  • I'm on my way, just for my score raised to 774 from 690.

  • I am happy to say I have just rec'd an 850 score. I got the letter from the credit reporting agency and it stated that I have a score higher than 100% of the population. That seemed like an awkward statement. Not long after I rec'd an approved diamond preferred card for no annual fee and concierge service and all kinds of benefits. The card is black and is lightweight and looks like a weird carbon fiber material. So, if anyone wants to know if a person can get an 850, the answer is yes.

  • Well, I had an 829 three years ago. Then Dave Ramsey opened my eyes. Now, I am at ZERO, which is the BEST score one can have. "If you're north of 720....you'll get the best rates...." That may be true, but it's all a fool's game. You're simply trying to borrow money now, so you can borrow money later, so you can stay in sustained debt forever? Right? Going into any kind of debt is a CHOICE, and a BAD one.

  • @waiting4guffman I realy enjoy Dave Ramsey BUT in the real world money is like a game. Last time I ckecked I had an 816. I have no debt But my house and I use one credit card for everything then pay it off in full every month. Every six months I take out the other 8 cards and put about $2 on them pay them off and put them a way. It works. So now we are considering a refinance on the house for a lower rate . Thank you credit score. "Im just saying".

  • @mcdadypete I encourage you to pay off your mortgage & cut up the cards for good. I like a quote Ramsey often repeats: "Children do what feels good. Adults devise a plan & follow it".....To me, having the "convenience" of a CC is "doing what feels good"..I haven't had ANY "plastic" in many yrs, & it has only helped me to save $182,000 in cash which I'm planning to use to purchase just the "right house". Dave says people w/ a score of 0 DO get approved for loans, but you can't be 300-600ish.

  • if i had a reward card with a 15k limit then staying under 30% every month should be fine. but right now i can easily go over the 30% and even max it out every month but still pay the full balance but by doing so will hurt my credit. its easy to say just request a higher credit limit but that takes time to build up with a new CC. how can i keep using my reward card to the fullest without hurting my credit?

  • You get an 850 credit score by borrowing all you can, paying a ton of money to the banks, and living well over your means. You're heading for a financial crisis!

  • A good friend of our family has an 850 credit score. she says she just always pays her bills on time. she's in her 60s so maybe that's all there is to it. who knows.

  • my credit score is 715 and i be getting apr in the low 20's and mid teen... what ppl fail to state is that ur income must match and you gotta have your credit for so long.... and i think age matters also

  • what is this I have heard that if you don't have a good credit score you cant get a job at some places? Some one tell me a little bit about this, is it like a trust issue.

  • @Iriatv

Indeed. Some employers and even some landlords do credit checks to determine weather or not they want to rent to or hire someone.

  • Most ppl think they are in the 700's when in fact they are closer to the 650-699 range, credit scores are not definite by any means, are were never meant to be, that's what ppl don't understand, you can only generate a true score when a lender examines your credit report, and they can use that number to base your loan variables on, other than that, those "free credit report" scores you pay extra for when you get a free report, that is all bullshit.

  • @gman2000

Indeed. 99.9% of places out there sell the generic "consumer" credit score which is often MUCH higher than your real "fico score" is. This gives people a false sense of security and frankly misleads them.

ZERO lenders use the "consumer score". The "consumer" score is 100% garbage. The ONLY real score that matters is the FICO score. It's the same score your lenders will look at. There is ONLY one place to get your FICO score and that is MYFICO(dot)COM. And it's never free.

  • When I read up on Fair Isaac, their credit scoring only went to 750, I don't know where 800's and 900's come from, they must be made up. Also, not everyone uses the same exact credit scoring model, that is why your Experian my say you are 700, your TransUnion may say 690 and your Equifax may come in at 720. You will never have perfect credit because the rules are not written in the consumer's favor, even if you close down credit lines, it still screws up your score, not help it.

  • @gman2000

The reason your score can greatly vary between credit bureaus is because not all lenders and/or credit cards report to all three.

You can have some credit cards reporting only to Experian and Equifax while the others are reporting to TransUnion and Equifax but not Experian. That's why it's important to find cards that DO report to ALL 3 credit bureaus when looking to apply for new cards cause not all of them do.

Lenders throw out the low and high scores and use the middle one.

  • Last time I checked mine was 736, I'd like to get it a little higher for my first home.

  • Thank god i never needed credit so far.I use cash only.

  • @dionreedsamurai I used to think like you but sooner or later you're going to want a home or car and that's where credit is essential. My advice is to get a credit card (just one) and make small purchases with it but have the cash to pay it off in one payment. Your credit will establish in no time. Also, off the subject, open a savings account and drop in a few bucks in it you'll thank yourself in the long run. Contribute at least $10 a month (or more) it'll come in handy if you need it.

  • great video. I have a score of 718 and the wife holds a huge 775. Waiting for mine to climb a little more before we buy or first home.

  • i have over 720!

  • So......How do you get it?

  • @EricaYE6 An 850? well that takes time but for rich folks its almost standard. The important thing is to maintain a good score. Pay your bills on time don't get too many credit cards (2 are great) don't check your credit score than twice or even once a month, it affects it. The way my ex (banker) explained it to me is to pay your bills with your card and just pay off the whole balance as you normally would. Buy something but have the money to pay it off right away.Worked for me. Hope this helps.

  • @calamaty Thanks. It does. I'll try that.
