I always like digimon and digimon'll always love my uncle Billy who showed me that digimon existed since 2008 that I started to like digimon and the character I like most is the Takeru and I'm just like he did not notice I have not as ja zerei game digimon world 1 and quasee zerei digimon world 3 when I was about to beat the game crashed after i broke my ps1 al conswertar this year I'll kiss it goodbye I'm not the U.S. or Japan I'm from Brazil I just translated.

I tried to watch the series in 3D via a software of mine (YES I have all Japanese Digimon eps)...and it seemd to be working a LIIIL bit....yea..not that much..specially in the intro, when Taichi and the others get sucked and the DIGITAL MONSTER letters fly around, then the part where there is a graphic of file island and devimon rising up and facing us, that made it realistic sort of...but still....ORIGINAL DIGIMON: RESPECT...DUB:...well...it WAS stupid but still respect... xD

I used to watch this as a kid. Thank God they dubbed the Japanese version in my language, the English version sucks -.-

Back then I never understood the power of re-runs... and cd... and dvd's weren't that usual...

The english dub is actually really close to the japanese version (apart from the new soundtrack which is an abomination) - theres a few post 9/11 edits made to it after it was dubbed like removals of mentions of a terrorist attack in Japan, and some building thing was cut out.

@17Jamie17 Actually, no. The english dub is filled with stupid jokes even in scenes that were supposed to be serious, while the japanese version has a more serious tone. Also, there is the tipical censorship of alcohol, death and some violence (like Vamdemon whipping Tailmon).

That's true, i think the main reason that I'm okay with the english dub is that Iu was seven when I watched it, and the nostalgia cancels out all of the issues I would normally have with the censorship of the show

@drmr0915 That's the same reason I have fond memories of the Brazilian dub, I was a kid. Thing is, our version was based in the japanese version in terms of dialogue and no censorship, but the main characters' names and terms (digivolution instead of evolution) were taken from the US version. Watching that show while I lunched before going to school was amazing.

The fond memories definitely make it better, but one thing that was unique about the english dub was that they didn't hide any references that let the viewers know that the protagonists were from Japan. Quite frankly that sort of thing has been censored out of North American dubs. Like they make the fact that it's taking place in Japan ambiguous, but this dub did not, so I think it was a (relatively) liberal thing for them to do.

they made gabumon purple and named psychemon..... that's kinda weird, don't ya think? seeing my favorite digimon of adventure on xros wars, but purple... i like my old gabu better :'( but still, glad to see him again, even if he's now purple :P

@GangstaKenny10 Saban actually DID make Digimon look stupid as a kid's show for the US. I never understood YTF they replaced the names of the characters and some Digimons...ok Soundtracks are an exception, they maybe changed for copyright issues (read in wiki :\ )....but they even changed the qualities of the characters: Koushiro is intelligent, so is Jou, but in the dub, Izzy (yes) and Joe (ytf 'e'?) are both dumbos :( ...FUCKIN SAKE SABAN!!! Well,,they DID make good power ranger series xD

I just watched it. Can't say I like it, tough.

I usually don't like those kinds of openings that explicitly say things about the anime.

It's best when they have subtle meanings and look like songs you'd hear in any radio.

And about the US version, you're not losing anything by not watching it, it's beyond awful =P

I really hate that for Adventure the Brazilian version used the US opening... We didn't get a decent opening until Tamers =/

From what I know, Bandai of America wasn't responsible for the intro. Bandai's other licensed anime series (.Hack//Sign, Gundam 00, etc) all kept their original intros.

Mostly because at the time Digimon came out in the US, companies still thought that Americans couldn't handle Japanese anything.

No anime retained its original Japanese opening...or at least very few did.
