Venison is WAAAYY healthier than a fat asses Mcdonalds cow meat, high in protein, and you can make burgers and stock up on meat for the winter at a cheap price. Two shooters are firing shots, that is what is confusing you. I certainly do know that a bolt action only ejects a spent shell when the bolt is worked. BTW, a double barrel will eject only one spent shell when it is opened, so will any decent double barrel 12 gauge shotgun.

@GtrDudeL all meat hunted from african safaris cannot legally be brought back to the states and ALL meat is donated to local tribes who gladly accept it because this was one less person in their tribe who had to put their life within spearing distance of this great animal. I know a few people from work who have hunted in Africa. In slaughterhouses pigs for example are put in cages so they cannot move for a period of one month. This makes their muscle tissue break down and become "tender".

being cleared by ejectors can be clearly heard. The shots in very quick succesion
also clearly indicate a double barrel. There could perhaps be two shooters. If so, a double barrel would definetely be one. The calibre would most likely and probably be a 470, even a 600 NE. Cape buffalo take a lot gun to bring down. The manner of charge shows an already badly wounded animal. For CB`s a 375 H&H would be a minimum.

Guess that kind of confirms things. However, do you use anything besides iron sites? Never hunted a damn thing in my life. No one in modern day South Africa hunts any big 5 animal for human comsumption.
It`s much to shockingly expensive. Local meat hunters go for the antelopes, and not
for survival - but as a delicacy, the outdoors, the hunt and adrenaline. Abbatoir meat/beef is 10 times cheaper and tastier. I have to agree, big 5 animals are

@apache21st - Hitting the 1st shot very often has no affect, even with large calibres. PH`s prefer a large calibre s/s for a fast 2nd shot as any of the big 5 will/can kill you & do NOT hunt alone. A tracker & ph/backup shooter is a must. In this vid a s/s is used and two hunters are firing, also to cover you from unwanted stalkers. Min should be 458, no scope, no long shots at all. Venison is WAAAYY healthier than a fat asses Mcdonalds cow meat, high in protein, and you can make burgers and stock up on meat for the winter at a cheap price. So yes hunting is still very practical. Hunting elephants you say? I can agree that there isn't too much utilitarianism value behind it, but to say all hunting is bad is dumb.

Two shooters are firing shots, that is what is confusing you. I certainly do know that a bolt action only ejects a spent shell when the bolt is worked. BTW, a double barrel will eject only one spent shell when it is opened, so will any decent double barrel 12 gauge shotgun.

@GtrDudeL all meat hunted from african safaris cannot legally be brought back to the states and ALL meat is donated to local tribes who gladly accept it because this was one less person in their tribe who had to put their life within spearing distance of this great animal. I know a few people from work who have hunted in Africa. In slaughterhouses pigs for example are put in cages so they cannot move for a period of one month. This makes their muscle tissue break down and become "tender".

After the animal drops dead in its tracks, I get the opportunity to admire it and its ability to survive in the wild and thank it for the meat it will provide to my family and me. @Mordecaii269. The weapon is a double barrel heavy calibre rifle. The spent cases
being cleared by ejectors can be clearly heard. The shots in very quick succesion
also clearly indicate a double barrel. There could perhaps be two shooters. If so, a double barrel would definetely be one. The calibre would most likely and probably be a 470, even a 600 NE. Cape buffalo take a lot gun to bring down. The manner of charge shows an already badly wounded animal. For CB`s a 375 H&H would be a minimum.

strictly controlled and also extremely expensive - could cost you $50,000 excluding
the flight and others. CB`s are ONLY hunted on private land. By hunting them very selectively pays for the fences, vehicles, salaries etc. The price tag does not provide
for "killing just for the sake to kill". Beleive it, hunting pays for conservation.

Hunting is closely regulated so it does not hurt animal populations like it did in previous history. As far as people saying "A hunter should use his bare hands to take the animal down" is border-line retarded; does the hunter have horns to fight with? Many comments are ridiculous and show a lot of ignorance and comments without any background. Very few CB`s are hunted, and only old bulls are selected. What a joke to mention that machine guns are used. Hunting CB is expensive and pays for conservation. To make out all hunters as sick psycopaths is rubbish. The majority of hunters are ethical - either from Europe or the USA. Buffs can be killed with a spear or bow and arrow, but that would be unethical, cruel and brainless. Speak some sense.

caliber - probably a 470. You can hear the ejectors and the very close to one another
shots fired. Cape Buffalo hardly ever kill anyone and are not prone to charging and
not aggressive at all. This bull is already wounded, and also the reason for the charge. C/buffalo are bad news when wounded. Otherwise they are actually very docile.

Hunting is a controversial issue. Keeping perspective and to be well informed is important, if not, clouded arguments surface. Very very few people indeed hunt African big 5. The tag is excessive & hunting is strictly controlled. No one just shoots a cape buffalo or elephant just passing by or when the urge arises. Off course he discovered it after a youth spent shooting all sorts of creatures for fun. Still, a saying that I believe defined an ethical hunter.

@lpkustom - Do you imply Cape Buffs should not be hunted as they are less of a threat then an insect & that insects should rather be shot?. Rather get the picture in true perspective. African buffs are not threatened but increasing. Very few are hunted. Thousands roam SA National Parks untouched & not hunted. Those hunted are on private reserves and MUST be free of Theillerosis, which is massively expensive. They are also increasing. Hunting those selectively pays for their conservation.

and furious elephant bull weighing 7 metric tons. Or charged by a lone, hungry, old, angry and evicted male lion (240 kg). No human can outrun either. They could have been wounded by a spear, snare, bullet or in a fight. You will need to kill that animal to save yourself, you could die or be seriously injured. Dont hunt alone. An attack cannot always be avoided. To say it is "their land" is an over

foot to hunt. That is the only, ethical and correct way. To use a guide/s is nothing wrong with. Local, overseas, experienced, inexperienced & African pro hunters use guides. No one should hunt alone, especially when not familiar with the terrain & if hunting dangerous game. What if you`re injured, lost or when charged by one or more buffs or lions? A self defense scenario is very possible & does happen.

I was banned from commenting on another vid for saying to a tree-hugging Canadian shooting an animal in self defense is justified, as animals are a resource and don't own land. Said Canadian thought "stupid yanks" carry guns in the African Brush and should't shoot animals in self defense because they are easy to avoid and it's "their land"... shots are just not on - perhaps if you can secure a 1 shot kill which is mostly unpredictable. Risky shots on Lion, Elephant, Leopard or Buffalo is a very bad
idea. Heavy calibre rifles are used with standard factory sights. It is impossible at
best with a scope shooting a charging Lion which has laid hiding 20 meters away. A back up shooter is a must with at least a 458. Never hunt animals that will kill you alone

@Adalstan - I don`t know about the US or Europe. Hear in Africa I`ve never seen or heard of any animal hunted with a sniper rifle. Those are with the military & law enforcement. Cape buffalo are always hunted with heavy calibre unscoped rifles. A scope and a charging buffalo (or any of the big 5) closeby is asking to get killed. Only brainless people take pot shots over long distances (500 yards) at animals, especially at dangerous ones. Please don`t try this with a machette, your`e dead!!

@awbvrou I wondered about what kind of sites are used on defensive rifles in the territory of dangerouse African game. I was pretty sure about scope being a bad idea. Guess that kind of confirms things. However, do you use anything besides iron sites? Never hunted a damn thing in my life. Nothing wrong with it and whats needed to hunt/defend against the big stuff is very interesting.
