  • Intel needs to make a 655K replacement on Sandy Bridge. A dual core, unlocked processor would be better then an i3 yet cheaper then a 2500k

  • Hey will Core i7-875K work on my Asus p8z68 Deluxe ? Please let me know :/

  • @Metalicalypse no it wont, im pretty sure 1156 and 1155 arent compatible

  • @Metalicalypse Go for an i7-2600K instead of the 875K and you're good to go :D

  • Comment removed

  • @Metalicalypse I'd go for the 2600K. The only difference is clock speed, but the 2700k is much more expensive :p

  • i7 2600k is fast enough the now anyway

  • WOW, my 4.8GHz seems pretty fast now.

  • Hi, can anyone tell me what would be better for gaming? i7 or i5. I want t0 be playing crysis 2 on high and mw2. Thanks

    (graphics card can run them)

  • @airssoft123 i7 obviously...

  • @airssoft123

i5 2500k is the best buy for gamers atm

  • @Rodhizzzle yes but you want a new mobo noob!

  • @airssoft123 Of course it depends on your other hardware, but the most reasonable cpu to buy mainly for gaming is the i5 2500 (or 2500k if you intend to overclock)

  • hello, i'm budgeting out a computer for a friend and want to know if there is an LGA 1155 version of this motherboard (ASUS P7P55D) to be paired with the i5 2500k so I can still do the simple OC'ing.

  • i got a 6-650 planning to get the 875K. should i??

  • @rockkilla483 What do you do with the CPU? game? I would say for an upgrade grab a 2500k. Better than both.

  • @HostileDonut i game but i would rather not buy a whole new mobo.

  • @rockkilla483 Well, if your getting good FPS, there is really no reason to upgrade to a core i7 that is getting phazed out anyway. I would say stick with the core i5 you have and wait until you need to upgrade.

  • @HostileDonut well really i was looking for more fps but still an i7 then some

  • @rockkilla483 Yeah, but most games only use 2 threads anyway, so you might not even notice.

  • @HostileDonut i also render video's and record 720p & 1080i

  • @rockkilla483 Then an i would be helpful. ;) I suggest a 2600k though.

  • @rockkilla483 I meant to say an i7 would be helpful.

  • @HostileDonut and to another comment you posted this is all i can afford not gonna buy anothermotherboard just for another core i would but i would have to pay on it for some time the only thing im thinking of is the future sockets

  • @rockkilla483 Yeah, but with the price of a core i7, save an extra $100 and grab an i5 2500k and a nice motherboard. But yeah, I see your problem. an i7 875k would be very nice.

  • Note the bus speed of 133.7 :D

  • I want a Intel CPU but I don't know if I should go all out and get a i7 2600K or the i5 2500K if I get the i5 will I be sacrificing alot? and do I really need Hyperthreading all I want to do is game.

  • @BassPounderX The 2500k is perfect for gaming. It runs everything picture perfect, no framerate flaws with my 6870. I think the i7 is more for extremists or hardcore benchmarking enthusiasts.

  • @ApocalypticWeasel thats i just wanted to knwo because i ahve been with AMD since intels pentium 3 LOL and it never lagged on me considering mine was 800mhz and with my new amd x2 5000+ i notice alot of lagging and hangs that i never experienced before so ima go back to intel even tho it costs more

  • @BassPounderX Enjoy ;)

  • @ApocalypticWeasel =D i will

  • this guy talks like he's on crack!

  • Old technology; Move along, boys. Nothing to see here.

  • what ?

  • @SHERIDANPUAv fuck off

  • I find him so annoying :(

  • Hi! I have an Asus P6TX58D-Premium and an I7-930. I want to buy 12 gigs of ram. What is the best solution for me? 6x2 gigs, or 3x4 gigs? 1600Mhz or 1333Mhz? I use it for video editing. Thanks for your answer.

  • @szamosfilm I would go with 3x4 gigs at 1600 Mhz... if you're gonna go with 6x2gigs at least get something crazy awesome like Corsair Dominator GTX6

  • honestgadgetreviews

  • outstanding review :)

  • i can only find the P7P55D-E and P7P55D-E LX on NCIX, can anyone link me to to the P7P55D-E Premium?

