Bumpin this song in my 86 Jetta in good ol' Herndon, VA, 18 freakin years ago! I gotta revisit all this stuff and crank it for the kids..next up Common Sense, Guru, KRS-One....
When is the last time you seen brothers shoot a video IN THE WOODS? We need an 'Occupy the Music Industry' movement next. Tired of all this bullshit on the radio and in the public realm.
I was in the 9th grade when this came out. I remember getting mad at my mom because i didn't get home in time to watch rap city and catch this video. This is so timeless.
This was my best friend once, this whole tape. Was in VA, in the park by myself, sittin on a log nodding to the walkman, couldn't wait to join the military to get away from my unhappy home. When I hear this I think of my life in transition. Music meant a lot to me then, when nobody knew.
Im from cali but I understand the originators of hip hop, East coast....I used to strike through the park hella cold, Blazin up with my old school walkman, bumpin this amongst many.....
This song/video used to be on all the damn time on BET back in the day.
As a freshman in my college dorm room, I'd lay down to take a nap, this song would be on & when I'd wake up, it seems like it'd be on as well & I used to be SO ANNOYED with this song LOL!!
Shit.I was the only 1 Rockin this back in 92 in Stockton Ca.I've been lookin for this for a good minute. This is my shit. Not too many people feel this jam..
@sauce444 You weren't the only bumpin' this in Stockton, Cali back in the day. I wore this tape out! BTW, this cut came out in '94, but nevertheless it was a great time for Hip Hop!
Or maybe it's because the morons in the club, of all races don't want to hear a message, they just want to dance. Record execs just want to make money, they don't care how anyone is being portrayed.
Man, I wish I could start my own record label. That's all it would take 2 shut all this shit down. Scout out some new acts THAT sound NOTHING like the rappers today. Basically embede into their heads to not dress like Lil Wayne or young jeezy. Have their own identity. Have their own way or dressing and write about ALL subjects from racial profiling, hustling, infidelity, catching STD's.... & murder the track up at the same time when they do it. It's time for change. I'm sick of the shit on radio
@phesterjr ....I cant agree with you more ..put your best foot forward and do the damn thang !! Start your label ..There many grants are available to you ..you can find anything you want online ..A closed mouth dont get fed...Young brother I believe that you can change the game and take Hip-Hop back to its original beginnigs ..Peace and blessings Sis Khadijah
@phesterjr DON'T just WISH it MAKE it happen. There's an old saying: if You See something wrong that NOBODY else sees it's YOUR job to fix it. Evil can only triumph when Good people sit by and do nothing. Make your record label happen and You'll be SURPRISED at how many of Us will get behind you because we're sick of this bullshit too.
Boogiemonsters are dope. They were slept on heavily when they dropped. Tough making your debut in 1994 which is probably my favorite year for hip hop. I miss cats like them, UMCs, Pharcyde, KMD and other carefree hip hop artists.
Truly real Hip-Hop.. The best music never went pop. I dont know if thats bad or if its good; I would say good for US who know it. Unfortunate for those who never got to hear it
CLASSIC. The album was dope
