@billynunn : love the song, Im a producer/songwrIter...and I wanted to kno do u remember what keyboard you used during thIs productIon of thIs song or tha album? thx...
Bobby Nunn and his brother Billy use to be our paperboys back in Buffalo, NY(Fruitbelt neighborhood talent). Rick James is not the only talent from Buffalo.
@rufus317 Thanks Rufus...didn't know that. I grew up on the same street as Bobby and Billy Nunn. "The Party's Over" is a big request on 96.3 WHUR "Quiet Storm" in Washington, DC. Now that I think of it, the instrumentals and melody of "The Party's Over" sounds like "Dream Maker" and "Deja Vu". It's always a good thing when someone hits you up with info...never too old to learn. Thanks again!
@billynunn Hey Billy...you probably don't remember me. I'm a liitle younger than you cats. I lived at 160 Orange St between Carlton and High. You lived on Orange St. between the Expressway and Virginia. I lived next door to Carl Moore (or Carl LaRue as he was know in Buffalo band circles. I believe he played bass guitar and Jerry Rainey played drums in a local band in Buffalo. The name of the band escapes me). I use to follow Buffalo talent even as a kid.
@Wnunubian Buffalo N.Y. is in the hissous-there were a lot of good local bands in Buffalo back in the 70's-Sabata,.Last days of Time.U.S.T (united sounds of topaz).the innervisions.Phoenix-I was with Sabata for a minit until I went to the military.
The band that Billy and Bobby ere a part of (Splender) had some really nice hits on their "Splenderland " album-they were one of the few bands that had commercial success.
@rufus317 ,SORRY BUT RICK WAS NOT BOBBY'S PRODUCER, OUR FIRST ALBUM AFTER "COME GET IT ' WITH RICK WAS "SPLENDOR". CO-PRODUCED BY PHILIP BAILY, THE 2 ON MOTOWN "SECOND TO NUNN " & "PRIVATE PARTY" WERE DONE BY BOBBY & WINSTON MONSEQUE. NOT RICK...
@billynunn Billy...I have some stories that will make you laugh. Can discuss over the internet. I might get sued. We'll have to talk in person one day.
@billynunn I'm in Washington, DC. I left Buffalo to go to college (Howard U.) and have lived in Washington, DC for nearly 30 years. I go back to Buffalo occasionally to visit family and friends.
