  • Such a cute accent!!!

  • Imagine Rebecca Black's "Friday" in Finnish XD "Perjantai, Perjantai...!"

    I'm stupid.

  • Is it the "T" sounds like the English "D" sound?

And the "K" sounds like the English "G" sound?

    Am I right?

  • @flyleaf5433 "K" in Finnish is same as the English "K" but it is said softer, and *slightly* devoiced - only difference.

"T" is Finnish is same as English "T" but it kinda sounds like a "D", just think of it as slightly forcefull "T" but still softly said.

  • @StolzaKryptz Thank you so much, very helpful informations!

  • @flyleaf5433 No problem, if you want any further help then just send me a message^^

  • "this is getting much easier than before, right?"

    god no.

  • i love the way you say three :D

  • I think its weird how I'm English and find Finnish the easiest language to learn ever, I learn French, German and Spanish at my school and after 3 years of learning those i think I'm still better at Finnish, even though i started learning Finnish a week ago :D

oh and nice English man :)

  • Thanks for all these videos man, there great! But shouldn't it be called "Days of the week" because "weekdays" means Monday-Friday

  • I speak portuguese BR as my native language, and i listen to finnish bands like "Korpiklaani", because of this, i can pronounce the finnish with some easy =D

But the whole language and the words i have to learn, it's kinda difficult D:

    But i'll try! Let's go! :D

  • I could really learn this language, it's not so hard for me, but they speak so damn fast and I can't keep up haha

  • They say Finnish is THE toughest for english speakers....but I think Icelandic looks damn near impossible.

  • @xristo702 Icelandic is a germanic language so it should be much easier to learn the grammar. Finnish grammar is what makes it so hard to learn properly.

  • I have to learn Finish, I mean I have to be able to speck one language, and English isn't working out :/

  • Thanks.

  • @fokkerdude555

lol. Finland was Swedish in over 500 years. in the 1700 century. Who owns who? FINLAND IS SWEDISH, FINLAND IS SWEDISH, FINLAND IS SWEDISH!

  • @fokkerdude555

fuck u fuck u! Sweden ownd Finland in 500 years? Say what? Hahahha

  • thx 4 this! btw olen yskitoista vuotias. ^^ minun nimeni on NDogg

  • Tiistai sounds alot like the Frisian word for tuesday

  • Lol you are fucking adorable. Finnish is so fun to speak!!

  • I have to say, the weekdays aren't that different from the Norwegian ones (except for wednesday, friday and saturday).

    Finnish - Norwegian

    Maanantai - Mandag

    Tiistai - Tirsdag

    Torstai - Torsdag

    Sunnuntai - Søndag

  • monday in finnish sounds like a cockney geezer saying 'monday'

  • these are actually more similar to the german languages

  • I'm surprised because I speak spanish and I can really pronounce it :DD

    that's so cool!!

  • Does that mean Saturday is SInging Day??? :D

  • @crazynance No, it doesn't, haha! But I can understand why you would think that. ^^

  • apparently WEDNESDAY is harder in English than in Finnish! ;) [don't worry though- sometimes English people trip over it too]

  • Mie haluaisin tietää mist sie oot repiny siun "Sulkasiipi" n-merkin.

  • kiitos.

  • Sulkasiipi, it's a bit distracting that your end texts are usually written with bad English grammar so how do we know what you're teaching us in Finnish is the appropriate translation?

  • @lechaise ever heard of Google translator?

  • @carolwinger Google translator sucks :)

  • すごくキュートな声!

  • i really wanna learn finnish and i dont have a reason why but its hard!!!!

  • @pandasneezes1 people laught at me wen i say i like finnish.but who cares about them, i know a bounch of people that like a whole other range of non-pupular languages...it just depends how open you mind it...

  • @pandasneezes1 Why is it hard? And do you know how to speak finnish already? :D

  • Kiitos!

  • Rakastan videoita, kuulostat niin söpö :)

    lol.

  • söpöltä * (:

  • Itelläni pääsi unohtumaan viikonpäivät :ss kiitos tästä :D

  • Wow, I love that:) Thanks a whole lot:)

  • damn you finnish speak fast!!

  • Actually everyone should be able to speak their own language fast. It just needs a lot of practice.

  • i've always though that we talk sooo slow :D ( i dont speak english very well )

  • "W" - is it kaksisve or tuplave???

  • mä opin täst enkkuu ku unohin viikonpäivätmenglanniks XD

  • Finnish is the best language ever... y si hablás español es super fácil de pronunciar...

