  • lol of course they are similar they are after all derived from this

  • you can hate the host all you want this guru guy is pretty fuckign shady, just look around the net..

  • Regarding the proverb which is empty vessels make more noise or a filled vessel doesn't splatter this does not apply in this case as the Kalari master did not visit Chris's house and advertise his talents and also no one can be that much full since art is long and life is short.

  • at 3:10, when he says if he asks a disciple to jump off the roof, it's exactly like Conan from'82 when James Earl Jones gets the girl to jump off the cliff.

Also, the oldest/original/basic MA's will be grappling, as that is the most natural fighting instinct of humans. Not striking. Striking was developed, grappling is natural to us.

  • Kalari TRUTH:

In Sangam, Kalari was not used as a martial act according to Dick Luijendijk, a researcher at the university of Nijmegen. "Kalari" is a centre of learning in Kerala. they taught language, math etc. later on, there were fight schools, thats what "payattu kalari" means.

  • @angryaznman In both ancient and modern Kalam means field, battle field Payitru means practice so it is field practice or battle field practice.Payil is the root word which to means to practice and payitru is the vebal noun you can see as in all classical languages like Latin, Greek, a verb has a root and it can take many forms in Tamil.

  • Born and raised .....take your germany smelly saurcrap ass outta of here. We dont; want and need you type here .....I cant blame you your inferiority complex.....the germans suk dick anyway

  • @thendino1 ...LOL, check out Germany's economy and government douchebag, Germans were here in the US since the 1800's dumbass, you're curry ass is stinking up Europe and the US, trust me, most Americans can't stand your people, stay over there with the rest of your people that is 77% in poverty. Later you smelly fuck.

  • @gbb357

Germans were sucking Hun and Roman cock for centuries shithead. LOL.....India's was the richest power on Earth for centuries dick. Even after all the wars and suffering it has gone thru, its still on the way to the top. Most Americans can stand you German shitbags....just like Hitler you guys got a small dick complex you inferior saurcrap smelly shit....your women can stay but sourcrap like you can go to Africa....Trust me most ppl hate Germans douchebags like you......

  • @thendino1 ..Again, why the fuck your people keep coming over to Europe & the US in droves. Stay the fuck over there in your smelly country, everyone knows you all fucking smell, can't even deny it, comedians here in the US actually have skits about it, that's how obvious it is. They don't do smelly skits on anyone else other than your people, that's saying a lot. Who gives a fuck what you where centuries ago, WTF are you now, 77% are below poverty, that's what, that's just sad & pathetic.

  • @gbb357

Because we cannot openly colonize you anymore, so they will take over Britain thru any means necesary. The smell. What smell. i can only smelly your pasty, pig ass. Read up on your history, the Queen of England was considered abnormal coz she bathed 1x month.....haha....that;s rich...Whats the population of Britain anyway, without the immigrants? Your tiny shit for brains cannot comprehend how raio of small population to lower poverty.....

  • @thendino1 ..Especially in the UK & Germany, you're fucking people are infesting both countries like roaches. When was the last time any Europeans or Americans would actually think about moving in your shit hole, never. But your people keep fucking coming over here & in Europe in droves, because you know that you're living in a shit hole.

  • @gbb357

Hey Sourcrap, who cares what you think....Indians have contirbuted so much to the world. You are lucky we Americans felt sorry for your shitty Germans otehrwise you guys would have been a 4th world. Got it? You are so dumb, have you ever traveled abroad? Do you have a passport? Moron, while Germany and the West suffers from the Depression/Recession lol the BRICS countries' economies are booming. We wanna come over to your country and take over. We already control your leaders and women

  • @thendino1 ..And you're lucky the British decided not to keep India as their pets and actually gave you your freedom. But i am glad that the Allied forces defeated the Nazis. In regards to the "BRIC", please remind them to help out the 77% poverty in India, if they're so rich & powerful, surely they can at least give those 77% some clean water. Correction, Germany's economy is the only one thriving in Europe, they pretty much bailed out Greece & probably Italy is next. Do some fucking reading.

