Greetings Macgizmoguy. Purchased this webcam and got connected to Skype. Test call with HP speaker activated, which was successful. My iMac G5 is 10.4.11, manual says USB ports are 2.0. But I can't get Skype Video window to come up; realized Video button was not activated. In Skype preferences the HP webcam is enabled and a screen showing me sitting in front of the computer. So that part is working. But I can't the webcam recognized by the computer. Appreciate any input you can give.
@geebones EXACTLY hat version of Snow Leopard? Apple had a bug in 10.6.3 that temporarily 'killed' all external UVC webcams. And EXACTLY which Mac are you running this on? Sometimes people use external cams with MacBooks or iMacs with a built-in cam - and it can be VERY TRICKY as the two cams _compete_ with each other.
UVC is a *USB 2.0* webcam standard - and ALL driver-free webcams for Mac, Windows Vista - or Linux require a USB 2 speed ports. On now obsolete iMacs, eMacs, iBooks etc under 1ghz you're stuck with unusable USB 1.1 ports which are FOURTY times slower - and utterly unsuitable for video chat.
THIS CAMERA DOES NOT NOT NOT NOT WORK WITH MACS RUNNING 10.4.11. I wasted my money and time buying this and banging my head against the way trying to get it to work. Then I found other people online who had the same problem. This guy clearly doesn't fully test the products that he is pushing. He also conveniently does not have any contact info anywhere for someone to ask him a question or give him feedback. I would not support him.
