@narrissica I've been there, and all I can say is trust Jesus. Let Him lead you to a church family that can take care of you and support you in your journey to overcome. It's been a life-changing process for me - and still is - but I've learned the difference between faith and complete and utter trust. God really is who He says He is, and He can do everything He says that He can do. He loves you, and wants the best for you. No matter how things appear, He's on your side and won't abandon you.

I just came back from one of their worship session in Singapore today! It was a really powerful worship session. GOD was there! And they did sang this song too! ;)
I had a recurring sin in my life that I am not proud of. Whenever I feel it in the back of my mind I think of all Jesus has done, is doing, and will continue to do for me. This song helps me vocalize how he has helped me overcome by his great example.
One thing that I love is how all of this music brings people together, all together, differences aside, because through the words of this song, it really does speak to me in a way. It makes me get what I'd like to call a Jesus High. This song inspires me to get to know Jesus even more and I'm only a teenager who doubted his faith two years ago and after going through retreats and finally being able to lead one, I can say that Jesus is my inspiration and I became an instrument of Jesus. A friend commented this song on one of my status' that I posted of my daily devotional, which is getting through the hardest thing that I never prepared myself for...my father died Feb 12th, 2011. @hayden4139 Holds to doctrines? That's religion, which Jesus came to save us from. Jesus says it best when he boils it down to 4 words, "Love God, Love People." It's about love. And my only point is to say that it's not very loving to assume that someone isn't as close to God as they should be just because they don't like a song. Also, I didn't say he wasn't a Christian. Just that his emotions are very forced in the video. I've no doubt the man loves God.
fyi... The emotions are not forced. Ross Parsely was feeling extreme emotions and the presence of God was very strong during the recording of this video. I saw an interview, as well as went to New Life during the time when they lost their pastor. Not long after they had a shooting. They are a testament to overcoming many obstacles and trusting in the Lord through extremely tough circumstances! :)
@hayden4139 Actually, it's now 16 and I'm one of them. The song is great until the bridge 'We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.' That's fine, but unless we embrace the third part of the scripture we won't ever overcome - '... and they loved not their life unto death.' We'll end up trying to overcome on our own terms. Check your lyrics guys, what you're singing (and trying to get the Church to sing) ain't scriptural.

@Maryw7 No, but if you're going to quote a scripture - as they did - at least quote the whole thing so that it's not misleading. Jesus said we have to die if we want to live, but there's no mention of that in this song. As Christians God allows us to go through hardships so that we die to our own will and surrender to His, and therefore become like Jesus. And THAT'S when we overcome, and when we'll see His power working in us and through us.

They are not saying: " Revelation 12:11......" and then writing out the scripture. They are INCLUDING scripture in a song....which is beautiful! I was there when they sang this song after the shooting. I have been in worship services for 45 years and this was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever been a part of. You could feel the strength and power of God rising over the congregation and settle like a cloud over us. God truly helped raise us out of a tragic situation and overcome. I will never forget it.

I had a recurring sin in my life that I am not proud of. Whenever I feel it in the back of my mind I think of all Jesus has done, is doing, and will continue to do for me. This song helps me vocalize how he has helped me overcome by his great example.

One thing that I love is how all of this music brings people together, all together, differences aside, because through the words of this song, it really does speak to me in a way. It makes me get what I'd like to call a Jesus High. This song inspires me to get to know Jesus even more and I'm only a teenager who doubted his faith two years ago and after going through retreats and finally being able to lead one, I can say that Jesus is my inspiration and I became an instrument of Jesus. A friend commented this song on one of my status' that I posted of my daily devotional, which is getting through the hardest thing that I never prepared myself for...my father died Feb 12th, 2011. I am doing whatever I can to get through this hard time and this song is amazig...the funny thing is that my dad would love this song and would love your voice. My dad was a Christian singer and he sang at church and churches around Texas Oklahoma and Louisana. He sang at Weddings, Funerals...thanks

I'm so excited that Paul Mabury, the guy who produced a bunch of the hillsong records, is going to be producing Desperation Band! I just found out that Paul has this band called One Sonic Society! They are doing incredible things for music! Seriously, I encourage everyone to go listen to their music. It is INCREDIBLE!!

this song encouraged me so much! It reminded me that whatever painful and hard experience i go through in my life that God will help me overcome! That HE will bring me through! that i dont need to worry about what people think of me because of my faith because God has ALL AUTHORITY over EVERYTHING! and that He will bring me through! Not to mention, the lead singer seems very superficial and many people are put off by that sort of thing. (Not saying he is at all, just making an observation). And why are you assuming I clicked dislike? Actually just performed this song today at church. Just thought it was a silly judgement to pass on people.

1. Born again in the Spirit
2 .Believes that Jesus is Lord
3. Accepts that the Bible is the full and final counsel of God
4. Holds to all of the essential doctrines of an evangelical faith
5. Fears God, holding Him in reverential awe
6. Applies a Christian world view to our times

@hayden4139 Holds to doctrines? That's religion, which Jesus came to save us from. Jesus says it best when he boils it down to 4 words, "Love God, Love People." It's about love. And my only point is to say that it's not very loving to assume that someone isn't as close to God as they should be just because they don't like a song. Also, I didn't say he wasn't a Christian. Just that his emotions are very forced in the video. I've no doubt the man loves God.

fyi... The emotions are not forced. Ross Parsely was feeling extreme emotions and the presence of God was very strong during the recording of this video. I saw an interview, as well as went to New Life during the time when they lost their pastor. Not long after they had a shooting. They are a testament to overcoming many obstacles and trusting in the Lord through extremely tough circumstances! :)

@hayden4139 Actually, it's now 16 and I'm one of them. The song is great until the bridge 'We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.' That's fine, but unless we embrace the third part of the scripture we won't ever overcome - '... and they loved not their life unto death.' We'll end up trying to overcome on our own terms. Check your lyrics guys, what you're singing (and trying to get the Church to sing) ain't scriptural.

@Maryw7 No, but if you're going to quote a scripture - as they did - at least quote the whole thing so that it's not misleading. Jesus said we have to die if we want to live, but there's no mention of that in this song. As Christians God allows us to go through hardships so that we die to our own will and surrender to His, and therefore become like Jesus. And THAT'S when we overcome, and when we'll see His power working in us and through us.

@shadowdweller91 : ) As far as i can see...they did not "Quote" a verse...they are just including some of scripture in the song. They are not saying: " Revelation 12:11......" and then writing out the scripture. They are INCLUDING scripture in a song....which is beautiful! God allows people, believers and unbelievers to go through hardships. We overcome when we believe (in Him and His overcoming) .... through faith....NOT only in hardships. God knows how much we love our lives.

I was there when they sang this song after the shooting. I have been in worship services for 45 years and this was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever been a part of. You could feel the strength and power of God rising over the congregation and settle like a cloud over us. God truly helped raise us out of a tragic situation and overcome. I will never forget it.