  • @gbb357

Hey SourCrap learn to read more than propaganda.lil shit. BrItain is lucky Indian soldiers came to the rescue of Britain or Germany would have defeated them. As for the BRICS, you shithead out of all them INdia is positioned to be in the best position to ride out the upcoming recession.

  • @thendino1 ...Sure India helped UK, they owe it them for giving you your freedom and not keeping you guys as their pets. Who gives a fuck about BRIC, each one of those countries have poverty levels of over 40%, 77% being the highest in INdia. So what if you come out of a recession, you still have 77% in poverty that doesn't have clean water.

  • @gbb357

Plz....read up a bit more that public funded education is quite evident. The UK never gave India freedom for "free." The UK signed an agreement to give India freedom from colonization if they agreed to supply troops for WW2. Thank you lucky stars, otherwise you would be speaking German or dying in a concentration camp. Oh, the poverty levels in India can be directly related to you British pricks...The British did shit for India....

  • @thendino1 ...BRIC, aint shit, now if you're part of G8, then talk, other than that, STFU.

  • @gbb357

Im still talking bitch....G8 aint shit anymore...they achieved their greatness thru theft, war and suppression of other nations thru any means necessary. Let's see if they can compete in a fair and unbaised world....

  • @gbb357

Why should the rich care? India follows the Western model of capitalism and the poor there will run laps around you in every possible way got it? Now tell open your eyes and watch as the Kurds, Turks, and Asians fuk your German women and bleed your genetics out. We already taking over Europe and your women are converting to Islam and eastern philosophy. Since, you are so worried about the poor, don;t worry just keep on shipping your jobs over there. They will it better and cheaper fag

  • @thendino1...If you're going to brag that India is one of the BRICS, then you should look into what the BRICS are doing for India's 77% poverty. You should care because 77% of the population doesn't have clean water or food to eat.

  • @gbb357

I meant Greece...how is their economy? how about Italy, Spain, France, etc...lol.. You have a problem with BRIC but no problem with the shit from Eastern Europe....

  • @gbb357

The shithole is directly contributed by you shit bags for sending your garbage and toxic waste to third world nations....No clue coz you live in bubble or educational system is failing you.....hahahahhaha

  • Plz stop copying Chinkie.....you faking thieves...

  • @thendino1 ...Chinkie, good one. How about take a shower and stop being a terrorist fucking sand n6

  • @gbb357

For a Chinkie.....I thought you would be smarter? Read dimwit, where the fack are terrorists from pencil dick? Shower,? When you and your ancestors were eating cat and dog shit, hindus practiced water purficiation cermonies......Europeans thought it was weird for Queen Elizabeth to bathe once a month. They felt it was too much. Smell your fishy pussy and wash that with some rubbing alcohol.

  • @thendino1 ...Uhh, i'm an American with German descent. Europeans don't want your people and neither do Americans. If you're so much better, then how come 77% of your people are under poverty, and why the fuck you keep moving to Europe and the US, stay the fuck over there and keep your smell over there, okay, thanks, bye. Check out this video douchebag: "77% Indians are Below the Poverty Line- WB 1-3"

  • @gbb357

Hey dick head....we dont want you here in America either.....How about you give India all the loot that was stolen? Then we'll talk about poverty....You smell like shit....keep your shit in Germany.... towel head..

  • @thendino1 ...Uhh, I was born here in the US and proud to be an American and you're not douchebag, you're just a uncivilized barbaric fucking sand n**ger from India that doesn't take a shower. FYI, you're the one with the fucking towel on your head and your women wears fucking curtains. Later, bye.

  • @thendino1 ...LOL, you changed your profile to US, how pathetic, You're too embarrassed where you came from, i don't blame you. Hahahaha.

  • @thendino1 ..BTW, you're no different from the rest of the region over there, stop kidding yourself that you're different from the rest of the terrorist around that shit hole. You honestly think you're fucking Asian, think again towel head mother fucker.

  • who is this (host) fucker,,, what the hell do you know about Kalarippayattu? Never attempt such a sham ever in your life you fucking moron.

  • I realized of them are douches..

    1. it's doesn't look like shoalin

    2. The guru how can you talk about your student like objects.

  • This style looks shit.

