the police dogs should be more than capable to not be distracted by other dogs, what a fucking joke. are you suggesting terrorists should bring dogs in to distract the police dogs? hahaha
Under FAA regs, ALL service animals - NOT just guide dogs - must be allowed in planes. If a person with a psychiatric disability gets a letter from their psychiatrist stating that they require the emotional support of a companion animal, AND THE ANIMAL'S BEHAVIOR ISN'T AGGRESSIVE OR DISRUPTIVE, their "emotional support" animal is welcome, too. Currently, those with psychiatric disabilities with trained service dogs must also provide such a letter - a discriminatory policy that I hope ends soon.
We clearly have a sign in our store that says "No pets" when challenged many will say that the dog is like their child and has to be with them at all times!!
Frankly, I am tired of dog owners thinking that they can take their dogs any and everywhere. In the grocery store, when I am eating, shopping, BART, you name it. That B.S. about comfort animals, is code for I want my little fluffy with me. I am allergic to dogs and with them all over the place, there are days when I get sick and tired of having to step around or smell a dog.
@fourthgirl You said it all. All of these assholes think the rules are for everyone else's dog but not theirs. If you are so incompetent as a person that you have to drag Fido to the supermarket with you to boost your self-esteem then that is YOUR problem, not society's. Get a shrink and work on why your interpersonal relationships suck.
@fourthgirl Very well put. Same here in Seattle, it's getting out of control. Don't even get me started on owners who don't pick up, unleash their mutts in parks.../:[
I know several airlines have a "comfort animal" rule which allows them to carry their animal with them on and during the flight... how do you get your dog on the plane if you can t bring it through the terminal?
I would love to see the people who bring their little dogs in arrested and their dogs taken and put to sleep. Why have to rule if there is no legal bite to it, so to speak?
I'll tell you what .....The next time you fly you better hope and pray that the dog scheduled to work on the day of your flight is not distracted during the process of checking the baggage being loaded on your plane!! But then again I almost forget you're so rich it doesn't matter now does it?
Only a quarter of bags that dog sniffers point out as potentially containing drugs/explosives are correct. No offense, but that's pretty low, considering dogs already only search a random amount of bags...maybe one in 1,000 passengers if they are lucky. Get my point? A metal detector and x ray scanner has a higher accuracy rate.
What does being rich have anything to do with checking baggage?
@TVman1981 nothing wrong with this report. with that said, detection dogs are supposed to be trained well enough that a random dog walking through is not a problem. remember that someone who wants to throw the dog off the scent of bombs drugs can and will lace other dummy items with food, fem. dog reproductive scents etc. the dogs are expensive for a reason.
Those are some ugly dogs. The German Shepherd dog was beautiful but I can't stand the ankle biters. GSD contribution to society: searches for explosives and bombs. Chihuahua contribution to society: ... um... accompany Britney Spears and Paris Hilton to red carpet events? I think the cop should have confronted the owners of the dogs off the leash. If they didn't comply, let the German Shepherd and Chihuahua "play" together.
yay first comment! I personally don't think dogs should walk in the terminal.. like they say it wen ya gotta go.. you just GOTTA go! And yea.. I'm sure people won't like steppin on em or having their luggage fall on or roll over them. And it's not like the owner can say "OMG DON'T POO DON'T POO! NO!!!!!!"
In Pa, it's legal to carry a gun in the public common areas in the airport, openly on the hip, or concealed.

Hey, San Fransisco, why not do your job and deport the ILLEGALS in your city instead of harassing legal citizens?

What do you not see? Enforcement. That is San Francisco. A million rules and very little enforcement.
All the airport employees have to do is tell the people with dogs to leave. There. That would be the end of it.

I don't fly much, but, when I have flown, I never saw people walking dogs around an airport terminal. See something new everyday.
