thank you, thats the encouragement i needed, i came out at 16 and im now turning 21 this September. The past few years have been a rollercoaster, but having this in my mind will help me to keep thinking actively when times are troubled or filled with doubt, it always get better, everyday is another improvement to the life you‘re living!
My issue with the video is that you're targeting a specific age group with your intro and you're setting up misleading possibilities. There are plenty of parents that'll ignore it and still love/care, some that'll support it, and others that will not do either. While it's logical to prepare for it, it's the preparation that can be the end of it (and normally is what makes people end it). Like with another video, it's great to give the effort, but you need the right content to effectively help.
@Gamerz22 I cannot direct people how to prepare. You're implying that there exists a 'Form of "the Way of preparation"' and I should pass this logos on to others. There isn't. Preparation has infinite methods and will differ for all. Only you know how to prepare for your circumstance, and only I know how to prepare for mine. Sometimes we don't know, but we do our best. A mere comment response is inadequate to address all the ways in which your Platonic criticism is for naught.
@tiresianphoenix um, alright. What I'm saying is that the response is essentially putting a "they may or may not agree/like/support/tolerate the news" which is something most already understand. The preparation of such is what causes the panic, uncertainty, and possible suicide (too afraid to risk it). I'm just saying, a better piece of information is your own experience, how you overcame any obstacles from it (like rejection), and how it did get better (great job? a lover? supporting friends?)
I'm torn between deleting @jshjamaar 's hateful comment towards @SuperMelanie04 (who is amazing person), or leaving the comment up while telling jshjamaar to go chug a half-liter of 13 mol/L CH3COOH...... decisions, decisions.
@jshjamaar I am not sure where your hate or ignorance comes from. I believe that this is a post about support and hope. I would also like to know where you got any information that I spent "thousands for my child to get something done"? Why are you here? If you are set on a negative idea, this site is not for you? With peace.
Yay trans women! I followed the strategy of coming out during high school, despite the risks. If can't live any longer a lie, instead of considering suicide, decided 'fight until you can't' method of coming out trans. These days, I am roller girl, go figure. ;)
Great video, I'm 46 and post-op, like so many others school for me was a nightmare, I remember the day that my high school guidance counselor told me that if I were to get a girlfriend it might help with the bullies (LOL) I told her to go get a girlfriend and dropped out of school at the age of 14 and guess what? It does get better! From that day foward I refused to live in fear. I eventually finished high school and went on to college and was able to get my surgery a few years later.
Thanks alot :) ,and it really gets better im pre-op and been through hell raped beat down and even got death threats but i had my dark days when i thought death is the best way to ended ,thank god i had some real friends around that made me think twice
AND YES IT GOT BETTER PEOPLE ARE MORE AWARE NOW IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND THEY ALL SUPPORT RESPECT AND LIKE THE FACT THAT OUT
IT GETS :3 BETTER AND BETTER AND EVEN MOOORE BETTER
As I was watching your video, I was crying. I've been through so much, name calling, bullies, etc, cause of the way that I act. I am male but I would like to live my life as a female. I find it very difficult to live my life the way I want cause I'm scared. Scared of a lot of things. I have no idea how to go about living life the way I wish. I have no one to talk to, to help me with information or advice. I feel trapped. However, watching your video has given me hope. Thank you so much.
@SuperMelanie04 And your comment brought tears to my eyes, because truthfully, all I ever wished for is a parent to see this and say, "i hope my transgender son/daughter can find hope." It means they love and embrace their child, which is something my parents have no desire to do. Your daughter is the luckiest girl in the entire world! Thank you for being an awesome mom. You deserve a big huge hug! *hugs*
way to go I am not any of those but being big you cant be yourself either and I am tired of apologizing for being myself. Way to go you guys. I believe God still has a place for all of us just the way we are. God can see in our hearts not just what is our status, social class, outside appearance,or gender or sexual orientation. Way to go
I'm twelve and my whole school are homophobic (Or at least the people in my grade and the one above) and it's really annoying. /: It annoys me when they are obsessed with some fake couple, but will be disgusted at the thought of a couple that actually LOVE each other just because they're the same gender. Saddening, really.
@FifiRawr98 It is quite annoying and saddening when people do that. : (
Just keep your head up and be a good example for others! People will love you for it! Be yourself, because that's the most rewarding thing in the world. It makes me smile that people as young as you realize what took me so long to learn : )
@FifiRawr98 Hey, it's great to hear young people are actually seeing and hearing these videos! Sometimes as a grown up I wonder whether the message is actually getting to kids, or whether grown ups are just talking to themselves. Thanks for commenting! And @tiresianphoenix, great vid, particularly the tips on how to come out -- I expect a lot of kids will need to hear that.
You are such a beautiful individual! Thank you so much for giving the LGBTQ community hope.