  • so if i get the i5 and this mobo and overclock, think i can just match his setting on screen and achieve a solid over clock (+7 on core one, +6 on core two?) and changing the voltage to 1.325 (over clocking noob here, first build ever)

  • so if i get the i5 and this mobo and overclock, think i can just match his setting on screen and achieve a solid over clock (+7 on core one, +6 on core two?)

  • which is better for gaming intel core i7 950 or amd phenom ii x6 1090t black edition please tell me

  • @tahagood1 i7 is better for gaming

  • Please tell me what college you go to. I would love to learn stuff like this.

  • im afraid my new I7 will retire early when i go over 1.25 vcore.

even with watercooler, you still cant go over 1.25 without any risk.

it will probably retire to soon .

  • Anyone know if the i7 2600K Sandy Bridge is gonna work like this too?

    On an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe?

  • @kidwithAnose yeah! People have had the sandy bridge at over 5GHZ running stable and at safe temps.

  • Anyone know what he's using to torture test the CPU?

  • @deadstockk prime 95

  • @7Rexdog7 Thanks!

  • @deadstockk paint

  • For cores what would use cores? like what exactly do they do?

  • @kbman99 a core is pritty much a whole other CPU think of it as 4 CPUs in the same box

  • Hello i have the core i7-875k along with a liquid cooling system. How far could i push this processor? Could i make it 6ghz lolz?

  • @alekst1923 If you cant work it out then you shouldnt start overclocking

  • @alekst1923 For 6GHz you need liquid nitrogen

  • What is the difference between having the CPU change speeds and always running the CPU at max overclock speed?

  • @mindingosafado You have lower power consumption and heat when the high overclock is not required. It will a) increase the hardware lifespan, b) generate less heat and c) use less power which in-turn helps the environment and also reduces your power bill a bit :P

  • @ephemeross I see, I've never done any computer building. But this variable CPU overclock sounds useful!

  • looking 4 SOFTWARE ENGINEERS, hit me up

  • @e35554r what do you need

  • @NewGameReleases IF U KNOW HOW 2 WRITE SOFTWARE,n also ur state or city u live in

  • @e35554r what's the PROJECT you need

  • @NewGameReleases its a WEBSITE im tryna design, might need some graphics up there, at some point. but once again what city or state r u from

  • @e35554r that's what I thought. You seem like an inexperienced internet marketer. What's the website for

  • @NewGameReleases go fuk urself, n fuk wat u thought if u weas'nt interested u should'nt have replied the message. At least the smart who know about software engineering have replied go fuk urself n dont send shit bak LOWLIFE BUM

  • @e35554r :) I don't remember saying I wouldn't help you. Looks like you don't need it anyways. Good luck on your new website(s), I wish you the best of luck.

  • Is the same turbo feature avaible on a gigabyte motherboard ?

  • 0:49 SGD$400+ = mainstream price range? lol

  • @xxxxxls2 +1

  • essentially mac and pc have the exact same parts in them, and u can torrent a live working universal version of Mac OSX if u know where to look, so if u want to overclock a mac, just build a computer urself, and install mac on it, then if u want to run windows as well, just partition the drive to run both operating systems

  • He's a pufta

  • how can i do this on my imac i7 @ 2.93ghz (i7 875k)????? please help i would be very glad if u could explain it to me..... i subscribed in advance (i dont care if u can help me or not since the rest of ur videos have helped me a lot)

  • @GiannicTheGod u can't.. cuz imac's bios is locked etc..

  • @GiannicTheGod Macs don't have the proper cooling for overclocking. Get a pc. ;)

  • @LinusTechTips is this feature on the asus maximus iii formula???

  • why can't you do the same exact thing on the i7 870? can't you still use the turbo unlocker on it since the i7 870 has turbo boost also?

  • like fuel injection for a cpu!