  • oh my fucking god.....what the fuck is he documenting when he can't even pronounce the word 'kalaripayattu' clearly? such a limey bastard!!

  • give me a big fat dildo and I'll shove it up the mother focker Chris's arse.............all he knows is to criticise everything..............was his mother a whore and had taught him nothing about "respect-to give and take"...!!

  • i dislike the host all martial arts are similar not one decended from another they call came from trial and error and it just happens a few people stumbled onto the same technique and tis why there are subtle variations in it any martial art that claims it is "pure" will be worthless and pointless if you studie one style it is easy to find weakness in it (i am a proud student of combined arts)

  • All the martial arts have originated by copying animal movement's martial arts can only be refined you can't say one copied from another, history show's kalari exits more than 5000 year's old chines kung fu dis not exist by that period which proves which came first and MOST OF ALL BUDDHA IS NOT MONGOLIAN HE WAS OF INDIAN ORIGIN

  • @03j31a0205 ....Wrong!!! Do your research before you flap your lips like a moron. Buddhism has nothing to do with the martial arts itself, just like most martial arts has nothing to do with any religion. This BULLSHIT LIE by kalaripayatu community has been debunked many times and have proven to be false. There's no factual credible proof with their BULLSHIT CLAIM/LIE.

  • Unlike modern India and Chinese hatered in the ancient period had very good trade and cultural relation’s (if you have ever heard of silk route between India and Chinese 2000 year's ago trade route)It is a very good possibility that Chinese inherited, Indian kalari and refined it to a new version of kungfu.

  • KAlari is science of knowing human body o heal it and damage it, using 108 marma’s (same used in kungfu) 64 marma;s are extremely sensitive depending on the force used a person can faint, paralysed and killedkalari has many form’s in which one style uses folded finger’s another style is diamond fist using to attack 64 marma’s used for KILLING ONLY. it is mentioned in veda's as well which are more than 5000 year's old in par with yoga

  • There are many reason's to hate India, it is poor,(AS shown in slum dog), many political reason's from china, Pakistan, but India was a wealthy nation which lured European’s to India 150 year's ago, United India extended from ghadhar (present khandhar Afghanistan) , Pakistan, to Himalayan ranges including manasasarovar currently under Chinese

  • An adaptation, is the Word.... :)

  • what an asshole host..

  • ethan pollux stanely

  • All things considered, the host of this show is a douche bag.

  • AngryAZnMan is just a chinese guy who works for Chinese Communist gov't . It is his job to slander and belittle anything that makes China look bad....especially any influence from India....whatever buddy the whole world knows how you guys copy anything you can get your hands on just ask Hollywood.

  • @thendino1 ..Well angraznman has historical facts to back up what he's saying. What the fuck do you have other than your ignorance, absolutely nothing. LOL, You got some ball to make fun of China copying, WTF do you guys have that's original.

  • SHoud've asked why the art almost died completely and why we never know its true contribution in India? Thank you facking British....for hunting down the masters and banning the art in Colonial india. Thank you for punishing those who practiced the art with Death...

  • The guy Chris contradicts himself....he states it is the mother of all arts then tries to belittle it by saying it looks like a little bit of everything else in a sacracastic tone.....

  • What do you expect from the British>? Come on if these faggots thought India was so crapy then why bother coming over ..

  • "it looks jsut like what i've seen in china" "but faster and better" WHAT A PRICK this dude is, i'd hate to train under this dude

  • thats the northern style, you shoulda seen the southern style mate.

  • He shoulda just sucker punched this prick.

  • Yes BBC, your undying wit and snark must cure cancer. Oh, wait, it only colonizes foreigners and annoys previously colonized peoples. If there must be such a strong Victorian Era opinion on people who are not the same race, or 'pure' as the main idea is, leave it to the deceased H.P Lovecraft. There was no egotistical quality or projection that came from that man. It's as if British Commentators are hypocritical. Isn't that surprising?

  • Hehehe.. it is like saying that Jesus is imitating the Pope.. Other forms of Eastern Martial arts WILL look like Kalari because it is the grandpa of them all.. the presenter has not even cared to pronounce "kalaripayattu" correctly before venting his anger on it.. Next time, I hope BBC sends a sensible man to CVN Kalari in Trivandrum.. cheers..

