuck how old jazz fans are.

  • thumbs upp if your under 14 and like jazz

  • Thumbs up if you're younger than 16 and you like jazz

  • His articulations...his accents...I'd give an arm.

  • @oneofthey pretty hard to play sax with one arm

  • @firsthr Hello, I'd be Roland Kirk Gordon.

  • @oneofthey that man is insane!

  • @firsthr Indeed, man. Redefines your idea of "possible".

  • @oneofthey

i agree but if i gave an arm for that i couldn't play xD

  • @MrTherockerman1 You don't know Roland Kirk : D

  • Just killing it. Wow. This is ridiculously amazing.

  • There's a reason why they say that Dexter could swing an ENTIRE big band from the lead tenor chair. Listen to that time.

  • Gary Moore stole the main melody

    Parisienne walkways

  • I am a Saxophonist (15) who has played with Jessy J (saxophonist) at Pizza Express Jazz Club and I love this song !

  • That's Lion and Blue Note

  • Alfred Lyon built Bluenote on music like this

  • Easily my favourite player, such a great sound, and this song is just...wow

  • I'm really diggin' the patterns over the ii-v-i's Dexter's got goin on

  • I love it!

  • .everyone quit spreading the hate, take to facebook or something.

  • I don't give a fuck if your under 18 and you like jazz, i'm not giving you a thumbs up because that's what you're supposed to like jazz. anybody who hates jazz is fucking stupid, regardless of age.

  • @Dropkickewok yeah i agree, classical, jazz and metal are the best genres

  • im inspired.

  • Thumbs up if you're younger than 18 and you like jazz.

  • @NovaBlue95 jazz sucks man... :S

  • @Aleixpb2 You're a tard.

  • @Aleixpb2 wtf man jazz is amazing thats why its my name of my YouTube account

  • @Aleixpb2 stfu

  • @Aleixpb2 You must have head trauma because if you don't think there's life, action or movement in jazz, you must be some sort of moron.

  • @Aleixpb2 no, you need a bigger opinion. i listen to rock as well! as a matter of fact, i mainly listen to rock.

  • @Aleixpb2

well... I used to be a hard rock bassist for a few years. But that got really boring since you can only play each song EXACTLY THE SAME WAY for every fucking show! People want to hear the way you play it on the album...

All that so call "action" and "life" were just adrenaline really, and it gets really tedious when you play like 2 or 3 shows a month... eventually every rock song sounds exactly the same... I don't even listen to rock radio any more.

    someday you'll get it...

  • @NovaBlue95 haha im 13 and i play this song daily and just love it!

  • @NovaBlue95 YES MAN !

  • @NovaBlue95 aw homeboy jazz is one of the reasons i picked up the Bass.

  • @NovaBlue95 Thumbs up if you're younger than 18 and you play jazz (:

  • @NovaBlue95

This isn't jazz, its latin :P Still awesome though

  • @Gapiro Blue Bossa is a JAZZ standard tune LOL... in latin field

  • Comment removed

  • @Gapiro Those comments are ridiculous. This is obviously jazz. Jazz doesn't mean swing 8s. The rhythm feel is jazz bossa, which makes it kind of related to latin music.

  • @NovaBlue95 im 18 so, i wish i could thumb up but i cant.

  • @NovaBlue95 just turned 18 yesterday fuuu i cant like :(

  • @Cairnivore Same!

  • @NovaBlue95 I'm 19 now but my old high school was notorious for our Jazz Ensembles which i was a part of, so it was unquestionable that i grew up loving Jazz haha

  • Incredible music...Incredible man...Dude, i love this

  • watch?v=8SYpUykbflU round midnight

  • Dex was so cool he could smoke and play at the same time

  • @slyme1711 what a load of rubbish haha

  • @slyme1711 this confused the shit out of me too lol

  • It's a fantastic photo. I have heard him play this live more than once!

  • Love it!

  • To whomever dislikes this song: the day you come up with a song better than this, I might almost sort of possibly understand your dislike for it. If not, just enjoy and admire the guy.

