  • I'm looking into buying the .45 I like the longer barrel

  • are those handloads?

  • which do you prefer...i have the M&P 45 and have been thinking i should have got the 9mm

  • @FNFALcharlie What makes you feel that way?

  • recoil looks the same to me but its not

  • @MrJoshuavickers I thought it was actually easier to see that the .45 rose a bit more than the 9mm... switch back and forth a couple of times and you should be able to see it.

  • It looks like you just reloaded I cant tell the difference LOL

  • I know you can order the M&P .45 with thumb safety or "key" safety, but can you order it with the trigger safety and magazine release safety also installed?

  • @betatalk357 the 45 does come with mag safety and thumb safety as options.

  • SW MP 9 mm, I have no complaints, never jammed on me with either fmj, or hollow point

  • I have the mp 40 and i cant release the slide with my thumb....waaay to hard. Any suggestions folks?

  • @clueworm82

    shoot more, work it more,

You may lack some finger dexterity along with finger strength.

I have a friend who is considerably stronger than me, but when we went shooting he couldn't decock my sig without using two hands. I can do it with my thumb... It took practice.

Maybe you could polish the innards so they are not so abrasive, but I would just dry practice till you can do it with both hands or hey maybe both.

  • @jrygrim Thanks! yea I have a (cough) taurus and I can work the slide release very easily. I have about a thousand rounds through the mp and its still tough. Funny you mention polishing I was just looking at where the slide catches the release and feels like it could use some smoothing for sure. Ill knock that out and see how she goes. Thanks again!

  • @clueworm82 lol, no problem

good luck man, let us know how she turns out

  • @jrygrim Yup, took a fine file to the edges and she releases with ease. Very simple task and works perfect now!

  • @clueworm82

    did u tape it?

  • @clueworm82 -just do power stroke then

  • what if the bullet bounces of the steel and comes back to you?? has that ever happened to anyone?

  • @drCasey555 99.9% of all steel shooting plates are slightly tilted down so that will not happen.

  • @reversesouthpaw oh thats good

  • @drCasey555 splashback or ricochets do happen, but the entire bullet does not come back at you (at least never in my experience). It is recommended that if you shoot steel you should be at least ~30 feet back.

Of course I've been about 50feet and have had lil pieces still hit me in the face. No damage mind you, but it is a little concerning.

The best remedy for this is to shoot frangible rounds, JHPs, and as reversesouthpaw stated the angle at which the steel is placed

  • .45 one shoots nice my buddy has one.

  • nope no seperate saftey i picked up the m&p 40 couldent find one with the thumb saftey anywhere so i bought it without and figured id call smith and get one but they dont do it and theres no cut out for it its a different frame

  • very nice comp!!!

  • Those are both on my list

  • Which is which?

  • @thaokong01 The m&p9 is the first one while the m&p45 is the second one.

  • So, MP45 doesn't have that much more recoil than the 9mm huh?

  • beautiful gun

  • I just wish the MP Slide was as narrow as the XDM. Then I could seriously see NO improvement needed.

  • mine has thumb safety and i dont like but that is the olnly version that comes to Guatemala did you know if it can be remove?

  • Looks about the same to me. No big difference. Thats why i prefer 45. A heavier bullet.

  • i remember getting my finger stuck when doing what you did at 0:30

  • @KrypToNiTeH4X youre doing it wrong

  • ive never shota 9mm but it looks sharper than a 45.

  • @famasdan it is the kick is over faster lol if you know what i mean

  • I have the thumb safety model with the full length barrel.

They only thing I want know is the threaded barrel.

    Anybody know a source?

    Take care.

  • yup, MP the best for me got a 40cal going right back and getting the 45, wish they still made the 357 sig i would grab that one as well. i LOVE the MP line - GREAT JOB SMITH AND WESSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @priestof1 All you need is the .357 barrel, the .40 mags are good for both.

  • What has a lighter trigger pull to you? M&P pro or Glock with a ghost connector?

  • My only complaint with the M&P 45 is that it only hold 10 rounds. Kinda on the light side for ammo capacity. Hell I would just get a 1911 and get Chip McCormik mags for it instead of getting an M&P 45. I'm good with my FNP-45 with 14+1 and feels like a 9mm when shooting it.

  • @saved03 the M&Ps felt recoil impulse is LESS than the felt recoil of the FNP-45.

  • @tactical2bagpipes I can't speak for the M&P 45 but the FNP-45 feels quite soft to me and very managable with quick follow up shots. Also I like having the 4 to 5 rounds more than the M&P 45 per magazine. I'm also not too impressed by the disassembly of the M&P line. I'm not against the M&P series. It's just that I'm not a fan of them that's all. It's not the gun for me. Double stack 45's should hold atleast 12 rounds minimum. 10 is unacceptable for a double stack magazine.

