It is interesting that many theists state their 'right' to believe what they wish but don't consider the rights of those you do not wish themselves (or innocents such as children) to be subjected out-dated belief systems not based on verifiable data or critical analysis. Spend a small time examining the Bible and you discover a 'creator' who is a genocidal, rascist misogynistic, homophobic bully with a severe personality disorder. What are my rights to defend people from that?
Have to disagree. If Jim Jones was done for fraud (which he clearly commited by staging fraudulant miracles) Jonestown might never have happened. The same applies to Koresh, Applewhite and Aum group who staged the sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo underground back in 95. The price for US tax exemption is that religious organisations provide all or the vast majority of its services for free or by voluntary donation. scientology does not fall into this category.
LOL the Occult of Scientology spends all lot of time saying they are a church. If you look on their web sight I see they are saying church as much as they can. Then when you go to their YouTube channel they reinforce that they are a church again. They, also,do not allow the ability to comment on their page.
A little "donation math". If you give $10/week every week for an entire year, you would donate $480/year to a Christian church. After a full 50 years of attendance, someone making $50,000/year would have donated $24,000 dollars. This is very little in comparison to the $400,000 + price tag put on "enlightenment" by CO$.
I don't have a problem with a religion expecting 10% of your income but this scientology cult will clean out your bank account, get you to sign over your inheritance then happily watch you commit suicide by jumping out your eighth story apartment window to your death clutching your last $171 and a suicide note saying the pressures of scientology were what made you jump.
In my opinion its actually more respectable to Scientology to refer to it as a scam rather than an actual religion. However, they're all bullshit so what does it matter.
All religions have some level of corruption, be it love of money, the idea that "our" religion is better or the ONLY way, and if you disagree you go to hell or you must die or disconnect from your loved ones. but if you take away all the man made egoic non-sense, you have "GOD" prayers, songs, ceremonies and rituals that are there to help you connect with "GOD". When you take the corruption away from Scientology, there is nothing, No "GOD", no songs or prayers,
there is much more to the church than just selling books, they have commited acts of jury tampering, murder, and many more horrible things. fraud is not the only thing they are guilty. also more to the point is that they try to say that they are just an alternative to psychiatry but try to claim religious status at the same time. also other religions don't make you pay to give confession or read religious scripture, scientology does. that is what makes them fraudulent.
He says it all depends on who is in power and that they could make religion illegal but what does a religious government do? When they were in power you had to believe in their god or they would kill you.
I agree with the fundamental statement of this video, but I think that the difference between organizations like scientology and the other major religions like Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism etc is that the latter provide their services for free. The people attending the religious service can choose to give or not to give donations. In the case of Scientology all their services are subject to exhorbitant fees with auditing sessions starting at $250.00 an hour.
If some "church" or "religion" tells me that I MUST pay them $100,000+++ to guide me, unfailing, "internal salvation" then that's fraud! If they tell me that I must not associate with nonbelievers like Scientology does, then it's mind control. Simply really, no matter which side of the pond one lives...
@Squipplekillzbitches Get rid of denim jeans from society. If you can achieve that first, you might have a chance at getting rid of religion.Hoping for something does not do shit.Try praying!!!!LOL
Happy New Year! Thank you for opening my eyes to the depth and reality of the right to free speech.
In the editorial section of our newspaper, someone once said that a certain Christian should never post to the paper again. I was quite impressed that several NON-Christians replied that the First Amendment gives that person the right to say whatever he desires..
They said kind of the same thing. If we take away a groups right to speak, we could next.
@pheleant, you're confusing with scientology with actual religion. theres a strong difference. imho, its giving scientology a free ride is close to giving pedophiliacs open field to argue towards lowering the age of consent. the church folks are just plain silly, but they're decent folks. absolutely nothing wrong with them, even if they themselves are wrong. scientology? now, where to begin.....
real religion doesn't sell salvation. Or there knowledge etc You can pic up a bible or torah or whatever for nearly nothing or even free. I got the Book of morman and a bible for free. I don't believe in any of those religions I am just makeing a point that scientology sells what there knowlege in extremly hefty installments just so you can learn wht it is about. And then if you want to leave you are harassed into silence or going back and they want you to separate from anyone who isnt a scilon
Sadly...I think we are headed that way. And unfortunately its always the religious extreme that are used as examples as to why "we" are also a danger. Ever read Mind Seige?
They can believe in marshmallow horses in party hats if they want... but they abuse their membes in the Sea Org and hold information of their member's in files, which they will bring out and expose if they speak out against Scientology.
Reserach the Sea Org abuses and then tell me this is a "church" looking out for it's members.
