  • What did you have to change regarding the trans ? What makes it shit at a Diesel friendly rpm?

  • Hats off. Respect...

  • Love this truck. I have the same one,and I am looking for a 12v now. Your Dad did a great job!!

  • Rip the heart out of a excursion (rip 7.3)

  • This is the only ford I would ever drive. Seriously. Great job man!

  • The 7.3 v8 is a way better engine but its the cummins is better than duramax thats for sure powerstroke#1

  • i dont care who you are or what you prefer, cummins is one hell of an engine no matter what vehicle it powers. this is a sweet build.

  • You just ripped the heart out of ford and stuck in one from its enemy.

  • well dumb ass cummins out sourced the injection system to ih, not the whole engine. im a big powerstroke fan, got a 2000 6 speed m 7.3l diesel, but the cummins 5.9l just cant be beat, so shut the fuck before you open your mouth and read a fucking book before you run your mouth, now whos the bitch

  • youve done a nice job there man

  • Hackjob

  • very nice engine swap.....i did that same engine swap but to a ford pick up 1968 first gen cummins......the best engine on the best ford vehicles.........CUMMINS POWER

  • Sweet setup brah

  • Good Job: You should have insulated the exhaust manafold like they do on the Dodge Viper... It improves Turbo Performance and keeps exhaust heat under the hood 30 degrees lower. Less strain on the rubber under the hood.

  • That turbo sounds great

  • All that work and you couldn't find the time to grind off the huge "Dodge" name tag off the valve cover? Honestly though, nice conversion!

  • get u please take those ugly mud flaps off

  • I'm so jealous. Thats an orgasmic sounding engine. I wish I had one like that, haha.

  • what mpg are u getting im doing the exact same swap as u with my ex and id like to know

  • I am impressed so props. The under hood looks good to me but some like to nit pick and I'm guessing its about some of the wire runs. Easy to make those look more stock if you wanted to. No complaints here though.. keep up the good work!

  • the swap looks good. that right there is the only ford i would ever drive. cummins.

  • get the gay dodge head cover off lol.

  • dash tach dont even work. i agree its backyard.

  • i like it now all you need is the allison transmission

  • looks like a backyard swap with backyard quality work. Things could be done alot neater and cleaner.

  • @Spoken4Lyfe Do tell... Please tell me what you see as "backyard"...

  • @videophoto2000 yeah dude im interested to know what exactly looks so "backyard" about this swap as well. I think it looks good and at the tune of 15,000 trouble free miles it sounds like it was well done. i plan on throwin a cummins in my f250 later on down the road when the time is right. Not sure if i will go with a 24v or a common rail though, i love the mileage and sound of the 24v but i hate the vp44. I love the modernness of the CR and its easy power potential, just not the mileage.

  • @videophoto2000 haters hahah

  • @videophoto2000 I don't see anything backyard about that.

  • @Spoken4Lyfe since your a professional engine swapper...

  • @Spoken4Lyfe How does this look like a backyard swap? You realize that he took a Ford body and transmission and put a "not" ford standard power train in? Not everything is going to fit the same way it did in the dodge. I see that all the parts are there, the engine is mounted level and everything works. Its not as easy to swap a different engine as you think.

  • @Spoken4Lyfe then let's see YOUR video and how you can do it better

  • @Spoken4Lyfe

Where do you see "backyard" in this nice swap??

    Very nice set-up!!

  • cummins is the beeeeest!!!!!!!!!!

  • just gotta shave down that valve cover so it dont say dodge anymore

  • That is beautiful, exactly what i want to do someday. I had a 01 Excursion limited with the 7.3 that I loved, but always wanted a cummins in there.

  • god that sound makes me jiz all over the place. Im a GMC/Chevrolet fan but I like all the diesel tbh, there all the same.

They all have a little different sound and i do love the sound of a inline 6 cummins

  • haha thats like a slap in fords face.

  • SWEET!

  • how much did it cost...engine and everything...did you keep the ford tranny...better than dodge

  • @snots022 Well... 5 grand for the excursion... 2 grand for the engine with 85K miles... 3 grand for swap kit... Another grand for various parts. If you pay someone to do it it will cost tons for the labor. Yes kept the Ford tranny from the V-10. There is a custom plate to mate the engine to it which came with the swap kit.

  • @videophoto2000 i thought yu said the engine had 70k on it

  • @videophoto2000 You can't beat what you ended up with for that kind of money!

  • @videophoto2000 I know there is more misc. cost in there, but under 15gs for a school bus that still gets 20mpg and is dead reliable isnt bad. Ive been looking at doing this to a f250, but with a 12 valve to keep the wiring simple. How bad was the wiring on the 24v? Nice swap!

  • @videophoto2000 awesome wtg great work!

  • @videophoto2000 you said 70 miles in your description...

and i beleive the "backyard" quality work refers to the untied wires around the brake master cylinder and firewall, and the cheapo filter. but nice truck! i like it!

  • @videophoto2000

How is the tranny holding up? 4r100 right, and any mods to tranny?

  • ill take the cummins or the powerstroke just dont suggest a durashit

  • Simply AWESOME!

  • if you dont mind me asking how much did that conversion all cost? and how many miles where on the 24 v when u put it in?

