don't tail grab trout. you keep him out of the water long enough. also there is a way to release the fish without touching it. try conservation for once.
yes, the cameraman asked me to hold up the fish again when I wanted to reintroduce him into the water. I agree carrying a net a good idea, for reasons mentioned, though at the time I was trying not to handle the fish at all, reducing removing slim..though I have come to think landing faster a better idea.
Phildono1 is right - playing them to exhaustion fills their bodies with lactic acid and they often die soon after release. Play them out if you are going to fry them up!
Nice trout alright Declan, but would you consider carrying a river scoop net...one with knotless mesh..the fish have to be well well played out before handed..with a net you can net them sooner before they become completely exhausted..well stalked though.. nice clip..
