A long term friend of mine seems to be unstable and for the most part I have turned my back and he resents the hell out of me for that. I really would be crushed if he hurt himself, but there have been times when I wondered if I would be safe being around him (especially if he is suicidal and in the back of his mind he thinks I betrayed him). This situation is definitely an eye opener.
If you kept in contact with the guy by phone just to check in on him from time to time would that put you in a bad position? If he is unstable you probably shouldn't physically hang around him at least not unless lots of people are around but if you are a friend and you know he is having trouble maybe it would help to hear a caring voice...having said that sometimes there is only so much you can do so you will have to be the judge of that. Maybe you can encourage him to get help?

im very upset that i have never heard of this story at all. not one iota. i feel like its is because she is a black girl. this is sad. this hurts. i was almost in a situation like this. I felt this person was to weird and stop being friends with him. he later on killed himself and wrote in his suside letter that he always liked me but i never saw "the way" meaning religously. he asked me to come to his funeral. this is a common problem. keep on the lookout for crazies

i personally question this girls truth and i wonder of authorities of more info about the girls and there contact with anthony...she spoke with him in depth and she receives a call about the incident and says she thought it was Tony making another threat....had he ever threatened asia before?....did she know and if not alert someone, did she encourage...i hope police authorities did their homework and did not brush this under the rug....sounds fishy, sharing accounts...wierd...was he used?

There are people who are seriously in need of help who have mental problems. The mental health system has failed them. I have heard of people visiting their doctors stating that they have heard voices or who have had very serious bouts with depression but the system has failed to take them seriously until it results in the taking of someone's life
They say 1 in 4 people will have some sort of mental problem in their life-times - those are UK figures. Black men with mental problem fair worse

Saying that the "mental health system has failed" is a bit disingenuous. Mental health is not an exact science and is only as good as the patient's truthfulness and desire to "get better." Unfortunately there are many mentally ill people who refuse to take their medications and others who simply tell therapists what they think they want to hear.

I don't see how you can suggest the system was at fault for what Tony did, neither of us really know the facts behind the case. My point is that unless Tony was found to be a danger to himself or someone else, there's nothing anyone could have done. That's part of the price for living in a free society.

As bizarre as some of Tony's videos were there are many worse on YT. By most accounts Tony didn't behave the same way when interacting with people. Short of locking him up and force-feeding him drugs, I don't know what could have been done either here or in the UK where the laws might be different. In fact, we don't really know if he intended to kill Asia, or if she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Chances are he did, but who knows what actually set him off to commit this terrible act.

Having been in these situations a few times, that is the way to get through it. Women need to realize that if a man is making them uncomfortable in any way they need to get help. We need to talk about the need to treat medical science as fact when dealing with mental illness. Too many people believe that the power of thought, or will, or love, or home medicine can help. When someone is ill like this they need medicine. please put the word out!

There are 2 victims in this tragedy! Tony seems like he needed help and he never got it. Yeah sure he was an adult but from what i am hearing he had other issues that us 'normal' people don't have and can't begin to understand. Until you have mental issues i dont think you can sit there and say Tony did all this with 'normal sanity'
If we all helped each other or at least tried then we would have fewer issues like this.

A long term friend of mine seems to be unstable and for the most part I have turned my back and he resents the hell out of me for that. I really would be crushed if he hurt himself, but there have been times when I wondered if I would be safe being around him (especially if he is suicidal and in the back of his mind he thinks I betrayed him). This situation is definitely an eye opener.

If you kept in contact with the guy by phone just to check in on him from time to time would that put you in a bad position? If he is unstable you probably shouldn't physically hang around him at least not unless lots of people are around but if you are a friend and you know he is having trouble maybe it would help to hear a caring voice...having said that sometimes there is only so much you can do so you will have to be the judge of that. Maybe you can encourage him to get help?

I know it's insensitive but stuff like this makes me so angry. I mean why do people who have to commit suicide have to take innocent people with them? It's so selfish of them to kill their girlfriend, their wife, and their kids, or whoever who is in the way. I feel sorry for the victims.

I saw a video about the incident and Tony's mother and father were talking.They said he's always been dealing with depression.

I'm sorry to say this, but it is what it is. You can't blame yourself. Some people just can't be saved. That's the state of today's world. That's why i say arm yourselves with knowledge, take advantage of your 2nd amendment rights, look after yourselves, etc. It's a dog eat dog world, and any of us can be picked off at any time. Sad but true. I am a positive guy though :).

Many people reached out to Tony,its clear to many that he hade issues.we can not blame ourselves 4 this.We must be aware that their are many more just like Tony, who would seek to hurt themselves and others.
