@BlkbeemerE46 My doctor told me that it would be around $5000 or less but he didn't tell me which type of cauterization I would get. I ended up not getting the cauterization done because I was too scared at the time... even though he said the surgery would be life changing since my Epistaxis was so severe. I had the packing done, the 1 foot endoscope done (to look deep inside my nasal cavity), but I have yet to get the surgery done.
My sister had this done when she was younger. She said it wasn't painful, but her eyes watered the entire time. The doctor did not numb it which shocked her.
My ENT doctor wants me to go in for the Electrocauterization. I don't know what that is like, but I am not looking forward to it. Of course if it stops my nosebleeds then Hooray!!
NO! Do not do more than 1 of these things! I had it done twice in my nose and my nose bleeds have gotten worse! On a good day, my bloody nose lasts about an hour. the worst was my 4 hour long one.

It does NOT hurt at all. Just feels like you bumped your nose after a few hours. My MD gave me percocets but I didn't take them at all. Just a mild discomfort afterwards. NO BIG DEAL!!!! Good luck!!

i just had this done about 2 hours ago. i didnt feel any pain at all just a little pressure from the silver nitrate stick being applied. very simple process takes only a minute or two.

@derekrhode quit over-exaggerating, it hurts but its no where near as bad as you say it is. I had this done when i was 17, it only hurt for about 15min. It was just like a little burning sensation but nothing more than that.
@RiZeXxXUp That depends on how it was done. My first time I didn't feel much at all and my second time was absolutely horrible... I thought I was going to faint and when I had walk out of the doctor's office it felt like my head was about to explode. I can say for sure, it was one of the worst pains I've ever felt in my life. It was much worse than taking an arterial blood test. It's a test where the doctor stick a large syringe in your wrist and close to the bone of the wrist to find an artery.
@rctriplefresh5 I think they did it differently the first and second time. He used some yellow stuff the first time, and said it should stop bleeding for around 2 years. It stopped bleeding for 3 years. The second time they did it just like this, and the doctor said it should be permanent. I haven't had a nosebleed since. :)
Even though this method can be very painful, I still recommend it if you want your nose to permanently stop bleeding. :) I can actually feel the scar in my nose. :p
I *just* had this done three hours ago, both nostrils, and let me tell you this: I have very high tolerance for any kind of pain or medical procedure... and this absolutely sucked. As the anesthetic wears off pain in your nose, teeth, jaw, and such areas intensifies greatly. The entire procedure itself doesn't really hurt, it's mainly uncomfortable. It's after the procedure that sucks most... plus your nose runs like crazy and you feel like you have a very severe head cold.
I get nose bleeds but I feel cauterisation is silly. If my body does it naturally it's for a reason and the reason tends to be when I have too many sugary foods

Didn't know some doctors used anesthetic for this. I had it done on me a long time ago, it felt like intense cold on skin. Wasn't SO bad to be honest. If you ever had plantar warts removed with liquid nitrogen, feels similar.

Chronic nosebleeding can also be caused by a genetic disorder called HHT. Nasal cauterization is VERY RISKY to do if you have HHT because it could make things worse in the long run.

@greenrocks04 they didn't do any sedation with me. If i were you i would definetly ask to be sedated. They literately gave me something to bite down on. Not sure what was up with that doctor.. it was a small town.

It really is a horrible pain!!! I didn't get it done in my nose, but my armpit and in a few weeks have to have another cortorization done to my armpit. I want to skip my appointment all together. The first time it was done it hurt so bad it gave me a huge spasm.
I recently had my nose chemically cauterized due to nose bleeds and it still bleeds! However as soon as the cauterization was done the doc just said "all done have a nice day"...didn't say anything about post cauterization treatment or anything...and I've been putting ointment in my nose, using saline sprays and I even have a steam humidifier in my bedroom I use every night, yet I still get these nose bleeds.

Please check out Nosebudd.com. Its an ice/gel pack that fits on the sides and bridge
of the nose. Nothing is put inside the nose only cold on the surface. pulling out packing from the nostrils can make bleeding site worse. In anycase, thanks for the video. I thought that would hurt more.

How much a does a procedure like this usually cost? When I hate my vessels caurterized before they put me to sleep, My nose is starting to bleed again, and I don't have any form of medicare so I am trying to find the cheapest method of cauterization.

just had mine done yesterday and it did sting even though i was numbed, and the runny nose afterwards. goodness! i wasn't allowed to drink any water for upto a hour after cos the water may have gone down the wrong tube and possiblity of in my lungs. hopefully i will not have to go back.

Please check out Nosebudd.com. Its an ice/gel pack that fits on the sides and bridge
of the nose. Nothing is put inside the nose only cold on the surface. pulling out packing from the nostrils can make bleeding site worse. In anycase, thanks for the video. I thought that would hurt more.

How much a does a procedure like this usually cost? When I hate my vessels caurterized before they put me to sleep, My nose is starting to bleed again, and I don't have any form of medicare so I am trying to find the cheapest method of cauterization.

I've had it done in th epast (many years ago) - and its totally painless.
The temptation to blow your nose hard is great however (I was told to avoid blowing to hard).
I need to have it done again - no big deal, but the last time I had it done was about 15 to 20 years ago.

i had to get this done when i was about 6, i fell down the stairs at our house and hit my face off the bottom. it stung a lot but it stopped the bleeding okay

just had mine done yesterday and it did sting even though i was numbed, and the runny nose afterwards. goodness! i wasn't allowed to drink any water for upto a hour after cos the water may have gone down the wrong tube and possiblity of in my lungs. hopefully i will not have to go back.