  • and i would like to personally ask chris to point out exactly which techniques he regards as being imitations. Not just comment on it in general, because that doesnt help anyone ! Anyway, thanks everyone for your comments. I would like to come to india some day to travel, and also see some kalaripattayu :)

  • yeah i said chris is being arrogant, not the master. Although like you pointed out, the master coulc come across as arrogant, but like i commnted in an earlier post, i understand the duty of the guru and i dont think the concept in indian artial arts is bad. I like it. I think its unique, any stidents have to bow to their master in martial arts anyway :)

  • Chris thinks he got the better of the Guru by making him reveal his bestest of moves. But the guru just shows his anger and his move is just a beginning level arm lock. It is found in kuthuvarisai also.Does he seriously thinks the guru is such a naive man to reveal his best secret move on such a provocation. He has probably seen scores of experience like this(men coming and insulting in the dojo happens everywhere)It is just the Ego clash between Chris and the Guru.

  • I think Chris abuses the hospitality of the guru. His behaviour is disgusting. On what basis he calls the techniques modern martial and not traditional. How is he so sure of it being a copy has he not seen similarities in maritial arts before.

  • See kalari master paul whitrod who is in u.k and his website for more information.

  • Whether this is a copy of "modern" martial art or not there are numerous martial arts in south india that shows striking resembles to karate, kung fu, silat, judo etc.In fact, almost all the traditional masters of tamil nadu and even karate masters who know the traditional arts are so sure that karate travelled from tamil nadu.If you take all the martial techniques in their varieties when combined from tamil nadu and kerala it is almost infinite it seems that there is no stone left unturned.

  • I think Chris was a bit harsh but I can agree with him. If I wanted so desperately to witness the purest essence of fighting i would hope it was like nothing I had ever seen. I think he maybe got too excited or misunderstood who they were. I can understand the Guru being upset but I didn't get a sense that he had actual power. And I don't agree with the whole God image thing. I mean My master was basically God to us but we decided that not him. He just seemed like he believed it too.I don't know

  • i think its an honorable revival of a ancient system, but if it is borrowed from new arts (coz i aint god i dont know i cant see in his brain) thenn i think he shud have admitted from the start. people would still have liked it.

  • it was like a university for eveolving ideas and techniques of all kinds of art. why would this be different its human nature to change. this seems to me like a marketing ploy for all the people who wanna find the truth like the truth was even evident in the past. i think the guru's idea is good, to revive ancient battle tactics and techniques but if the techniques look so close to modern techniques like aikido (only 50 years old or so) which evolved thru many other styles, seems a lil odd to me

  • @buakawfan333 What do you mean by modern techniques? You means that techniques of aikidos were developed or invented suddenly out of no where 50 years ago.Aikido techniques are much older and the techniques are from much older tradition.

  • @bostafffighter

i agree chris is being really arrogant and i didnt like the way he came across. but it does reflect his passion for martial arts and he most probably was very excited to see something unique. I mean modern techniques because if you are a connasiour of martial arts, like chirs crudeli is, then you will notice distinct moves from certain MA or even variations of those styles in schools.

  • @bostafffighter

and aikido was developed from various japanese martial arts, but the techniques of aikido were a distillation of a unique spiritual mindstate that were developed by Morihei Ueshiba during routine acts of gaining inspiration from deep meditation in this mindstate. i.e. the principles of movement are the same, but the exact whole techniques are unique. Morihei developed these techniques because the physical representation of this particular spirit he thought were lacking.

  • @bostafffighter

that said, i cannot vouch for chris crudeli's ability of identifying unique aspects of certain martial arts. but i know he knows alot more than me.

i dont think even chris denies that martial arts that developed from shaolin in chine and forth to okinawa and japan, didnt originate in india. in fact its most probable. what is hard to beleive is that the original forms are stil practiced today. original shaolin isnt even 100% sure practiced in shaolin temple.