  • si es verdad, la pronunciacion es bastante parecida ;)

  • haha, exactamente... a mi no se me hace tan difficil como a otras personas..

  • A quick tip for finnish people, if you want to learn a new language spanish will be pretty easy for you, specially spoken spanish, a have a couple of finnish friends here in Malaga, Spain and they speak reaaaaly good spanish.

  • @followyourideas Como diferencias Ä y A?

  • Pffff, es difícil de explicar con palabras, pero basicamente tienes que decir E con la boca abierta en forma de A.

  • Porque usted habla español, no hay una diferencia. Para nosotros americanos, decimos "a" in inglés como "e" in español.

  • @tchuncly ä - really wide mouth, like ha ha.. a - jaw really long like England: Father

  • @followyourideas

    Exacto, nuestra lengua ayuda mucho.

  • @followyourideas es la verdad :)

  • @followyourideas Precisamente,me estoy dando cuenta de eso compañero!

  • @followyourideas Please don't compare Spanish or Italian to Finnish and Scandinavian languages when it comes about level of difficulty..cause you can't compare..

  • @followyourideas tirate unos consejos! quiero aprender! jaja

  • repeen kohta.

  • Nää on ihan mahtavia :D Jos itse en osaisi suomea, varmasti opiskelisin näiden kautta : D

Sekin on hauska, kuinka ulkomaalaiset yrittää puhua suomea. Sitähän sanotaan; harjoitus tekee mestarin! Tää on kyllä tosi tärkeä niille, jokka haluaa oppia suomea. :)

  • I have learned to say all of the days now thanks to you. Kiitos! I find it easy to learn Finish, I don't know why. I enjoy this! :)

  • You say on this that "W" is Kaksoisvee(?) when you say on your "learn letters" that W is Doublahveh, like French.

  • How do you say:

    "My favourite day is"

    "Today is"

    And what "Nähdään taas" means?

  • my favourite day is = minun lempi päiväni on...

    Today is = tänään on...

    Nähdään taas = C u again

  • Comment removed

  • "nähdään taas" means "see you"

  • "My favourite day is" = Minun lempipäiväni on (day)

    "Today is" = Tänään on

"Nähdään taas" = See you again

  • ooooh it sounds sooo cute <3

  • nää on nii hauskoi mut hyödyllisii , yhdistä hupi ja hyöty x<dd

  • Hi Sulkasiipi!

I've been trying to learn Finnish by myself. You are great at teaching it!

I really love your videos, good job! =D

  • and then my favourite xd

  • I luuuuv finnish!

It's just sooo hard to learn XD

  • some days are taken from the germanic speaking populations of the scandinavian region.

I wonder if the finns have some of their folk religion stuff in their culture aswell.

  • Vikings learned weekdays from the Germans and then we learned them from the Vikings ...

Basic linguistic feature: Peoples with hectic life develop most accurate time terms and then there is peoples with no hectic life, like Finns/Ugrians generally, Aboriginals, Eskimos, American Indians etc etc

When you live middle of nowhere is not really matter what day it is : )

  • well, considering that Vikings too were "germanic" it could be said that they named their weekdays long before they split up, since they worshipped the same gods at one point.

  • manantai for monday really sounds a bit like thai@

  • I don't think so ^-^ I live in Thailand and had to go to school there :S

  • Hei, Sulkasiipi!

LOL, I like it when you add those little remarks, like "Tuesday is Tiistai ...Tiistai (easy) " :)

I'll probably spend a few months in Finland . I know I can get by in English but I'd prefer to learn at least a little bit of Finnish and your course is a great introduction.

    Great job, kiitos!

  • alku oli ärsyttävä :D muuten ihan hyvä :)

  • HELP SOMEONE!!!When do you use the finnish akkusatiivi???HELP ME

  • HahaJubJub92, good day and thank you would be - Hyvää päivää ja kiitos :)

  • What are you talking about? In Finland 5,46 % are Swedish-speaking. Swedish is really minority language.

  • No.. The whole of Finland speak Finnish as their main language, although alot of people can also speak English and Swedish.

  • oh swedes!! do sweden n finland get along honestly?? haha

  • @Emollzor101 Btw it's otherwise, like almost the whole upper part of Sweden understands Swedish, it all doesn't matter because I love them all!

  • @Emollzor101 Ruotsalaiset on aivokuolleita sössöttäjiä. Minkä helevetin takia ne tänne tunkee?

  • Mikki vääristää aika paljon.

  • Your awesome!

Your helping me learn an interesting country which is really cool!

    Thanks!