  • @randytune88 Well... 5 grand for the excursion... 2 grand for the engine with 85K miles... 3 grand for swap kit... Another grand for various parts. If you pay someone to do it it will cost tons for the labor. This is not easy. The 12 valve is easier but not as good of an engine.

  • @videophoto2000 yeah it sounds really nice n 85k miles isnt bad on a cummins what so ever...if i ever try it ill probably rebuild a 24v or a 12v...then put it in.

  • Did u do it or a shop I'm sorry but I need alot of info thanks for your help

  • What did u have before the cummins engine did u have to change trasmission and how much was everything

  • i got a v8 gas excursion thats he engine is not working as it should i want to swap the engine for the 7.3 diesel any ideas thanks

  • @cesar68033 You should do the cummins swap... Don't waste your time with the 7.3... You will end up spending the same amount if not more on a 7.3 swap. The cummins is a better engine by far. I've had the 7.3 in an F-250 and I'll take the cummins over that any day!!!

  • @videophoto2000 a 7.3 powerstroke is a far better engine than a 24 valve cummins. i have had both a 7.3 will last far longer and make alot more power. the cummins is very over rated

  • @78f2504x4 abosolutly not my friend i have a 2500 cummins diesel that blows past your 250 turbo diesels all day and my truck now has 200000 miles on it and still runs strong

  • @78f2504x4 Where are the conversion kits to put PSDs into everything else? I didnt think so.A 7.3 isnt a pimple on the ass of any 5.9 cummins. The 7.3 is ok at best, and very problematic as it gets old, from the HPOP,injectors, and harness, oil pans rotting, and oil consumption. They dont start well in cold weather, have constant glow plug/controller issues, and are plagued with exhaust leaks before the turbo, esp in the northeast with salt on roads. Not a bad engine, but not in the same league as a Cummins

  • @JohnDiMartino i guess you for got about the dowel pin that works in loose in the crank case of the 12valve cummins......... oh yea and the 53 engine block that tends to crack.... so all you cummins asses that sit and bash power stroke need to remember that cummins still have problems

  • @godsmack8807 thats for sure. absolutely NO engine is perfect, not even a cummins.

  • @traxxasmaxx33 i love cummins i have a 24 valve i used to have a 97 7.3 power stroke. I loved it about as much. The power stroke started better in the cold and a little more quicker on the quarter, but the cummins is more snappy on the start and runs smoother on the highway. I just get sick of people saying how bad a power stroke is but deny the cummins failures.

  • @godsmack8807 the Cummins "53" blocks tend to crack, and the timing cover locater pin vibrates out and can wedge itself into the timing gears and get shot out of the block. fords have EGR cooler problems, and head gasket failures. i'm a ford guy but i'll admit that no truck is perfect, but all trucks do have certain advantages and disadvantages over each other.

  • @traxxasmaxx33 at least there is one other person who can admit that there favorite brand has probelems.

  • @godsmack8807 Thanks! Nice truck by the way :)

  • @traxxasmaxx33 you like the purple dodge

  • @traxxasmaxx33 Thanks you like the purple doge. I used to have a red with silver two tone f 250 with a power stroke.

  • @godsmack8807 oh my bad i thought you were the one that posted the vid about the excursion, i'll check it out!

  • @traxxasmaxx33 Oh i thought you seen the pic on my profile.

  • @JohnDiMartino

Just a little bit of Info for you cummins nuts, the best cummin motor is built by IH. You might think I'm full of crap but look it up. Cummins evidently also out sourced to IH (aka Navistar ). From what I have researched they are basically tractor motors, I think they are only in the 12 valves though. I just find it ironic that you guys bash the Powerstroke, but evidently the best Cummins blocks are made by the same company. Who has the last laugh now. Ha Ha HA

  • @godsmack8807

That excursion needs a quality 6.0 in it. LOL I think I'll take a inline tractor motor anytime.

  • @godsmack8807 I know that this is a very old comment, but this makes sense as Ford Motor Company actually commissioned the original Cummins. The engine was completely designed and had some small production numbers when somebody from Ford decided that the customers would respond better to a V8 diesel better. Chrysler basically took over the engine and built their trucks specifically for the engine build for the Ford. All of these big companies are in cohoots. We're just not supposed to know.

  • @jessemas27 Cummins is available in the ford F650s and F750s, just not the lower models of trucks

    Source: Ford.com

  • @godsmack8807 Wheres your proof to back up this claim? Navistar makes their own engines, cummins makes their own.

  • @videophoto2000 to be honest its all preference and luck. I had problems with duramax's, gmc's, and dodges. and if u ask me i see alot of cummins 5 spds comming into the shop over powerstrokes and duramax, although I do like the cummins engine. Power wise might as well do a cummins for the 7.3 IDI but reliability i think you jsut got lucky, there all just about the same, each having there own problems. durmax seems to be seen the least in the shop.

  • @JTyler52 Exact opposite of what my dad's shop sees... Rebuilding duramax all the time. Cracked heads and bad gaskets on pwerstrokes. But different shops with different customers doing different things....

  • @videophoto2000 mmhm, I suppose your right.

  • very cool!