  • Recently introduced to Mr. Dexter...and I must say I have truly enjoyed him. Thx for posting! ;)

  • Quite a classic jazz standard..

    Yet, it always sounds good..

THIS is the kind of music that will endure forever..

  • now that's what I call a sax player. EARGASM!

  • That Dexter Gordon...

  • Beautiful !

    Thanks

  • Hey :) I hope you like my piano version of Blue Bossa

  • Such excellence. I can listen to Latin jazz all day. Oh wait, i often do! it inspires my visual art. =)

  • i love jazz and latin drumming

  • How can 17 people NOT like this??!! That being said everyone has the right to their own opinion. I guess a lot of people don't get the fact that most of todays "modern" music was derived from either jazz/blues or classical.

  • If you like bossa nova: can you please check my testvideo of blue bossa?

Should i make a good version of this song to?

  • No relation to Parisian Walkways by Gary Moore at all. No, not at all, not even slightly like it! Hehe!

  • Comment removed

  • The people who don't like this are probably kids who have no sense of rhythm, and think anything that doesn't have drums louder than the other instruments (all electronic) is "elevator music".

If all a kid is exposed to is sweets, he or she will never develop a taste for good food. Most people today have never heard anything but the sappy kids' stuff played on the radio.

  • @abukamoon I agree with you. people should expose their children to ACTUAL music.

  • What a big sound. I haven't been able to "enjoy" metal mouthpieces yet, but I like the tone Dexter's getting from his. Thanks for posting!

  • what a great version! I knew blue bossa from Joe Henderson's debut album "Page one" of 1960, but Dexter is somewhat a different school. I wouldn't know which version to choose, they both are excellent! thanks for uploading.

  • Hey guys the Dex version of Lady Bird got taken down. I uploaded the exact same vid to my channel for your viewing pleasure, no bull. Enjoy! /watch?v=EtuFaEzHJpM

  • @Kaitano94 Thanks man.

  • just got this song as homework during my second day at Berklee's summer program (:

  • @TaiChiHiker Its on my wall aswell and will stay there for a while

  • best sax player? sorry guys but he aint no Trane. BTW i just LOVE this song, still, this dont make him Trane.

  • @nastybum1 he isn't trane... he's dexter ;)

  • I'm a guitarist but I think this music is so much better without (electric) guitar.

  • the man is the best sax player ever.... that subtone sound at the bottom is fantstic and every player should aim for that .. !!

  • dexter gordon is the king and this song is amazing!!!and also amazing improvisation

  • 17 people don't like this. I mean, there's not much else to say.

  • @themranonemus How about that over 1000 like it! =D

  • Great!

  • Ayyy, 17 people don't loke this....they must hate Jazz. Dexter rules and I named my cat after him. I'm 70 and can't remember the time he wasn't on my phono, casette or cd players.

BTW... I love this photo and it has always hung on my wall and I still have the original LP.

  • @TaiChiHiker no they must hate music

  • @TaiChiHiker 24 people like old farts

  • @TaiChiHiker u r not 70

70 yr olds dont say btw

  • One had to see Dexter to appreciate him 100%.

I saw him 3 times in the 70s..he dominated the stage in every way but was ALWAYS kind & very courteous..even when he could hardly stand upright.

The photo is purely atmospheric. Sums up the bohemian lifestyle.

Today, yes, most would be right to dismiss smoking but back then everybody smoked.

  • learning this song on guitar out of the real book it has a good rythym and is hard to play and fun to learn!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Am I the only one who really likes this song, but really dislikes Dexter Gordon's playing style?

  • @ThannTheMan his tone is really really straight. i think it's kind of cool though

  • @ThannTheMan

You don't like Dexter. Really? Better lock yourself up with his music and don't come out till you understand and love him like the rest of the world! :0)

  • im a big time metal head and i really liek into that music but i love this song... i play trumpet for my school's jazz abnd and we played this song

  • Smoking causes cancer, there is nothing romantic about it......Herman Leonard used it as a trick to pimp out the photos, but its really a bit of a lie...

