Nice Forehand!!!! I have a strong Backhand but I started sidearm and when I had max D from my BH I gave it up. Now I am trying to get it back after 6yrs. What discs would you suggest for a Med Power FH thrower? For a variety of shots. I need to be more rounded in my game!
I switched from the Quest AT Raging Inferno with Dimple Technology to just the plain Raging Inferno (without the golfball style)...and it flies way better (doesn't turn over so much).
It's definetly something worth trying out, if you haven't already.
we carried them at the place i work in athens GA 42 Degrees.. Largest selection of discs in north GA i like to say, and when i'm there the most knowledgeable salesman. But I stopped ordering them because lot's of people complained about the durability of the plasic and they seemed a little gimicky to me after the whole "turbo putter" incident.
Gosh, theres a lot of haters and jealous people out there, huh? lol I thought these drives were phenomenal and anyone who thinks forehands are "cheating" and are whining cuz they cant toss like you, doesn't know Disc Golf very well. As a lefty, I know how important forehands are. Keep up the good work!
Hey ColinMV - make a video that explains step by step what you're doing during a throw. I need some help with my sidearm and it looks like you have solid form.
out of those i throw the wraith the most now. If i had access to a video camera now i would post a new vid, i can throw longer and more accurately now than ever. Mostly I throw the destroyer and the boss sometimes the talon.
I have more arm speed than all of them but I still cant get good consistent long drives. Maybe its a wrist snap thing which I dont feel like I get much snap, but I have modified my approach so that I now use an X-step,I put more body into it and I still dont notice a difference. As a matter of fact I seem to easily get the same distance when I just let my arm loosely hang by my side, slowly walk thru my delivery and effortlessly throw it out there. Any suggestions??
I just started playing about 6 months ago and if I get lucky and throw it completely flat,no wind ,no incline, etc. back hand I MIGHT hit about 300 if Im really lucky. I dont understand what Im doing wrong either. I have been watching vids,I play with a group of about 8-10 guys that play alot, several of them consistenly throw over 300,and I still cant throw worth a shit.I have tried experimenting with various releases, different equipment and nothing seems to work.
it takes no skill to throw a forehand shot. give some one a disc that has some athletic ability and they can throw 200-250 feet within 20 mins of starting. there isnt much technique in throwing one. also forehand is ruining the game because that's what the hippies who dont have skill use. backhand overall can get more distance than forehand but takes much more skill. forehand is useful but it shouldnt be a dominant thing
if i had time i would belive me... as soon as i have a job that i can travel away from to play i will do it. right now though it's out of the question unless someone wants to sponsor me.
It took lot's of hard work... 3 hour sessions in that very field. Much arm pain as well but it's worth it. Trust me... Just keep at it and it will come, look at the discraft instructional vids on here too they helped me a lot.
no one in the WORLD can throw a disc 1000-1500 ft.!!(which you say you can) hthose throws were easily over 300ft.(if you still think you can, post the vid on youtube as a response to the vid.)
definitely there's no way anyone could throw it five times that far... I actually did estimate my throws at nearly 500 feet again an ESTIMATE. i stepped it off (around 160 steps from where i threw to where the disc landed)and counted each step as about 3 feet. not to say that i can do that on the course, the particular day i was throwing were near perfect conditions for distance tosses and in an open field it's much easier to just crank it.
@MtnDrew23 in my opinion I would go with a champion Viking. Dx is good but only for a while, it warps quicker, so get a champion in a lighter weight

nice D, but quit throwing those overstable discs with anhnyzers, throw a disc according to its numbers, and it'll fly further.

Sounds like form issues to me. Check out the "Driving with Dan Beato" video that we made - it really helps!

throwing forehand as a dominant drive is a sign of weakness.
forehand has no technique.
backhand has a total body wind up and release.

wow, you're retarded...there is no hope to what you just said...ok, you're right and forehand sux.
DannyE5 3 years ago
As long as you're accurate and can get some good D - it really doesn't matter if you throw backhand or forehand.
I'd recommend learning both methods and using the shot the works best.

I can't throw a simple backhand worth a crap, and this guy throws near-perfect sidearm, barefoot, 500 feet. What am I doing wrong?
