id agree with the atmosphere part...the music + the fact that everything was so damn dark creeped me out...the music made it worse lol but i think diablo 2 made it more of a story, more interactive and not so much dungeon crawling. I like D2 more because i was immersed in an environment that was akin to a world. We got to know more of what the world of sanctuary was like

@gruntshunts123 While i agree D2 made vital improvements, and was probably overall a better game content and feature-wise, the first one has so much more atmosphere, and that helps in making a more satisfying experience for many people. D2 had some potential to recreate some of the same atmosphere with the monastery, but the music in there wasn't too interesting, and the overall fear factor was gone. Still, both are great games though. Diablo 1 just needs all quests in MP and less hackers.

Diablo gave me nightmares, being 10 years old playing it for the first time. It's what got me interested in the occult and hell and stuff. I've grown out of it, but sometimes I'll occasionally load up my old packard bell computer and play some single player.

Diablo 2 was good but did not amount to the epicness of the first. I hope diablo 3 will avenge it, but by the looks of the gameplay, probably not.