  • hm. my desktop background.. there is no picture that exhales the spirit of jazz as this one. the contemplative look into void where all that smoke dissolves and where all that sound dissolved countless minutes (...) ago. - thats jazz.

  • Ear Orgasm

  • tenor sax!!!!!!!! yaaaaaaa

  • What's with all these metal listeners liking jazz? all over youtube but I have never met one....maybe they're fake and just like to say that.

  • @pwnmonkeyisreal

Metal listeners want to appear as if they have the "more informed" musical taste; they have a "holier than thou" attitude. That's also a reason why they keep on hating on pop music (even though some pop is enjoyable...)

Jazz is something that a lot don't understand in terms actual musical/composition/improvisation techniques; metal kids want to appear more informed about music, so they "like" jazz.

I myself played in a metal band; now I'm in a Gypsy Jazz band as a violinist.

  • @XnepoX

Yeah, I know what that's like. I know plenty of idiots at my school who think they're so cool for dissing on pop music. Granted most of today's pop music is horrible, but being a purist just means that you are ignorant. There is a difference between people who claim to like jazz and classical and the people who can actually listen to an entire jazz or classical piece without wanting to change songs.

  • sex music, pttttffff

  • its like porn for my ears....

  • 17 people are not bossa

  • SEX

  • AAAH! ITS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!

  • Dexter soitti svengikkäästi-ja sanoisinko miehekkäästi.nautinto kuunnella hnen soolojaan niissä on bepop jo jäänyt -otettu askel melodiseen ja rehevään tyyliin.Dexteri aikoihin ei paljon tehty videoita no filmi kuitenkin.60-luvulla Dexter oli kov a sana.

  • The Photograph was taken by my Dear Friend, Hermon Leonard (deseased), who was a Brilliant Jazz photographer.

  • just transcribed dexter's solo. so simple and yet so masterful

  • Hey aynrandy1 - For you a short Benny Hill joke

    :

Do snakes hiss in pits or do they have pits to hiss in?

  • Smoking looks so cool.

I'm still pissed I got older and decided to quit.

  • @aynrandy1 that's weed

  • @mistersurr no, not that it's like an octave too low, but more like somewhere between A and A-flat

  • I really like it by the way!!! <3

  • I dont want to offend anyone,

but it´s just a question as I dont know a lot about jazz,

but isn´t his saxophone tuned a little too low?

is that an accident, or is that style?

  • @thenickking1 That's just a phat-ass sound

  • @saxophoneninja ok, thx, so it´s really style!

Because I liked it, and I was wondering if it was -permitted- to play like that... :)

  • @thenickking1 It's a tenor sax

  • @thenickking1 I think the thing is it's detuned that little it only makes it sound in a different way

  • Barry Harris, Sam Jones, Al Foster. three magicians! But, no Danes and then no NHØP.. A young Al Foster.

  • who's the drummer??

  • @epasurr Alex Riel - i think

  • this is perfection

    i now have an erection...

  • This is the first time I press the like button for a vid before watching it XD i mean its all in the title, Dex..then blue Bossa..it has to be good

  • Damn Dex

  • LOVE IT.

  • man i love this guys style. He takes his time. i swear that rhythm section must want to slow down, but he dont let em =)

  • who turned on the time morph??

  • @insanecbrotha

me... not very sure what happned lol

  • TONE

  • 17 people are red -.-

  • Dexter's great, the tune isn't. most of the non-jobim '60s bossa nova stuff leaves a lot to be desired.

  • Comment removed

  • Dexter Gordon>Coltrane

  • @MrSaxyTime I would say that they are equal. Dexter has more lyrical playing, and Coltrane has more dexterity. They are the same but with different strengths. At least this is my opinion

  • @MrSaxyTime Why do you say shit like that?

  • I'm Dexter :D

    ..just, not Dexter Gordon :/

  • Gordon's a BOSS.

  • i listen mostly to deathcore and metal

but i just love this song. i might go to progressive lol

  • @mugentenshinmonsect lol.. i mostly listen to death metal and thrash metal stuff.. and i LIKE DIS!

  • @lleo11 gods ways of playing praks are so subtle.. !!