  • @buakawfan333 I can pretty certainly say the moves showed in the videos are not copy from "modern" martial art.We have such type of moves made by traditional martial practitioners of kuthuvarisai in various parts of tamil nadu and south kerala especially..Like I said it is very ease to mistake the kalari, adi thada for "modern" but also note that plagiarism has also happened by some masters over the past 40 years(before that modern martial arts were not popular here).

  • @buakawfan333 cnt- The reason being the belief of some of the masters and common people as the modern(mainly karate) that were increasingly popular due to bruce lee and jackie chan. The credibility in native martial arts was realised over the past two decades thanks 2 B.B.C and Discovery channel, followed up by local media and films &it has to be admitted that Had it not been for men like Chris and paul(martial arts odyssey men) these local martial arts would have certainly died in obscurity.

  • @bostafffighter

well you are entitled to your own opinion. i beleive that yoga and breathing techniques togenerate power were part of martial arts in india before east asia, and so do china and everyone else. but i find it hard to beleive that the same forms are practiced today. like i said i cant agree with chris coz im not clever enough about world martial arts to recognize a forgery. maybe he was blinded by arrogance. who knows. ...

  • @bostafffighter

.... and you have a good point; there are variations of style within indian martial arts too, so its extremely likely that alot of schools have progressed with little or no influence from other styles. but to practice a whole style that hasnt changed for 2000 years without foreign influnce (all martial arts/understanding /knowledge changes this way) seems very unlikely. but hey, i dont KNOW that in this case. just my opinion.

  • @buakawfan333 Regarding ego and arrogance. There are many real masters of local indigenous arts here are egoistic and arrogant. I think it is the characterestics of the Dravidian martial arts as contrasted to the Chinese&Japanese Martial arts.Thigh Slapping and shoulder slapping are the hallmark of our arts as opposed to bowing of the CMA &JMA.Even the old siddha texts of the martial arts here advice the practitioner to be masculine and fearless& consdier the opponent to be inferior 2 you.

  • @buakawfan333 -cont I don't know if you have read george silver. Many consider his writing to be arrogant. But when I read his wirtin is very similar to the speaking of our local masters. Masters who know some unique stuff are especially arrogant and they are reluctant to share it with others but they(atleast in Tamil Nadu) usually share it readily with foreigners I would be glad if Chris comes to Tamil Nadu. There are many unrevealed martial arts secrets here.I'll try to help him in his quest.

  • @buakawfan333 I know one local master here who I can assuredly sure holds many original and novel techniques which rest of the world has never seen.If Chris comes I would be glad to be help.

  • i dont mind that the guru is seen as a god amonst the other things. in fact i think its good to see the tradition of this still alive. i think chris was harsh on him because he is a big fan of martial arts and was obviously skeptical to begin with. persoanlly, i think its a bit far fetched to beleive this is the pure form from before shaolin. why would they keep it pure ? ok people still practice the 18 lohand fists or whatver its called but shaolin now is completely different.

  • There are only so many ways the human body can move--of course you're going to see similarities between this and other forms

  • The Kalari master should have continued what he intended to do at 2:36

  • He cannot even say ' Kalariyapattu' properly.

    Kalarittipayatt?? whatever that is!

What next? Noodles invinted in China is a mere copy of Pasta invented in Italy, thousands of years ago? God, give us a break!

  • Kalaripayettu is a martial art observed in kerala the southern most state of india. As far as i know it is the only pure indian martial art india has. Most north indians/most people even martial artists dont know abt kalari because it is not advertised as much as others. The monk DID come to kerala (i do not know if tht was the same dojo) and studied kalari and took it to the shaolin monks who made their version of the art. Kalari is more than fighting, it also helps with healing and pressure

  • points. this is the only martial arts besides ninjutsu that has full knowledge and practices all pressure point attack & also healing by accessing those points.

  • @aikyum & kalari is the mother of all martial arts.

  • Bullshido.

  • Guru gobind dohu khade, kaake lagu paye

Balihari guru aapne gobind diyo dikhaye.

A guru is revered ahead of god, does not mean he is or pretends to be god.

