I have a rare 2007 nitro finish daphne blue highway one single coil strat would shit all over any American standard. 2007 Highway one has much better tone/tone versatility/sustain and feel. The 2007 daphne blue HWY 1 sell for 1,200 and more find one first
Fenderfan if you want a strat that does everything i suggust you play a 2007 highway one strat thats even if you can find one. The 07 highway one strat is the superior strat over the american standard strat!
Have if you guys could swing by my channel and check my demo of my strat i would be very grateful! I'm just starting this hole youtube thing and your support could be the difference :)
Why anyone would buy a Mexican Strat and then spend a couple of hundred bucks to upgrade the pickups? Just buy the American Strat in the first place. What little money you save , you lose in resale value. The Mexican Strat will never be worth anything. Plus you get a better quality guitar when you buy the American Strat.
@fenderrfan same i want sunburst with maple fretboard and neck. i played one of these at my school but its white. i want a custom shop strat without relics all over the body. Same as yours.
Is it possible to get a standard american strat with just 21 frets? I know it could be usefull to have 22 frets but i cant find any stantard strats with just 21 frets that are made in USA, but the standard stratocaster that is made in Mexico have 21 frets...
mexican strat ($399 in GC) + good pick ups ($150-$200 in GC) = american strat sound quality way cheaper but you dont get the quality hardware. the chaepest version of american strat is about ($800-$1000).
Yes, I know that. but did enyone hear the difference between those guitars? I mean is it ok to give about 600-700 bucks more for almost the same thing?
I have a Mexi Strat and it sounds just as good, or better, as an American Strat. A lot of the tone comes from the pickups you have in the guitar. I had one of the best blues players in my town play my guitar (fitted with the Malmsteen pickups) and he wanted to buy it on the spot; He thought it sounded better than his American Strats. With that said, the American models have better hardware, but you can easily mod your guitar.
I wouldn't recommend falling into that trap. The Fender USA line looks, sounds and PLAYS better than the Mexican line in every way. If you are going to swap out your pups straight away, you might as well save up for the American Strat or get into the Deluxe series with S-1 Switching and SCN noiseless pickups. I have owned Mexican and American Fender instruments and rest assured, there is no comparison between the two. USA is worth every penny extra you will pay.
Falling into that trap? WTF? The only trap I see is people paying the kinds of money they do for guitars. If I had the SCN pickups I'd still swap them out.... Rest assured I have played both as well. It's ridiculous to me to think that people are taken on the marketing of so many guitars, and they become convinced they have to pay $1000+ before they can play or sound worth a damn.
i agree that you can make an average guitar (no hate here im just trying to make a point:D) sound great with some very good pickups. But better wood and better craftsmanship make an istrument to have better potential
Well wood is wood. Maple is maple, the difference is the american stats are put together with more care. Most amer. necks come with 22 frets and mexs. come with 21 frets. also the frets are shave down to the wood on amer. necks and sometimes the mexs. necks have metal burrs on the frets which feels like it can cut your palm while playing. The elctronics are soldered with much care and the use top american parts. the mexs use a little lower grade.
squier doesnt have very nice tone wood, takes a bit of setting up, is shit heavy compared to the strat, you dont get a nice whammy bar on a squier to name a few pointers
I think the squire is really just for learning.. its a beginners guitar.. you dont wanna buy a kickass expensive fender if you cant play shit.. so.. i think its just for learning.. then you are ready to move up to the real thing :)
excellent playing sir. I'm currently looking into either an american strat or a gibson firebird. I already have a highway one telecaster and a gibson sg gothic. i love the blues but need a guitar that can do everything, is the strat worth the money?
Thanks for you comment. As far as the strat being worth it I would say this. Guitars such as Gison Fender PRS and so on are great guitars. However I think their all over priced. You can buy entry level strats such as Squire for say $500. The Squire guitars are nice. With price you do and should get a nicer playing instrument. So depending on your budget, your style and level as a musician this guitar at $800.00 was a good choice for blues rock. Best of luck. Don't be quick to purchase!
It's the American true red white and blue. This is my daughters guitar. I haven't played the Mex so I don't know how they compare. This guitar plays well. The clip is what it is off of a basic digital camera.
i like the bit where he plays the guitar

What is the difference between American and Mexican Fender stratocaster?
OneBigHell 3 years ago
One is assembled in mexico the other one in america.
Americans are better and assembled with more quality material.

Yes, I know that. but did enyone hear the difference between those guitars? I mean is it ok to give about 600-700 bucks more for almost the same thing?
OneBigHell 3 years ago 2
You can hear the diffrence very clearly.
And if the money isnt a problem i would save up a few more bucks and get the american one.
I had the same doubts, but i went to the store and tried out both, and the guy in the store was right, the american one is a whole lot better.
You get what you pay for.

You may as well ask what's the difference between a base model Chevy and Cadillac?

The Amnerican standard stratocaster is beautiful version of Fender, made in nice woods, but they are not as the 1970 strat...
But if you are a skilled technician.. customized this strat.
I customised my fender american standard whith my hands, end you can listen the sound in my space (my videos).
The sound is Blackmore style or Hendrix Stile '70.
