  • im looking forward for your next update =)

  • the dogs are so cute!

i grow 3 varieties.... burmanica (burmese) mainly harvested for timber usage; buddha's belly for ornamental; and betong (from malaysia) mainly use for the edible shoots and can be used for timber too.... i live in a very dry area of far north queensland and they are not dormant at all... they will grow as long as they get watered... i can control the rate of growth by limiting the water supply....

soon ill get my timur black! very exciting!!

    you've done well....

  • i just watched all of your videos, and I'm sad there aren't more. They've all been helpful and educational. Thank you... your time wasn't wasted!

  • The 4 year myth with phyllostachys bamboo is fake. All my running bamboos will send out rhizomes and usually make shoots as they go along. Some running species won't even run since I'm in the north and the growing season isn't long enough.

  • cool , keep the videos and updates coming :)

  • Great vid. Your yard looks just wonderful. I have bamboo along one side of the house that was put in years before us, for privacy. Mine is single stalks. I love your clumps. Mine is about 10 metres and looks like your short stuff. Heaps more come up. I have been using it for stakes. Very handy. It has concrete deep undergrtound down its sides. Love the rocks.

  • Cool video, I might try Bamboo even if I live in Canada. I've read that it could be grown as a perenial and that you can eat a lot of it since it grows like crazy! oh and by the way isn't bamboo a little invasive if it's in a warmer climate? K you said it lol

  • Certain varieties will be ok in Cananda, some can handle very low temperatures while others won't survive. Just google bamboo types to check which ones are cool. I think this one (Timor Black) can handle down to around -35 deg. celcius.

  • @kiyafarm I see, well since they all seem to be pretty invasive I'll try and get one that will die during winter....but then again, contained in a kiddie pool on cement I guess it coudln't spread.Oh by the way do you eat the young shoots?

  • nice
