  • I believe Georgeann was the closest to winning the $10,000 in the consolation round of the tournament.

  • Did the celebrity know before they played whether this was for $100,000 or not or did they wait until the host mentioned it.

  • Not to ruin the outcome, but Georgeann went onto become the biggest winner in PyraMID HISTORY, DIDN'T SHE?

  • Oh, ok, thanks, being it was CBS's limit.

  • I wonder what would've happened if Georgeann won the big money $100,000 would her championship be over or would she still return to play again.

  • @tpir1972

If she had won the $100,000, she would have been the champion, therefore, she would not have any further plays. Contestants who won the $100,000 during those tournaments would automatically be done and go home with their winnings. Hope this helps.

  • PENETRATE, I thought that was tough.

  • I think that Lauri was 22 when she played her 1 and only tournament--very young but yet VERY BRIGHT for both this game and Super Password

  • Just wondering, what was the font fopr the words in the front game?

  • Is the Laurie the youngest to ever give away $100,000?

  • I like Mary's reaction when she won, DID I GO, DID I GO?

  • @tpir1972 It's like... well let's see... The winning bells are going off, the "Pyramid" theme song is trumpeting throughout the studio, the audience has ERUPTED in cheers... Ummm.... yeah, Mary... YOU JUST WON $100,000!!! :-D :-D

  • Imagine if the tournament was hit in 1 day?

  • DC era, OH, MY GOD, Dick Clark, wow did I get lost, I thought you meant the Washington DC era

  • This is also one tournament win when the trilons did not dance.

  • @tpir1972 The trlions didn't wiggle on Cheryl Reinwand's or Denise Bumbliss's either...

  • Is this the first tournament when an announcer said TOURNAMENT WEEK?

  • Is this the first tournament when an announcer said TOURNAMENT WEEK?

  • Is this the first tournament when an announcer said TOURNAMENT WEEK?

  • Is that why there was a brief delay when she first said PENTRATE, people didn't here her?

  • For ISSUED about an ARREST WARRENT.

  • Laurie made a lot of appearances on the daytime show, but is this her only appearance on the nighttime show?

  • Laurie made a ot of appearances on the aytime show, but is this her only appearance on the nighttime show?

  • @tpir1972

No. I actually have several tapes of this show that my great-aunt had recorded for me a few years ago. As it turned out, after Mary won this tournament, Lauri had appeared throughout that week. I saw an episode from shortly later that week where she helped Georgann win $25,000 in the second winner's circle round. As for Georgann, I don't know if she came back for the next tournament after this one or not. All I know is that she won another $25,000 in a later show.

  • @Matto2t Actually Georgeann did not return for the next tournament with 55 seconds. But she had a great run though. Her final match was against Natalie Steele, Super Password's only TOC winner!

  • @PedroGMan

OK, thanks for filling in about that. Until now, I had been wondering if she made it back for the next tournament, but you clarified it for me. Thanks for the input. It's good to know that she had a great run on that program. She played a great game. I hope life is treating her well.

  • The 80s were the best version of Pyramid with the $25,000 and of course $100,000

  • WHat never happened is a contestant winning the $100K and still being the pre-tournament champion, or a champion who qualified for a $100K tournament and then returned as champion post-tournament and managed to qualify for a second $100K tournament. GSN aired this tourney episode on Xmas Day 2000(6PM EST), among a number of other times. One of Mary's appearance from CBS Match Game roughly a decade earlier, where she won several games, aired immediately after that(6:30PM EST)

  • Wow....they used COMPARTMENTS for the $250 subject in the second winner's circle. Things with DIRECTIONS and Things that are ISSUED are not cakewalks either.

  • The first and ONLY African-American $100,000 winner in "Pyramid's" history!! :-D

  • Post all the Tournaments.

  • Do you have the 5th tournament win?

  • @TexasTV Georgeanne is not the only carryover champion from the tournament, it happened twice, another one after the 5th tournament returned to play again, and she almost made it to this tournament.

  • I believe this is the only tournament win on a Monday.

  • @tpir1972 You may be right, if you tune in to the episode 6 of Tournament #11, the $100K was not won on that episode either, and the $100K was won after 13 attempts of that tourney. GSN's Game Show Saturday Night marathon had episodes from the first tournament, Tournament #4 and Tournament #7. This tournament lasted for 6 episodes total which was why episodes from this tourney didn't air on GSSN, but IIRC, this tourney did air in part to carry us to the new calendar year.

  • How come Georganne returned the next day? I didn't think you could return after a tournament was over. Anyway, thanks for posting this. I hope you can post more episodes from the Dick Clark era that is not being broadcast right now.

  • @NYBredBamaFed Georganne was the current champion before the tournament started.

  • @TexasTV Yeah, in a very rare occurance. It also happened to feature her being the biggest Non-Tournament $100k PYramid Winner with over $67k, I think.

  • @GameShowGarbage $62,550 to be exact! That's why I was hoping you would post the rest of GeorgeAnne Wright's appearance from that week! Thanks TexasTV! Looking forward to seeing these episodes again!

  • @NYBredBamaFed GREATEST GAME SHOW EVER!!!

  • Lol! I did not know that. But do you have thw Wednesday show from that week?

  • @PedroGMan I'll upload it in the coming days.

  • From 1/28/87 to be exact!

  • @PedroGMan Thanks for the correction.

  • @PedroGMan Actually, this is from 1/26/87, first rerun on GSN on November 9, 1998 and Family Feud that day was at December 14, 1977, which this episode preceded.

  • @PedroGMan I was just two months old... ;-)

  • @PedroGMan I like the "exact" double entendre: that was the winning category, as I recall, for Georgeanne. I, too, would love to see that bonus round again.

  • Great Tournament Win! But does anybody have the episode from 2 days later?! One of my all-time favorite episodes!
