God, I miss his friendship, smile, laugh and the tears we shared. I can never forget my friend who showed me such kindness, I only hope I helped him too. Etta is on her way D
I came across the Best of Delaney and Bonnie on cd some years ago. It still ranks high among my favorites. A singular talent, as a songwriter, soulful and powerful singer and he will not be forgotten. Thanks for the post, and God bless you Delaney.
Very nice. I'm just kind of checking through YouTube seeing what kind of competition my granddaughter's up against with her new music video. It's obvious there are a lot of talented people out here.
The Strat he's using is a Fender Relic that Fender gave him. i had the good fortune of playing with Delaney for a bit before he passed. i used this guitar on some recordings on one of his last albums. sorry to nix the Duane theory... ;-)
I'm trying to figure out where I have seen the female back up vocalist. the best i can come up with is JJ Cale's rhythm guitarist of many years but i don't think so. Very familiar looking though. anyone ?
The only white guy I know that could match the soul of a black man in his vocals. What an unbelievable musical legacy and it's amazing how many people have never heard of him or his influence on pop music. RIP...too bad, so sad.
I think that Stratocaster Delaney is playing once belonged to Duane Allman. Duane gave that guitar to him because Delaney always loved it and made Duane let him use it whenever they played together. so finally he just gave it to him. I looked at some pictures and it looks like the same one judging by the wear marks.
@zbestwun2001 the guitar in question was Duane's at one time which he sold and Delaney ended up with it and then Duane wanted it back but he said; "no way" and it was a Les Paul Jr.
Thanks for posting. This music channels deep. The great musicians can just pour it out, can't they? I will check out your website - good work, keep it up.
Win, lose or draw, I love this man and his singular contribution to American R&B. He KNOWS the Blues because he has lived them. God bless you always, Delaney. ~ PtH
he will go down as a person who was way ahead of his time. he influenced clapton. betts, allman and harrison.who else can say that.delaney and bonnie had the best play with them gordon, radle, whitlock, clapton cooledge, mason, harrison, russell on and on why?because they were the beat.

Delaney and Janice Waldrop were voted most cute as seniors at Randolph High School.

Outstanding. It's no wonder him and Bonnie rose to such heights. Sadly, it is just a memory now, but a good one.

I'm not about to accuse a stranger of having a fibbing problem, but she looks nothing at all like the photos I've seen of Bekka.

If indeed that's Duane's guitar, trust me Delaney did not MAKE him give it to him, anymore than he MADE, Harrison give him his Strat.
They gifted D with them.

And he's now the singer in that blues band up in Heaven. So for now the rest of us back on Earth no longer have a voice.
Delaney, the pain was too great for you to bear so we will bear it for you. Miss you so much.

The instrumentation is so sparse, yet the arrangement is incredibly powerful. True to the soul music tradition.
