An upbeat, more carefree version of this song is not a horrible idea, as the Avett Brothers' other version of Kick Drum Heart (from one of the Europe short documentaries) is beautiful. I understand this is not supposed to be well thought out, and I'm sure if Seth were involved in this it would have been much better, but to me, this is not good music, nor a good version of this song (no offense Scott). I love the Avetts, sorry for the criticism.

@TheTrapezeSwinger13 I agree. Not an awful version of the song, but the appeal of this song to me was always the sad, slow sweetness. It's beauty was in how it was different, now how it's the same. I think Seth is by far the better musician, but the band certainly wouldn't be the same without Scott's zany energy. This is a song where the musicianship should trump the energy.

@jordan3119 Check out the video, Avett Brothers EU tour part 2 (Paris to Amsterdam). It's playing in the background of some footage they got from their tour. It's definitely my favorite version of Kick Drum Heart, I wish I could listen to it somewhere besides in the video.
