@Cuvac sources are made available from Ed Bangs,(wolf project mangager) . amoung other wildlife management agencies. Buffalo, were there grey wolves on the plains? NO!! Are elk a plains animal? YES There is nothing natural about a grey wolf and elk. Ppl settled the plains pushing the elk into the mountains. Are there any numbers of how many wolves were in ID. MT or Wy in the 1800's. I bet it was less than 100. Oh I can't live with wolves with my cattle so I choose to kill wolves.
Bangs agreed. We couldnt even think about bringing back large predators if it werent for sportsmen who have brought back elk, deer and antelope, he said. ......NEXT !!! .............
@ SucVac- Do you know why the Lacey Act was instituted ? When you find the answer I will be waiting for an apology. Here is a Quote from Ed Bang-The North American hunting model is the most successful conservation model in the world. Sportsmen have provided the funding for wildlife agencies across the U.S., and without hunters, we would have fewer conservation officers, refuges, wildlife monitoring, research programs, and on and on and on.
This is from Govt Report to Mont. 2009 - Hunters have created the Elk Herds that the Wolf is Eating "Wolves are the Mutiny on our Bounty" - They are Poachers.
9. In the Northern Yellowstone elk herd, we estimate that since 2004 wolves have killed
more elk than hunters, since 2005 wolves have killed more adult female elk than
hunters, and in all but one year since 2002 wolves have killed more bull elk than
8,000 with the average age of 7.5 years old. I'm not saying there should be no wolves on public land but, they should be managed more than what they are.
Oh and if there were over hunting of certain animals, why would they have an open season on them. I don't hunt but, I don't know why the hunter wouldn't veiw the wolf as another opportunity.
...But Red Necks aren't Managed, you are !! Live Free or Die ! We can you can't.... Who will protect the Wolf ? Not I said the Elk, Not I said the Moose not I said Bambi. Not I said Obamama he is to much of a political Liability.....NEXT !!!....

He will eat himself out of Existance or Breed himself out of Existance or fall to the New Diseases of this Century or be relegated to Extinction Again by Wildlife Advocates
86 Wolves killed 10,000 Elk in Yellowstone, Surplus Killing was rampant and Documented. Elk Hunting in Jackson Hole is non-existant, Salmon ,Idaho -Elk gone ,Cody ,Wyo-Elk gone ,Dubois, Wyo Elk gone. The amount of Elk killed on hiways in Wyoming is negligible- there has to be Elk in order to kill them on the Hiways. The number of elk killed by Wolves would be far higher if Calves were calculated in and Aborted Calves were considered. Winter count in Jackson Hole is norm 17,000 - this yr 6800.
The N Yellowstone Elk Herd was 19,450 in 2000 by 2003 it had been reduced to 9450 - just this herd. In three years 10,000 elk were gone, this does not include the calves that were killed by wolves and bear. Every three years since 2000 you can figure that we do not have 10,000 more Elk and or 30,000 Elk not produced - that is just the N Yellowstone Herd. In Idaho they figure that they have lost 40,000 Elk. v

Hunt for food, fine. Hunt for the sport of killing something, or for it's perceived threat, wasteful and ignorant.
Cowardly at best.
The wolf population hasn't even come close to the numbers it once held, and Elk herds aren't affected by wolves, but over hunting. If you had a clue, you'd know wolves mostly take old, injured, or very young prey. Keeping the rest of the herds strong & healthy.
if you in fact have been to the west as much as you claim you would be aware to the problems the wolves created. In the las 2 weeks 3 adult wolves killed 120 pure breed sheep. What a myth " wolves only kill what they eat" If that were true they wouldn't take down a cow elk down rip out the fetus, eat the calf, and leave the cow there to suffer until it is dead and then go to waste. they are not nice animals and I hope your so called karm will find them. a slow death while being eaten alive.
What the hell are you talking about? Rip out the fetus and leave the cow to died Nobuddy thats a myth, Do you have any pictures to back up that claim????
stay in your small world of the city and beleive what you want to beleive. Wolves are ruthless killers that make a game out of killing. Much of the time they like to start eating before they kill their prey.
Pics?? yes I have them I also have some day bay day pics of a cow elk that some wolves took 3 days to kill but ate her nose and part of her back leg before they killed her or she finally just died from shock. I live with the s.o.b's .
@packmentality well congrats. you have been out west the last 20 years I have been here for forty-eight. I live with the S. O,B's I here them every night and see them about every 10 days. I witness what they are capable of. 2 weeks ago I watched them kill a bull elk over the course of 3 days. He had his nose chewed off and ate part his hind qtr on the first day left him and came back on the 3rd day to finish killing him. then ate the rest of the back qtr and left the rest of rot.
@packmentality do you live in Idaho, Montana or Wy. I do. I see what they are capable of. I have had to shoot horses that they have ran through fences and were cut so badly that they would never take a sound step. Believe it or not this is settle country. We are a state. How many free roaming buffalo are in Kansas or Oklahma? What ? none? My grandfather helped reaticate the remaining wolves in yellow stone the killed 37 and they were not the same wolf as the grey wolf that was introduced.
First, I can't understand what you are trying to say?
Did you mean "cattle country" ? Otherwise, you need to spell check and make a point!
Wolves were there first, as well as the Native Americans that lived along side them.
If you actually paid attention in school, you would understand how the Ecosystem works, and the balance between predator and prey, and how man should not alter that.
you run your cattle on public land?
Then you run the risk, and that's not only from wolves my friend!
@packmentality I only run my cattle on lands that I own. things have changed in the last 200 yrs. There were wild animals living in your yard would you like me to drop off a couple bears? Wolves don't pick on the week. If I got 15 ppl to help me take turns chasing you one would chase while the others rested and chased you to the point you could not run anymore does that make you week? As far as hunting goes I could care less. in 1995 the yellow stone heard was at 22,000 elk now it is under

What about the trillion big game guides that over hunt the lands! You never mention man in all this chumly, why?
Because you know that over hunting and illegal hunting runs rampant out west.
Predators hunt the week, old, or the defenseless.
It's called survival. Nature.
How many weekend warriors do you entertain out west every year?
Elk resource isn't unlimited, especially the way man manages it. Predators alone keep herds strong.
I know that's hard for Ya'l to understand, but it's the truth.