  • Okay, so he's saying that it's just too similiar to the modern martial art forms to be the genuine article.. but why should the genuine must have very raw techniques? i mean, look at pankration. It's supposed to be another one of the oldest martial arts.. yet, it's techniques are very clean. To me, this version of kalaripayattu isn't much different, the only difference is that these guys actually maintain their health and have practiced the techniques a lot more to make them appear clean.

  • Comment removed

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS

  • This guy lacks the proper affect of a master

  • This is interesting. I kind of agree that this does not look legit. Between 1:04 and 1:20, the movements and the order in which they are performed mirror a contemporary changquan wushu form exactly. It would make sense if it looked like a traditional form, but the fact that it looks just like modern wushu is just too suspicious. Good call, Crhis.

  • Weird, he's entertained a series of even worse masters, and knows nothing about indian arts and goes to great lengths to slander him. these guys were doing the same techniques we've seen in a million other clips from different time periods. Why did he single this guy out. The guru wasn't kidding, that's how disciples are in india, since ancient times.

  • Wot a conman!

  • Be your own master!

  • Dude you just killed the word.. How can someone who does not know how to pronounce Kalaripayattu so badly go ahead and made a documentary..

    save it ..

  • I love it how Chris Crudelli never shows a scrap of skepticism will all the nut-jobs he interviews. This is literally the only time you see him take anything with a grain of salt.

  • Man this guru is full of himself... i have to agree with C.C on this... i thought all great masters exude humility and practice it...far from it from thisguy....total crap...give the art a bad name.If he asks a student go and jump and he does then hes just as stoopid as his master.I will have total faith in my master if hes an exceptional talent himself or has produced exception students but just don't see from this guy.And having ur foto hangs in the students meditating room wtf is that???

  • chris crapelli is an idiot who didnt understand the guru at all

  • @Keralite29 How is he an idiot? He's calling bullshit on some very dodgy claims and exaggerated promises.

  • I cant stand the presenter in this, he is a twat.

  • yoga flame.

  • this guru makes me wanna hit him in the neck. he's obviousley a manipulative, egotistical, self serving dick.

  • @theawakener7 i think i will agree, he seemed to b arrogant. but i also think BBC is biased. my comment was impulsive and exaggerated though.

  • @theawakener7 thanks for the correction.

  • actualy martial arts originated in africa

  • The saying at the end was in Tamil

  • lol Shaolin kungfu has always been considered to be the grandfather of all eastern martial arts. Now this guy tells otherwise??? Right.

  • @paddotk The Shaolin legend says the art came from the monk Damo (or I've heard Batuo) who was an indian monk who came to spread buddhism. He found the Shaolin who's bodies were weak as they spent their time meditating and he taught them the treasures of energy cultivation. Then he went and meditated himself for nine years facing a wall in a cave. Anyway, the martial exercises he taught progressed over generations giving birth to the diverse Shaolin arts. So, yes and no.

  • @jacksawild Indeed, he is commonly known as Bodhidharma, but also called Potidamo. Actually that's how the Chinese called him, i don't know what his Indian name would be.

What I always understood from multiple sources on the internet, is that Bodhidharma told the Shaolin how they can defend themselves and reach better health/fitness by doing certain training. But that he actually taught them moves, isn't phrased anywhere. Last week however, I saw an episode of Fight Quest where they say he did.

  • to all the westerners and even eastern people there these so called gurus, rishis, parmahamsas, all fake made up. they only care abt power, money etc. just like the prime minster/president or even a policemman, they have an ego. all of them in india. not many gen people out there, they think they have godlike qualities. dnt fall into the trap if u holiday there and let them read ur astrology/future or they will rip u off

  • ALL THAT THE GURU SAID THAT THE DISCIPLES HAVE UNQUESTIONABLE FAITH IN GURU (THAT'S BEEN THE TRADITION OF INDIA)...THIS GURU DOESN'T PROJECT ANY GODLIKE QUALITIES...ALL THAT HE SAYS IS THAT IN INDIA THE FAITH THAT THE DISCIPLES HAVE IN A GURU IS UNQUESTIONABLE........

