I have read several posts from various sites about the forearm grip while levering in a new round and was wondering, considering the price of this gun, whether it would be worth it or not to checker the forepiece
To make a SBR all you need is a form from the ATF website and a $200 check. After you wait about 6 months you can then modify your rifle. It's not 'alot' of paper work, its just a long process. So, in a way this rifle is a deal. But buying/making a SBR is not a big deal. Take care Bill!
Hey Mr45. Brought back good old memories. I love that gun. Every week I HAD to watch Wanted Dead or Alive, Have Gun Will Travel, Wyatt Earp, Tombstone Territory, Death Valley Days, Cheyenne, Maverick, Sugarfoot, Gunsmoke. People that didn't grow up during those times just missed the boat. Your vid got to to remembering those great days as a small child and pre-teenager, Thanks for posting.
@deputysheriff100 You are my kind of people. I wish they still had those shows on. I remember buying this gun as a little kid. My Mom got it for me. You know I had to have this when it came out. This was a time when the good guys always won. Thanks so much for the comment and remembering all those great shows. Another one I watched was Yancy Derriner with Jock Mahoney. Thank you for your service!
@mr45bullitt how reliable are they? i want one really bad in 44 mag but people have been telling me they are cheap junk i dont want to believe them but i certainly dont want to buy junk
Looks pretty good. How is the action on it? And how is the accuracy? I read somewhere, earlier, that they aren't very accurate. I don't think that comment was directed specifically toward the Rossi, but rather the Mare's Leg pistols in general.
@RoninEnsse The action is pretty smooth to me. I haven't tested it for accuracy yet. I can hit what I aim at but from the hip I need lots of practice.. I had tohave one though as I grew up watching the old westerns. Thanks.
@Mr45Bullitt Hmm...well, as one person mentioned to me, it is pretty accurate, as I imagine it should be, considering the length of the barrel. For a "pistol", it's definitely pretty long. And actually, I've never seen any old westerns. I never grew up with that kind of stuff, partially because I was only born in '89, but I still love the old western cowboy style. I've recently gained an obsession with lever-action rifles.
@Mr45Bullitt Yeah, I've seen it. I actually do like the look of Henry's more than Rossi's, because of the brass receiver and the loop shape, and I have also heard that they are very well made. My only complaint about it, though, is that the .45 Colt version only holds 5 rounds (I don't want the .22 version). I also think I'd prefer the .44 Magnum, if the recoil is manageable. Everywhere I've looked, factory loaded .44 Magnum tends to be cheaper than .45 Colt, and it's more powerful.
@RoninEnsse I have my ranch hand in .45 COLT and I take mine deer hunting. their accuracy is great. its the shooter if they say it isnt, or the ammo they use. I use Barnes VOR-TX and I knocked my buck down flat at 50-60 yards. I think it is practacal. Its a great gun!
@jkbaddley Oh, I know the .45 Colt is no slouch. I know it's got plenty of power, with even more potential, if you reload your own ammunition. I don't plan on reloading any time soon, though, so .44 Magnum would be a better option for me. I'm also no hunter. I've never been hunting before.
@Mr45Bullitt Its a sawed off rifle i wouldnt call it a pistol steve tried to take it on an airline he said im josh randall this is my mares leg i have to practise one time roy rodgers and dale evans were robbed in the desert they stole their clothes dale said whats that roy said thats my gun roy said whats that dale said thats my holster...
I don't think Steve would be that proud. I have one, and I would have preferred to have the one Steve had: 9" barrel, shorter grip and curved, and no sights. come to think of it , it's not really like Steve's.
I'm 14 right now and I own every episode of Wanted Dead or Alive, I love the gun, I love the series. I'm trying to convince y parents to buy one... much harder than it sounds.
Well even if I can't get one for several years... I'm still damn well happy they made the gun in the first place
@zillamaster2000 That is awesome to see a young man own these. I just bought all the episodes from Amazon for $17.00.I really am happy that they made it to. Thank you very much!!1
@Mr45Bullitt I have about 5 guns on the list im just broke right now, by the end of this year ill have the money for 1 of them i just gotta decide what 1 im gonna get :( I hate deciding.
Hey bill i just bought a iver johnson hawk 1911 havent shot it yet but looks really good have u herd anything bout them i tried lookin for some review but havent found any?
this is a real mans gun. the youth should give up their high tech semi auto fetish with pretending to be GI Joes and Call of Duty soldiers and go these and wheel guns
@Mr45Bullitt woow i didnt notice cause the sheath looks a little nicer and cooler than most factory ones maybe an older one? but woooow im a huge fan of their product nice little company with quality hunting knives :)
It's not classified as a rifle, but a pistol. You can't have a rifle with less than 16" barrel. Otherwise it's an SBR and requires special federal tax stamp.