  • wait what does 'nähdään taas' mean? she hasnt taught that yet XD

  • Its odd that tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday don't incorperate the names of the norse gods that the names derived from in english (Tyr, woden or 'Odin', Thor, and Frigg) tiistai bears some resemblance to Tyr, as does torstai to Thor, but wednesday and friday are completely different. What do they mean in Finnish?

  • They don't mean anything particular except for Keskiviikko which is literally middle week.

  • Interesting, THANKS!

  • Thanks this such big help!! ^_^

  • Thanks for all your lessons, girl. I appreciate them & you inspire me for my channel. :) Thank You!

  • I wanna learn finnish but I wondered why I've chosen this language.

It's so difficult, but that makes the languge interesting.

It sounds nice and I like Finland.

Is it possible to learn it om my own?

  • PinkCherry, you aren't alone. :) I'm teaching myself Finnish, but I highly doubt I'll be able to achieve fluency in the language without taking some classes.

    Best of luck to you!

  • hahaha ur voice is so cute :-----------D

  • Sulkasiipi, eikö olisi kannattanut sanoa noi kirjaimet englanniksi tossa alussa, vai oliko tarkotuksella sanoa Suomeksi?

  • Ne on tarkoituksella :)

  • Finnish seems very difficult but I really want to learn it, I really want to go to Finland one day. Please make more videos!! I know French, but it's not at all going to help towards learning this language.

  • Its a beautiful country... But there isnt much snow at the southren parts of it anymore. Go there at winter and north. South is just wet in winter.

  • Kiitos. I wanna learn Finnish

  • ohh gosh your accent is wonderful! :D

    I love Finnish language.

    good job! really nice videos!

    greetings from Italy ;)

  • why almost all of them have 'tai' at the end. is it like the 'day' at the end of the English ones?

  • The end -tai doesn't mean anything. Maanantai, tiistai etc (except keskiviikko) come from swedish weeknames mondag, tisdag... Swedish is related to english.

  • oh i see :] thanks for the info

  • Actually "tai" means "or", but not in this case.

  • What does keskiviiko mean literally? Maybe "middle of wweek" or something? =)

  • That's correct, keski=middle viikko=week.

  • Oops!! Sorry evelynthepenguin, I ACCIDENTLY marked your message as a spam when I was trying to choose "reply"...

The suffix -kin and the word "myös" mean the same, does not matter which one you use!

  • Sulkasiipi=Featherwing

  • suomen kieli on kaunis :)

  • Kiitos!

  • Ha, I was in class today in America and I was all like No Mita Vittuu Sa Sit Mulkoilet Ajiia?

And I called my teacher a shit nose, but I can't exactly spell the way to say it, so could you hook me up with that?

  • thanks. umm... i have another question. when you are using the word "also", how do you know when to use myös and when to use the suffix?

  • I speak finish. If I had a camera I'd help out with pronunciation <3 Still, brilliant job keep it up!

  • how would you say weekend? and could i have the pronunciation with it? i've just started trying to learn finnish, but i love how it sounds and don't want to butcher it. :)

  • Viikonloppu. I'm not good at making the pronounciation guidations. :(

  • Are you Finnish, cause I am?

  • Try to speak Circassian and you will see if the Finnish Language is easy...:P

  • What is Cicassian?

  • It's Circassian...we came from Russia

180 years ago we were in a war against Russia

and now we are in diffrent placen in the world...you can read more on WIKI

  • circassian is difficult indeed..........

.....my mothertongue's greek and i dont find finnish really difficult......:).......

  • wow it's really amazing that people know about as the Circassians :P

  • why does it surprise u? :s :p

  • Finnish pronounciation is so similar with Turkish. Only the sound ä doesn't exist in Turkish. In Turkish "every sound has one character and every character has one sound" just like Finnish. Hey Sulkasiipi! I watched your other videos. It's interesting that "Turkish is an agglutinative language like Finnish" and "word order is the same too". Of course there are many differences. However, less differences than Latin languages.

  • They are of the same family aren't they?

  • In theory, Turkish and Finnish belong to Ural-Altaic languages. As a Turkish, if I speak no second language, then it wouldn't be hard to learn Finnish. I don't speak Finnish, but I can say that Finnish is not hard to learn for a Turk. As I said before they are AGGLUTINATIVE. There are no much prepositions in Turkish, too. Because no need to use them when there are so many inflections.

  • how do u say

    to day is .....

    and

    yesterday , yesterday was

    tomorrow is....

  • kuinka sinä sanot

    tänään on...

    ja

    eilen, eilen oli

    huomenna on :)
