Every car I ever owned used to get beated by GTIs. It's only since I bought my BMW 130 that they no longer cause me problems. Should it really take a 260bhp rwd hatch to conquer one??? Those things are insane!
The good thing regarding the LPS3000 Maha is that it has correction standards according to ISO so by simply using these correction factors you can easily see what is the real power of your car(well not exactly but more real numbers than other dynos).
P.S. Even Maxi gr N race cars(106/Saxo) don't have 140hp...

Wrong......think u will find 106GTI 0-60 is in its mid 7's..................i no a saxo VTS stock is 7.2's and no way are they 6.5secs thats quicker then my glanza and my glanza 0-60 stock is 6.9secs

VTS are rubbish i own 197 and smoke them whenever they try it on the 106 1.9 GTI is fast but no match for a DECENT driver in a 197. My 197 keeps up with everything even 330i BMW only race ive lost so far is passat cc R36 engine. dont talk rubbish pug is better rattles to death at 100
you need to do research mate the 106 gti is a 1.6 the only 1.9gti worth talking about is the 205 but the 106 biggest engine is a 1.6 gti xsi and rallye been driving them since i had a licence pal
its not that surprising, up to 60 the 106's are pretty rapid so if the clio driver had a bad start he was never gonna catch up in such a short race! My gti keeps up with my friends 172, always losing slightly but thats expected and I've had headwork, got an induction kit and standard exhaust sadly... So I reckon the clio driver was just a bit shit and got punished by a better driver in a nippy car (not necessarily faster)
If I quite remember right, the peugeot 106 gti in this video is standard without including the cold air intake system installed.
I've chat the person who owns this car few times (lives in the same region) and great car! Too bad for the clio it lost... :) Nothing against Renaults...

Hahaha ! Your saying Pug build quaility is better than Renaults?!?! I know mates from 106owners Club and all of them admit that Renaults quailty and the Clio's speed it much better than the 106 GTi. The 106 in this video is not standard, proberly got a manifold, de-cat + more. Standard for standard the clio would shit on it. Plus the 197 weighs about 10x more. Strip down the 197 and it would be a different story. Try a 182....much better tbh.
agreed, i owned a 182 cup and drove a mates 197 a few times - id have the 182 anyday. also i owned a black 106 gti and have also owned a saxo vts (same car underneath i know) and id say 106 is probably quicker to about 40mph, then even the much heaver 197 would come back at it. either 106 is tuned, or 197 didnt try...

k-tec racing have a demo car with throttle bodies, forged pistons, high profile cams and the rest of the crap with a view to getting 250bhp....
I have similar mods on a 172, ss exhaust/sport cat, a carbon fibre simota ram air (which is better than a piperx viper) and the same ktec remap. Power output is approximatly 190bhp lol
it mayb only be a 1.6 but there fast from std and not much slower than the 197, the 197 shud of won if driven properlly but dont underestimate the gti/vts

Well,no offence,but probably your experiences are not quite right...
Mine has been measured at 140hp(non stock engine) at a Maha LPS3000 and it desn't make 0-100 at less than 7 sec.

at the same dyno,stock engines are measured at 118-124hp and with induction and full exhaust not more than 130(might reach 135 with altered ECU).

I don't believe that Clio in standard form is extremely fast,on the contrary,it is just quick but these facts don't make the 106 muck quicker...
A 106 or Saxo can't get from 0 to 100 KMH in less than 8 sec(measured with a proper device,not a hand watch!!!).
It might drop below 8 if you measure 0-60 MILES(with rev being at 7400) which can be achieved in second gear but nowhere close to 7,5 sec or lower...

Guys the clio is not really a light car, a good 106 GTI goes in 6,2-6,5sec 0-100km/h, STOCK!!
Have a look in the reality! both cars are same fast, but from 190 to 230km/h the Clio is a bit faster, thats all.

the stock 106 gti has only 118 BHP, that's why it does 0-100 in 8-8,5 sec.
it's impossible having 135 hp being stock.
but it's pretty light only with 925 kg, that helps a lot

197 with free flow exhausts and apollo air intake system.
Stock was around 6.8 to 100
