@airssoft123 Of course it depends on your other hardware, but the most reasonable cpu to buy mainly for gaming is the i5 2500 (or 2500k if you intend to overclock)
hello, i'm budgeting out a computer for a friend and want to know if there is an LGA 1155 version of this motherboard (ASUS P7P55D) to be paired with the i5 2500k so I can still do the simple OC'ing.
@rockkilla483 Well, if your getting good FPS, there is really no reason to upgrade to a core i7 that is getting phazed out anyway. I would say stick with the core i5 you have and wait until you need to upgrade.
@HostileDonut and to another comment you posted this is all i can afford not gonna buy anothermotherboard just for another core i would but i would have to pay on it for some time the only thing im thinking of is the future sockets
@rockkilla483 Yeah, but with the price of a core i7, save an extra $100 and grab an i5 2500k and a nice motherboard. But yeah, I see your problem. an i7 875k would be very nice.
I want a Intel CPU but I don't know if I should go all out and get a i7 2600K or the i5 2500K if I get the i5 will I be sacrificing alot? and do I really need Hyperthreading all I want to do is game.
@BassPounderX The 2500k is perfect for gaming. It runs everything picture perfect, no framerate flaws with my 6870. I think the i7 is more for extremists or hardcore benchmarking enthusiasts.
@ApocalypticWeasel thats i just wanted to knwo because i ahve been with AMD since intels pentium 3 LOL and it never lagged on me considering mine was 800mhz and with my new amd x2 5000+ i notice alot of lagging and hangs that i never experienced before so ima go back to intel even tho it costs more

so if i get the i5 and this mobo and overclock, think i can just match his setting on screen and achieve a solid over clock (+7 on core one, +6 on core two?) and changing the voltage to 1.325 (over clocking noob here, first build ever)

@mindingosafado You have lower power consumption and heat when the high overclock is not required. It will a) increase the hardware lifespan, b) generate less heat and c) use less power which in-turn helps the environment and also reduces your power bill a bit :P

A shame that most boards won't work by letting you keep the voltage on the cpu core dynamic while overclocking, for extra power savings. In the video the voltage on the cpu had to be kept at a constant high setting.
The Turbo Boost on my i7 875K on Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5 doesn't work properly. It goes maximum to 3,3 Ghz but it rises the all 4 cores. It can't rise single core. Besides when I rise BCLK (Turbo is still switched on) the miltiplier is constant and it's not going down or up.
@Expliciate in this patricular socket it is of no use,at least for me.And q9xxx needs less money for the other equivalent components, and for the cpu.Core 2 quad is still kikass.
question is this the best mobo for the Core i7-875K what about asus P7F7-E WS Supercomputer. im planing to build me a computer should i use what u used in this video. can someone please tell me wats a good build witch uses the Core i7-875K.
@HHBones Core 2 Quad Q9xxx has 12mb cache, and hyper threadin is no use for the 1156 socket. You are not gonna see much difference from a quad core i5 witch is the same or leser than the C2Q9,and the "old" Core 2 quad Q9xxx is still kicking ass(even combined with ddr2 ram). And you're gonna need triple the money of my computer to buy this computer. It is ridiculus!

@john0022 There's 210 more pins in the 1366 so it has a higher frequency of command and processing transfer. 1366 supports triple channel memory and has a QPI instead of a FSB.

Well in this time not so much games can use upm to 4 threads of the CPU itself. So I think going with a i5 Dual Core or an i5 750, X4 965 is pretty good right now. Otherwise you can choose the i7 both from 1156 or 1366 which is better for about a few years later.
And, if you have enough money, you can go with the 1090T or 980X
hey linus absolutely fantastic video- Do you think this is a deal breaker for a gaming system because of its potential for non threaded games ( in relation to 1055T)?
Also do you know if the the older P55P7D boards (the first boards, NOT "E") have the new turbo boost options? I see asus has updated the bios but only seem to mention bug fixes and added cpu support (including support for the 875K :D)
I think i might have to get myself this chip; see what it will do with some liquid cooling :)
Intel needs to make a 655K replacement on Sandy Bridge. A dual core, unlocked processor would be better then an i3 yet cheaper then a 2500k

Why is there a £100 ($150) difference between this and the i7 870. I think intel over-emphasised the pricing of the i7 870.

hey Linus, will this turbomode customization be available to enthusiast users like myself with the 6core 980x?
Mezmerizer03 1 year ago
Well in this time not so much games can use upm to 4 threads of the CPU itself. So I think going with a i5 Dual Core or an i5 750, X4 965 is pretty good right now. Otherwise you can choose the i7 both from 1156 or 1366 which is better for about a few years later.
And, if you have enough money, you can go with the 1090T or 980X

hey linus absolutely fantastic video- Do you think this is a deal breaker for a gaming system because of its potential for non threaded games ( in relation to 1055T)?

Hey Linus;
What is the vcore you had set for this demo?
Also do you know if the the older P55P7D boards (the first boards, NOT "E") have the new turbo boost options? I see asus has updated the bios but only seem to mention bug fixes and added cpu support (including support for the 875K :D)
I think i might have to get myself this chip; see what it will do with some liquid cooling :)

The new chips sound great for overclocking!!! Intel is finally selling unlocked mainstream processors again... Nice video tips Linus.