They have done many illegal things in the past and continue, so why are they still tax exempt?
Who should decide what circumstances warrant taking one's right to their own beliefs away? Its not a black and white issue. It does seem dependent on who has the power at the time, which given the right person/s in power could be used to repress all beliefs. Interesting topic to ponder.
Just check out the decades of attacks by Scientology against those who did exercise their right of free speech regarding the manipulation, excessive control, and oppression yielded by the scn'ists at the behest of it's criminal paranoid founder.
The Judicial system in France did the correct thing in convicting the Draconian cult of Scientology. France has stood up for the individual rights of it's citizens. Try and make your video speech in a Cult of Scientology organization. It will be censored by the cult which is a huge oppressor or the 1st amendment which was authored to protect the individual from oppression by the group.
May be the fact that you have to pay for every level makes it a business. It's not rocket science. Does anyone know of a religion that make you work or pay to learn more about that religion? Thanks Greg
4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.
So I would say that, according to that definition, the Church of Scientology is a religion. It's just not a pure one!
In James 1:27 he defines pure (undefiled) religion; so if there's a pure religion, then we also have to deduce there's an impure as well. It's manifested by two main traits: 1. It's selfish not selfless; and, 2. It's defiled by the world and not kept unspotted from it.
says religion only refers to skydaddy faiths that have the old testament among their scripture, teach deuteronomy 13 to their children, and are made up of people who believe what they do because it was the majority religion of the culture in which they were socialized, or sometimes even that of their parents, and who assume the people who do just that in different societies are going to hell for their blindness. nonskydaddy faiths are cults or philosophies.
Remarkably long-sighted interpretation of the first amendment here in this video, so good in fact that I won't even add on "for an adherent of a dogmatic faith." It was the recognition of moral relativism...and it was a spark of light in a sea of murderous darkness, as in deut 13, which if the homegrown radicalization laws are put into place and enforced, will have a lot of christians forced to either deny their faith in the bible or be disappeared to a "dentention facility" for secret trial.
The first amendment will no longer protect you if you are relabeled a "homegrown radicalized speech terrorist" after reading deuteronomy 13 outloud, especially in front of a gathering of people.
If I were a christian I'd be curious as to the religion of "those in control," the faith they practice in the secrecy of bohemian grove, not the one they tout for the cameras on the campaign trail.
Look up vids on Bohemian grove if you think I'm conspiracy theorising. Hard to believe, yet true.
A "homegrown radicalized speech terrorist" is going to be defined by who? By people who think like you? By the NWO? I see that coming as well; but, Christ will deliver His church out of it! In fact, for those reading my Facebook postings on that, it's appointed to wake us up from sleeping!
P.S., Unless you are atheist, or someone who is a part of it, you won't be immune either! So, with all that said, I have one thing more thing to say about it. O God, MAKE IT SO! Amen.
It has long been impossible to physically resist them. Now they are putting the final pieces into place where it is impossible to legally resist them. The North American Court on trade and investment will trump the supreme court's power and therefore our individual liberties.
Right, I won't be a immune. I'm not a conformist and therefore very dangerous to them. Most christians are conformists, but not all of them became christian that way.
See, that's where I disagree with you. No true Christians are conformists! The wise virgins that Christ is speaking about are not conformists; we are protestants, we protest what isn't right no matter what the cost, because that's what we are called to do in the Word of God itself.
Those who are Lukewarm Laodicean Christians, Revelation 3:14-22 speaks of them, they are the ones who are acting as the conformists! See? Many are called; but few are chosen! Not everything labeled as Christian is!
The plan for martial law includes using the pastors of the churches to calm people down and make sure they cooperate with their government while we are essentially taken over and transformed from within into a totalitarian regime. That's what happens when they take one portion of the Word of God out of context, and fail to take into account the rest of it (and the witness of the history of the true Christians from the start of the church in Acts), they interpret it entirely wrong!
The Roman empire was the government of the days of the early church, in the book of Acts, but the true Christians didn't do the will of Rome! They didn't worship the leaders of Rome; they protested it, they resisted it, even unto death! Amen.
Look for me on Facebook, user name teddyhcraig, I posted on that video there just a few moments ago. I'm not for giving in to a government that's trying to destroy the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Not now, not ever. I am a patriot and a Christian, I'm not a lap dog or a doormat, and I won't let them cause me to do what's in clear opposition to the Word of God! Amen.

giving churches tax free status violates the first amendment.
You are legislating seperate rules for Religious groups, that means giving them special status. Treat Religions just like everyone else and tax them.
Taxing churches? I fail to see the problem, they're ALL frauds.
