I get so mad when I see Bassets like this. She is way to fat which is very unhealthy for them. Their legs and back cannot handle that amount of weight even though their bone density is good. I have Bassets of my own and not one is over weight. Its easy if you take them for walks and control their diet. If you dont, you are just lazy and dont care for the dog, cause she will die eventually because of her weight.....
@X10JSZ It would be wise for you to ask questions and get the full story before you lash out at people you don't know over something you know nothing about. I inherited this dog and she was actually BIGGER when I got her. She has lost 20 lbs since I have adopted her. How dare you call me lazy and tell me I don't care for my dog. What right do you have to go online with your holier than thou art attitude and lash out at a total stranger?
@Sarahound I know Sara is morbidly obese. And she is still struggling with her weight. I will be the first one to admit this. But to leave nasty messages like this is absolutely inexcusable.
I am deeply concerned when I see overweight dogs as well. But, before I lash out on everyone and give them a 'your dog is going to die because you are a lazy owner' speech, I make an attempt to feel out the situation and see what's going on. Maybe you should do the same.
The poor little butterball part made me lol. She's super cute. :) You guys have done a great job taking care of her.
