I'm trying really hard to get into this, but comparing this version fo many others, the singers almost sound bord while singing this. They don't seem to have any emotions when they sing. They seem to only carry a tune, nothing special, really.

I'm confused :( The tone of this song is rejoicing and plaintive (it mentions the word 'mourn' but it's not a mournful song, more of a plea). I assume you meant the mood of the music, in which case I'm at a loss for words because to me, the music does not "ignore" any mournfulness or rejoicing (esp. the harmonies at 1:20+! Swoon!). Could you explain what you meant? I do agree that the song's been done better.

I usually like Belle and Sebastian, but this is a really odd interpretation. The tone ignores the mournfulness/rejoicing faith of the original. The modern versions by Sufjan Stevens and Enya retain that, while still providing an interesting twist.
