Why do people feel the need to make fun o volunteers..I know many paid firefighters and many volunteer firefighters. They all have the same training and do the same job. Some just get a paycheck. Some cities don't have a paid department the only have volunteer. I know a few people who are on a paid dept. And still volunteer. They all do the same stuff and do the same training. The only big difference is the paycheck.

Just so you mo... Feekin rons know the difference between vol, and paid is firefighter 1 is as far as volunteers go ff2 is a whole other extension of minimum standards that paid has to fullfill. Btw who gives a shit fight a good fight, we are all on the same team, the only ones whom get to kill without remorse, repercution, or regret. Bottom line put the fire out help your fellow man. I'm so sick and tired of hearing that "professional firefighters" are better than volunteers. What, fire burns different? Is it the paycheck that makes you a professional ? I'm really not sure what it is because if you think it's training or certifications it's not. I'm pretty sure it says professional firefighter on everyones certification when they pass MIN standards I know plenty of paid guys that are 50lbs over weight and out of shape but they collect a paycheck so they're awesome right?

I agree with you 100% ! Most of these paid firefighters act like thier gods or something. They also act like the volunteer firefighter is under them, they are wrong. All fires are hot and are put out with water.

NOW THATS REAL FIREFIGHTERS top physical shape. thats d main differance between pros and vol ff. to be a pro fireman u have to b in good shape, unlike vol fireman it doesnt require it.

You NEED to be in good shape regardless of Professional, Part time or Vol. Heart disease effects just as many of us FT as it does the rest. The lesson? Consult your doctor and find a trainer or partner and get fire fit.
