i really enjoy your tutorials, thank you very much for making them. now, i have a question: why is it that some people say it is not good for beginners to use the transpose button? i'm a guitarist so i don't have much time to learn piano and i was wondering if it could be a smart thing to learn songs in c and use the transpose button to play them in different keys. what is your opinion on the matter?
@matimaui It is OK to do it all in C and use the button if you use only one keyboard. It is good to learn how to play in different keys if you use different pianos. Thanks.
cit de rapid esti, extraordinar. esti tareeee.... multumesc pentru lectiile super... succes... thank you very much. And tell me if you are not a proffesionall teacher?
good video, but from lesson 4 missing the notes in writing on the screen, as they can get hard to be sure of when just spoken quite quickly. but thanks, it's great.
Love all the stuff that I have seen on your site Tom. Your keyboard tutorials are excellent, very worthwhile and informative. You have taught me so much and it is greatfully appreciated as I learn keyboard. Thank you so much. Mike.....in England!
Great videos man, I've recently gotten back into piano after 20 years of not playing, and while I enjoy putting time into the basics/theory/reading sheet music that my teacher has for me, throwing in a bit of the blues/jazz/stride/boogie improve I've been learning from you makes it fun! I hope I get to hear you really cut it up in a later video.
@3fw34f It is not a song. It is just a chord pattern that was used for hundreds of songs such as You Send Me, All I have to do is Dream, Earth Angel, Angel Baby, Blue Moon and many others.
sir , wt is the difference between playing piano when reading notes and plying chord without noe hw to read music .. do i have to learn hw to read music .. because if i dunno hw to read how am i suppose to ply songs in the book
I do not use books or sheet music. If I hear a song I want to learn I just sit down at the piano or keyboard and play some chords until I find the right ones for my voice. If you work with an orchestra that has written music for its arrangements you would need to learn how to read music. If you need to learn a song in a book it probably has the chord symbols written in the book. Some books do not have chords written. I never use books. If you need to learn from a book I cannot help you. Thanks.
thank you once again much appreciated,,,and thank you for taking the time to give us who are learning your experiance free on youtube,,,take care wishing you well all the best....Mac
dear Featureman i ask as im sure you knw yr business, i knw sod all, but am learning,,and got a bit confused in yr video at the point 2.00 where u say its a c whilst holding down e g then the c keys,,sorry ,, as u say c e g make a c chord does it work backwards as well,, c g e, as i say im only learning would appreciate yr advice,,, and thanks for getting back to me, enjoy yr lessons take care all the best......
Any combination of C and E and G notes is a C chord. Use many variations as you play and you will learn how certain configurations sound better at different times. Experiment and practice. Thanks.
great stuff ! I am a producer in london Uk ! I make dance music etc, learning and making my music ! Doing some stuff thats doing ok ! Just a matter of learning more playing as you do ! etc and understanding the chords etc, how and why things work how they do! So thank you for posting as its becoming a great help ! i will be getting on the piano tommorrow to practice!
Someday I will do some singing tips again. Mainly be sure the song is in a key that is comfortable for your voice. Try different keys until you find the one that works best for each song you sing. You will sing different songs in different keys, not always the same key. Thanks.
Fantastic direction. I'm very fascinated about the pedagogy of teaching music, piano, and specific types of music. I think you explain both the "forest" (theory) and the trees (how to play) masterfully.
Mr.Willet, you're the best in internet for piano tuturial.I know little bit but not to much.Your teaching wery heplful for me Thanks.Regards from Istanbul.
One more time thanks again!, I'll just skip saying it till the end o the tutorials, except when I have a question. But you know I say it everytime I watch some of your videos!
Hi. I will gradually put up many more tutorials. I will not be using any copyright songs in the new tutorials so I have taken down the old tutorials that had copyright songs. I will be showing all the chords and riffs and I will be explaining how they are used in songs and I will show in future tutorials where to get the chords for the various songs for free. Thanks. Do practice with the new keyboard. You will be able to play whatever you decide to play.
Thank you for this wonderfull videos =]

Got'ta love the Jerry Lee Lewis.
But you didn't comment on me being third.
Maybe it was cause the BigLon mis-spelled it,
and you didn't know what the heck I was a talkin' bout.
BigLon 3 years ago
Third is still in the running. You lost by a nose. Durante and Cyrano beat you.

Dang it.

Someday,
the BigLon hopes to be first.
Maybe there's a prize or something.
