  • don't tail grab trout. you keep him out of the water long enough. also there is a way to release the fish without touching it. try conservation for once.

  • yes, the cameraman asked me to hold up the fish again when I wanted to reintroduce him into the water. I agree carrying a net a good idea, for reasons mentioned, though at the time I was trying not to handle the fish at all, reducing removing slim..though I have come to think landing faster a better idea.

  • Phildono1 is right - playing them to exhaustion fills their bodies with lactic acid and they often die soon after release. Play them out if you are going to fry them up!

  • buy a net...duh!

  • Nice trout alright Declan, but would you consider carrying a river scoop net...one with knotless mesh..the fish have to be well well played out before handed..with a net you can net them sooner before they become completely exhausted..well stalked though.. nice clip..