CHRIS TOTALLY MISUNDERSTANDS IT (MAY BE WISHFUL THINKING) OR THESE GUYS INTENTIONALLY PORTRAY INDIA LIKE THIS....

  • @aneesharyan Well the disciples are all meditating around a picture of that guru dude. Kind of looks like idolatry to me.

  • @aneesharyan i was gonna like that comment until u said people naturally portray india like this

  • @aneesharyan I myself was shocked by chris comments. If chris intention was to learn something from Kalaripayat or as he says to see the real thing then why he did not do his own search and look for another school. This is somewhat sloppy journalism/work on the part of chris and he seems too cynical about Kalaripayattu in general.

  • the dumb-ass doesn't even pronounce the name correctly! ...lol

  • @shyamal1990jinx yeah ... you'r right, he's pronouncing it Kalaritipiya

    :D

I wonder how he got his employment with BBC.

  • @himadripant He's a fairly well trained martial artist. He tends to flatter the masters (even if they're clearly bullshitting) by talking them up and over-reacting to their moves; for him to say a guy is a sham and that his moves are lame is a pretty big deal from my point of view.

Also worth noting (because a lot of people are saying it) that he never said Kalarippayattu wasn't the source of Kung Fu; just that this guy wasn't.

Pronunciation also isn't a big deal in understanding movement.

  • His an arrogant and not a very humble or good guru. I'm sorry

  • Guys don't believe this BBC is full of SHIT and they are fucking a great martial art from behind . I dont say kalari best and all but as powerful as karate , kung fu whatever well u can learn it for 2 dol\m its so cheap i know many grurus in my place without ads and they are real gurus teach u real techniques but it takes many years to become a master but there are some problems with these gurus they dont tech most techs to the UNWORTHY i say .jest come to my place kannur ask someone !

  • @sreekanth5252 hes not sayin the art is shit, he was sayin this isnt the real form of kalari

  • There are few things in this world in which ill get really ticked off and annoyed with. Arrogant and "superior minded" martial art teachers are one. Its discusting, really. This guy is even worse than some of the american mcdojo instructors ive actually met in person. At least he isnt trying to run a military bootcamp/foreign language class. He needs to understand that even though he is their instructor, he is still a fellow student.

  • Fool u can't even spell it r8

  • chris first of all its not kalaratipayat but 'kalaripayat' and the moves will have similarities to modern arts cause its believed to be the mother of all of them. The guru was just explaining the respect factor and not showing off his ego.spending few days filming wouldn't teach you the culture behind it.

  • @freekchap This isn't Chrises channel.

An Chris does do his research before going into filming, otherwise what would be the point of traveling 2k miles to a country that "claims" to be the origin of martial arts. The origin of martial arts doesn't exist, different country's have different fighting styles dated over 2k years old. Korea for example has taekyon(sp?) and china wushu(considered to be the real origin of martial arts).

  • @clangersrule well, thr is no real way to trace the history of development of martial arts around the world (unless Time Machine is invented), so there will always be some claims and counter-claims based on some documents and beliefs. according to one line of thought, Kalari is supposed to the original martial arts, which was then carried to China and Japan by a Buddhist monk, Bodhidharma (who was from South India). That is supposed to have lead to other martial arts. but then, who knows ?

  • who's the hottie narrating

  • i study taichi and i think indian fight school is more ancient than chinese. this fact does not means it is best, or better. this guy is just a fool. they have their own traditions and "guru" is a part of them. that's all.

  • BBC leaves no stone unturned to belittle any non-white thing.

  • @yourtube20061 oh shut up

  • @yourtube20061 what do you mean?

  • @ninjascroll6789 hmm, that was just an impulsive comment. sometimes BBC really shows the truth about certain things - bad gurus or other shady practices in the Eastern side of the world, but does it cover as many shady practices of the West ? i sometimes think they r biased. thats all.

  • @yourtube20061 That's really not what this is about... He's not racist. Not even inadvertently. He's just skeptical that there is a place where one might find TRUE Kalarippayatu. And besides, gurus are to be questioned many times. They're not always as enlightened as they would say. On that note, take good ol' Siddhartha Guatama. He became the Buddha by first taking others' teachings with a pinch of salt. A reasonable doubt. So he went off on his own, & discovered his own way.