  • @crozy999 haha

  • A shame that most boards won't work by letting you keep the voltage on the cpu core dynamic while overclocking, for extra power savings. In the video the voltage on the cpu had to be kept at a constant high setting.

  • Comment removed

  • The Turbo Boost on my i7 875K on Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5 doesn't work properly. It goes maximum to 3,3 Ghz but it rises the all 4 cores. It can't rise single core. Besides when I rise BCLK (Turbo is still switched on) the miltiplier is constant and it's not going down or up.

  • @Expliciate in this patricular socket it is of no use,at least for me.And q9xxx needs less money for the other equivalent components, and for the cpu.Core 2 quad is still kikass.

  • @nitroman78 Thank you very much. I'm waiting for it. Shipped! :)

  • this nice 1 core upscalling to with a "normal" i7 870 ????

  • Could you do this with the Asus P7P55D-E Pro?

    Thank you

  • @walos81 Yes you could.

  • @walos81 if u now something about it pleas tell me

  • @walos81 Of course. You must have the latest Bios (the 1002) !

  • I don't think I've ever seen linus happier than he is in this video :P

  • Did this guy double drop before recording this video?

  • Is this something I will be able to do with all P55 boards or just higher end ones?

  • question is this the best mobo for the Core i7-875K what about asus P7F7-E WS Supercomputer. im planing to build me a computer should i use what u used in this video. can someone please tell me wats a good build witch uses the Core i7-875K.

    thanks in advance

  • Monster Machine!

  • These processors are for noobs only!My core 2 quad q9400 works stable on 3.8 ghz and no problem! It is greeat! Why buy these?

  • @vstxp Because they have hyper-threading, more cache, and generally perform better than the old C2Qs.

  • @HHBones Core 2 Quad Q9xxx has 12mb cache, and hyper threadin is no use for the 1156 socket. You are not gonna see much difference from a quad core i5 witch is the same or leser than the C2Q9,and the "old" Core 2 quad Q9xxx is still kicking ass(even combined with ddr2 ram). And you're gonna need triple the money of my computer to buy this computer. It is ridiculus!

  • @vstxp A Core 2 Quad 3.8 Ghz is not the same as a Core i7 3.8 Ghz.

  • y wanna buy a new mobo as well new rams and cpu

    what do you suggest

    evga x58 ftw3 + i7 930 +corsair dominator 6gb OR

    evga p55 ftw 200 + i7 875k + 4gb corsair dom ?

    please respond

  • @TheMRamstaff Of course the i7 930 if you know what to do

  • DOUBLE CORE POSSESSOR!! OMG WHAT DOES IT MEAN

  • @Bwethhh Two proccesors

  • These chips are really for the advanced user i guess.

I don't care much for power consumption and I've got adequate cooling so I got my i7-860 running at about 3.36+ all the time.

OH! lol if you're running an old game that only uses 1 core, the MOST you'll ever need for it is 2.5~ ghz. any speed above 3ghz will be unnoticeable!

This is a cool feature, but I don't think its worth the extra 100 bones.

  • MOD crazy!!!! love the new K series cpu's!!!!

  • what cooler is that ?

  • are you capble of pushing it too 4 ghz ??

  • @GaminGBlinK definatly from my standard overclock 5945

    205 baseclock 29x multiplier

  • can i overclock the i3 530 in the same way

  • i think they are keeping at around 300 bucks to compete with the 1090t but i would still go with this even if 1090t was 200 bucks

  • Does Maximus III Extreme have the same feature? to customize the turbo ratios?

  • @i5Alex but the 5850 is better

  • Hi! i order the i5 655K and the ASUS P7P55D DELUXE but will this function that you have in the Premium still work?

    //Thanks

  • $350 seems expensive. i5- 750 ftw...

  • I'm looking foreward to buy an i7-860. What a lame CPU now. The i7-875K is really nice but too expensive for me :/

  • For anyone interested: the Maximus III Formula allows to customize Turbo ratios too (at least with BIOS v1801).

  • @i5Alex Pretty sure if you're able to play Crysis with it, you'll be able to play GTA4.

  • @i5Alex What about a Radeon HD 5770 for GTA4?

