Loved your series on the Les Paul Studio, the end result looked and sounded amazing! Being a lefty though, this V project strikes a "chord" with me...just subbed your channel.
@HarvesterBob It really depends on the height of the bridge that you're using. I can't post a link, but if you google "neck angle calculator" it will take you to a site titled tundraman. he's got a good neck angle calculator there.
@somervillefire Most definitely. Some of my construction standards are based from that guitar. The 1st fret block being rotated, and the rounded fretboard corners came from the Concorde. Glad you noticed!
hey i just spray painted my guitar about three days ago but the thing has a really strong paint smell to it and gives me headaces any sugestions on how to get ride of the smell?
@agentpissant42 you can do one of three things, I guess. 1. sand everything flat with a block, and keep sanding until flat. Scribble in pencil lightly on the face of the guitar. When the pencil is all gone, you're flat. This could potentially impact things like neck angle and bridge height. 2. same as step 1, but add some kind of veneer if needed to bring the height back to where it was. 3. fill the deep areas with filler and paint solid color. 4. depending on the area, it could become a contour
hey sully what would recomend, for stripping a guitar, should I just sand it down, or get some paint stripper, The guitar I wanna redo has a tigerstripping vaneer on it and I dont wanna sand away the stips you know what I mean.. help would be awesome
@Medirtdog it depends on a lot of things. Is there binding? If so, stripper will melt it. So that's bad. :) As far as the tiger stripe vaneer, do you mean that it's a figured maple top or that it has a tiger stripe pattern painted on it? I'd probably carefully sand it, but first look inside the pickup cavities to see how thick it is. I did a video about this sort of thing, so see if that helps.
@TallonIV776V I wouldn't build that. Jackson's headstock is trademarked by them and I'm not interested in getting cease and desist letters from them. Sorry.
I know it's a lefty but you could've just plugged it in and hit an upside down D chord or sumtin'... I haven't felt this let down since I found out what Easy-Off was really meant for:(
@redrocker1055 heh. nice! I did have to try to play it, but there's no need for video documentation of that. Besides, wouldn't you rather see DJ play it?
You have just guaranteed your immortality, that instrument will only get better with age and create music forever... Sorry, I've had 4 Pacificos, but seriously, art is our best human endevour, and you sir, are an artist!.Thanks.

the first fret kinda reminds me of Randy's Concorde with the large first fret. like his is extra wide. did you do that on purpose?

Hey Sully,
I just sanded down my guitar to the bare wood and I wanted to ask you a few questions:
1. What would be the best way to smooth out/flatten out some areas where I sanded too far down and, as a result, the guitar face is uneven?
2. What would be the best way to clean the bare wood before I start with tung oil varnish and wetsanding?
Thanks!