Yesterday I was shooting my glock 30 with 200 grain lawman +p. The take down tab fell out due to the spring breaking. As a result I started shopping and found my first 1911, springfield loaded a1 black and stainless. Since I just bought a gun in nj this month, g26, I have to wait until march. Then I will put some videos up, this gun is beautiful and can't wait to show it off and shout it. I still have to fix my g30... Take er easy...
@ElGrandeDawg Yes! It is really a handgun. You can't do this to a rifle without a lot of paperwork.I just put up a vid with my Daughter shooting it. Thank you!!!
@Mr45Bullitt I don't remember that one, I remember The Texan with Rory Calhoun, Cheyenne with Clint Walker, Have Gun will travel with Richard Boone, Roy Rogers, The Virginia, The Rebel.
I remember Gunblast doing a video about this gun a month or so ago and I've been in love with it since. I also love that when I looked at Rossi's website it's marketed as a pistol and not a rifle. Think they'd let me take my CCW class with this? LOL!!!
@eje1079 Yes I saw that video I love that guys videos. Yes it is sold as a pistol and that would be funny to go to your CCW calass with this under your coat!LOL! Thanks Buddy.
great vid Bill. Couple quick questions for you. I'm cleaning my guns tomorrow. I use ballistoll for all cleaning. Plus spray it for lube. On the guns I'm not going to shoot I bought some 3in1 oil (you should remember that stufflol) because walmart didn't have any lube can you believe that. Anyway could I use the 3in1 on my rifles and pistols. It says it lubes protects from rust &cleans. By the way I am getting me one of those rifles. Bet it kicks like a mule
@jeffxl12 Using 3in1 oil shouldn't be a problem but remember Ballistol is also a lubricant. One thing you don't want to use is penetrating oil and load your gun as it creeps into the primers and makes the rounds useless over time. I would get some regular gun lube though as it is made specifically for firearms. Thanks.
@Mr45Bullitt thanks Bill. I knew about the primers. I don't keep them loaded in the gun safe except my revolvers. I'll just use the ballistoll. That stuff works great. I just wanted to run it by you and see what you thought.
@fefgam Rossi has been bought out by Taurus. They still sell under the Rossi name and sell lots of different types of guns. They used to be big on .38special snubby revolvers. Thanks.
Wow I didn't know anyone else watched that show. I just recently bought the whole series on DVD for my dad because he used to talk about it all the time. We watched through the whole series, it was a lot of fun.
Wow nice purchase, I like ar-15's,but I sure do get sick of hearing about them on youtube. The lever action rifle is probably my favorite rifle, thats why I deer hunt with an old 1894 winchester.I think every gun owner should atleast experience a lever action and revolver=)
@deerhunter1495 Yes people get to wrapped up in the modern day rifles sometimes. There are lots of guns out there that are just plain fun to shoot. Thanks!
That show is a few years beyond me, but I respect your sentiment for hanging on to that dream for so long. Congrats on the purchase, that is a classic! There is a different generation who would have thought this video was about Bon Jovi, LOL!
@tnoutdoors9 Thank you. This would make a great long distance shooting vid.LOL! I was surprised how many people I talk to don't know Steve McQueen. I'm old!
thats an awsome gun. Gunwebsites did a video on one form JB custom bout a year ago and wasn't that the gun used in Zombieland? looks alot like I might just have to get me one
@machinegun911 Yes I watched their video the other day. If you have a gun they probably did a video on it. Great channel. Thanks I think you will like it.
@Mr45Bullitt I've been subbed to em for 2 years but my I forgot to log out and my cousin pissed off one of there subs and they blocked me so I sent em a message and I'm hoping they'll unblock me Love there channel though its awsome
I used to watch the original "Wanted Dead or Alive" programs.......oh damn, I just dated myself......LOL. I always loved that show among others (Branded, The Rifleman....yada yada yada). Can't wait to see you and the milk jugs tangle......LOL. Take Care :-))
The coolness factor is through the roof, but you're right, as a practical or even semi-accurate or comfortable gun to shoot, it's the pitts. At around 4 bills I can see it making it into the safe, but the .45LC is so expensive now days that's another reason why I didn't buy one. Still, it's the coolest looking gun on the market right now IMHO.
I have read several posts from various sites about the forearm grip while levering in a new round and was wondering, considering the price of this gun, whether it would be worth it or not to checker the forepiece

Wow nice purchase, I like ar-15's,but I sure do get sick of hearing about them on youtube. The lever action rifle is probably my favorite rifle, thats why I deer hunt with an old 1894 winchester.I think every gun owner should atleast experience a lever action and revolver=)
deerhunter1495 1 year ago
@deerhunter1495 Yes people get to wrapped up in the modern day rifles sometimes. There are lots of guns out there that are just plain fun to shoot. Thanks!

Fookwah 1 year ago
@Fookwah Thanks very much. I agree. I'm not going to shoot it much for sure but when I do it should be fun!