  • 330$ at newegg.com

  • @rucka704 i just looked it up its cheaper now

  • @rucka704 I got it for $209 on newegg

  • @EMCHost WTF WHEN lucky =)

  • @GrimTheToad Uhh, about 2 weeks ago?

    Go to Newegg

and look up Intel Core i5 655k

I'll be getting the Intel Core i7 soon

  • @EMCHost OH LOL ithought u ment 875k....i fail

  • BUT WAINT... There is more

  • good show . don't think the AMD!

  • Is he gay? Earring in each ear.

  • did you do a vid for using the turbo mode with the core i7 920?

  • any difference between I7-940 and these??? Which is better??? plz tell

  • does this work with a inte core i3?

  • 1 word : awesom-o !

  • got this chip for $200 at microcenter when they're on sale last week, i have the asus p7p55d-e same line of board in this video w/o the premium, just wanting to let those people know the board i have does support the turbo mode customization features, latest bios update from asus is 5/27/10

  • Is there a major difference between socket 1156 and 1366?

  • @john0022 There's 210 more pins in the 1366 so it has a higher frequency of command and processing transfer. 1366 supports triple channel memory and has a QPI instead of a FSB.

  • whats the best mobo for this i7-875K i wood like 2 start new computer for video editing . looking at a coolmaster case . then i like 2 fine good memory more the better right wont over clock mem. video editing ill be most doing can u help

  • these chips make me horny

  • Linus which one do u prefeer? an i7 930 on a Asus P6X58D Premium Socket motherboard or an i7 875K on a GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD6? Which one would u choose for Gaming etc, and that will atleast last for 2-4 years ;p ?

  • i was planning to buy an i7 860 with a 'Scythe Mugen 2' as CPU cooler ...

is it the 100€ worth to buy the i7 875k when i want only a little overclock on my CPU (i'm not planning to overclock my memory ...)

is it better to increase your multiplier instead ur BSCLK ?

i'm buying the 'GA-P55M-UD4' mobo for this system ...

please give me some advice !

    Thanks !

  • Does all ASUS P7P55D series motherboards have this turbo mode feature?

  • Want to win your own 875k processor? Check out @skikarl here on YouTube for your chance to win!

  • mmm sexy test rack is sexy

  • Just got my 875k...=D

  • the 3 people disliked this vid is because they did a fault and blew up their system

  • Better then the i 7 930 ?

  • @aimmordi1 yes

  • Why is there a £100 ($150) difference between this and the i7 870. I think intel over-emphasised the pricing of the i7 870.

  • hey Linus, will this turbomode customization be available to enthusiast users like myself with the 6core 980x?

  • Well in this time not so much games can use upm to 4 threads of the CPU itself. So I think going with a i5 Dual Core or an i5 750, X4 965 is pretty good right now. Otherwise you can choose the i7 both from 1156 or 1366 which is better for about a few years later.

And, if you have enough money, you can go with the 1090T or 980X

  • I wonder how old Sebastian is???

  • hey linus absolutely fantastic video- Do you think this is a deal breaker for a gaming system because of its potential for non threaded games ( in relation to 1055T)?

  • what kind of "case" does he have?

    kinda cool...

  • Hey Linus;

What is the vcore you had set for this demo?

Also do you know if the the older P55P7D boards (the first boards, NOT "E") have the new turbo boost options? I see asus has updated the bios but only seem to mention bug fixes and added cpu support (including support for the 875K :D)

I think i might have to get myself this chip; see what it will do with some liquid cooling :)

  • Linus has the best videos on youtube, keep them coming. :)

  • i dont like your high pitched voice or the way you pronounce asus and processor

  • were do u get a test bench?

  • is ASUS going to release a BIOS update that allow existing motherboard to do this?

  • @selyss12345 I know they have released BIOS that support these CPUs

  • For when the i7-925K or 945K on socket 1366? :P

Nice that Intel thinks about us broke overclockers :P We can't all afford Extreme editions!

  • OMGOSH!! CPU OF MY DRREAMS! <3