  • @yourtube20061 youre right. fuck those damn british motherfuckers. oh well who cares. there are so many non whites living in britain and those filthy white british can't do a thing about it. they deserve it too.

  • Chris crudelli hatin as usual, he comes accross a don like this guru who would end him in a quickie, just like when he got humbled in korea loool..

  • Everything evolves and develops to it it's current enviroment including the martial arts they have all evolved to fit into current day . Indeed history is important but you have to develop new skills and modernise your art that is what pushes all art forward .tradionalists even realise this and have developed methods to defend themselfs against modern weapons etc the almost religious fervour surrounding martial arts and its (holy grail) origins would be interisting but it is not magic

  • its the mother of all eastern martial arts!

    its no copy!

first of all learn to pronounce the word in the first place!

  • STFU. Sumo is clearly unrelated. =P

  • heh?

  • @anirudhkrishnamani

Sumo is an eastern martial art, supposedly. It is clearly unrelated to the dancers on the screen. =P

  • @jedwards0820

they are not dancers.. they are extremely dangerous martial artists.

i knw this style and i can guarantee that there is no martial equal to this.

  • @anirudhkrishnamani

Well, beside arguing about the subjective superiority of an given martial style, I was trying to make a joke.

You said it was the mother of all eastern martial arts. I said sumo is clearly unrelated. You flew into defending your art.

I don't doubt they are excellent martial artists, but that being said, there are no strong or weak styles, only strong or weak practitioners of those styles.

  • @jedwards0820

fine your. right on dat.. i thought your one of those idiots trying to insult martial arts..

  • @anirudhkrishnamani

It was a joke, dude. You said it was the mother of all eastern martial arts, and I cracked a joke about sumo....

I have no doubt they are excellent martial artists.

But really, there isn't a superior martial art. There are only superior fighters.

  • @jedwards0820

k fine.. your right its about the fighter i say that my-self.. i just got mad..

    peace \/

  • ITS NOT COPY!

    how dare you say that!

  • @garethlethem amazing call

  • what chris was shown is only a demo or a capsule form of thekkan adi or southern style kalari. you cannot see the astounding leaps or high flying kicks in a pure thekkan style, but hard core practical fighting. it is more aggressive and effective than the northern style. it originated in the south, with agastya muni as its patron, hence the similarity with kung fu. it is a total healing art with the basics starting at kalari .

  • people the origin's of martial should never be found...because people nowadays can't be trusted to take it seriously, they would abuse the rights and wisdom of it for there own selfish needs!!

  • chris shows himself up to be the prick that he is...he feels insecure with a guy who does nothing but live real fighting and spritual practise...chris by comparison practises shouting and kicking bags..not breaking necks like this teacher does..what a fukin difference

  • how the hell are you ment to say that word then!?

if your not from that heritage then ofcourse its going to be hard to pronounce a word like that you dick!

  • Reminds me of one of the persians from the movie 300

  • Crudelli would knock him out!

  • @voncoolio-yes, this does look like many other martial arts, why? because this is the orginal, and other forms have drawn from this, and kalarippayuttu is more than a combat form, its more leaning towards a cleansing of the mind and body, just like tai chi

Also this dumbass brit, cant pronounce the name of kalarippayuttu, and secondly, like i said above, it looks so similiar because this can be said to be the original

  • @AdmiralKumar Faggot.

  • @AdmiralKumar dont even talk you stupid fucke... educate yourself first you fucking tosser, do you have any idea how disrespectful you are being by being so ignorant?

  • chris crudelli is such a moron. he has no idea about the historical roots of kalarippayattu, no idea what guru in india means, can't even say the world properly and obviously has been hit on the head a bit too often.

  • what a shithead scumbag this particular guru is. When someone who knows their stuff comes along and sees he's a FRAUD, he simply says 'I could break your neck'. many gurus are self loving frauds who act this way; think they're god.

  • hey there are some aikido in there lol ^^

  • whats this about experts not advertising them selves now days thats what experts have to do if they want to make a living for them selves by their art, its called marketing

  • this guy is an asshole.