  • @saved03 The M&P disassembles like any other polymer handgun. There is no need to use the "tool" that is just a novelty. I am not real happy with 10 round magazines either, but on that note I wish all magazines were 50 rounds. It really is moot, if your tactical skills allow for fast reloading. The M&Ps/Glocks/XD's etc... are just faster in teh hand than a DA/SA trigger group. I shoot USPSA and IDPA, and the proof is in the pudding. DA/SA guns are behind the curve.

  • @saved03 FNP-9 is a well built handgun though, but just like the SIG 226, it is a outdated engineering design. Look at all the professional schools and look at what the operators and cadre prefer, I doubt you'll see ANY DA/SA guns anymore.

  • @tactical2bagpipes I don't like following the herd. The SA option is very good to have. It will always beat out a DA only firearm. The 1911 is the best pistol ever invented. It has survived for 100 years and will continue for many more years. Many SWAT operators will choose a 1911 simply because of the SA for greater accuracy. LAPD SWAT always carries them. I get about 2 pounds less on my SA trigger pull than your DA only. Lighter pull gives you greater accuracy. You cannot deny this fact.

  • @saved03 I never said anything about a DAO. Striker fired weapons are not double action. They are a partially cocked striker that allows the trigger to fininsh the process and release the striker. I shoot at least 500 rounds every week in tactial competitions and training. I own 6 1911's and STILL prefer my M&P. I shoot a less than 5 second el presedente drill with it and have no problem running with 1911 limited 10 and open class guns. I do the same with the Glock 17.

  • @tactical2bagpipes Can I see a video your sub 5 second el pres? or PM your USPSA member number so I can get your classification. A 4.9 sec el pres with 57 pnts would put you as the best Lim-10 shooter to have ever shot the el pres. Not sayin' you can't just saying it would make you one of the best shooters in the world and I am suspicious about your claim. btw, SOOH6UDAsmE is my 93% Master class run on the el pres and I'm not one of the best in the world.

  • @saved03 In addition if you shot competition and tactical matches you would also know that 1911's have the most malfunctions in the stages. I have beat shooters that were shooting $2000.00 STI / CASPIAN race 1911's because their guns went down during a stage. Don't spew the 1911 superiority stuff. I got more experience with them than you do, and they fail frequently. I have a M&P with 3000 rounds through it with ZERO malfunctions.Apex trigger and forward sear will outrun 1911.

  • @tactical2bagpipes I see it's guys like you who think they are king shit with firearms. If you like your M&P, fine but don't force it onto someone who doesn't want it. I like my FNP-45 and that is that. Why fight about it for crying out loud? It is childish and stupid. I think that you might need to grow up some and quit being such an ass about someone else's choice of firearms. If 1911's are a bad comp. gun than why does Todd Jarrett use them as his primary firearm and win many times over?

  • @saved03 maybe after you have shot a fraction of what I do, then you can have a credible opinion. Todd Jarrett shoots what Para Ordinance gives him. On that note Dave Sevigny shoots Glock and is just as fast, with many championships. I was pointing out the design disadvantages of a DA/SA trigger group and the control disadvantage of the FNP high bore axis as compared to a striker fired weapon. You can get defensive if you want, couldn't care less.

  • @tactical2bagpipes Well I guess the 1911 really isn't a good firearm since it was in military service for 75 years and was used in 4 major conflicts during the 20th Century. Todd Jarrett can go with any sponsor if he chooses to. If he didn't think or is not winning with Para's products then Todd would drop Para like a bad habit. FN did make a striker fired pistol called the FN Forty Nine. Guess what they stopped making it and guess what replaced it. The FNP line DA/SA pistol. Why is that?

  • Do you Shoot USPSA? I do. Are you a combat veteran? I am. Do you shoot IDPA? I do. Do you work in an armed profession? I do. Do you attend at least 4 tactical schools a year? I do.............. How many 1911's do you own? I own six. Let's not try to school me ok. I coundn't care less what your PREFERENCE is. I was commenting to inform anyone that doesn't know the disadvantages. If you want to get bent up about it, then get bent up I don't care. Carry a flintlock if you want.

  • @tactical2bagpipes If H&K, Sig Sauer, FNH,CZ thought that the DA/SA market was dying. Then why are they still making them? The XD/XDM lines has a higher bore axis then the FNP line. I'm not saying that the Glock and M&P pistols are junk. I just preferr the FNP over them, that's all. It is a personal preferrance. I have shot the other 2 lines of pistol but I have shot better with the FNP so I chosed it. Atleast I'm not an anti gun fruit loop.

  • @saved03 I am not trying to be a Glock snob, I am merely saying that pound for pound the Glock (M&P as well), is faster, and designed with better recoil/muzzle flip control. THe FNP-9 is a fine handgun, I would rather have one than a SIG or an HK, but the hammer/decocker concept is outdated. The less gadgets/levers/gizmos you have to sort through under duress. The less muscle memory you have to cultivate, the faster you will be.This isn't my opinion, this is fact. Do the research.

  • @tactical2bagpipes Let's agree to disagree. I do not see DA/SA as a dying market. Like I said in my earlier post. If it was, then why do those companies still make them and sell them in great numbers? Also why would FN discontinue their Forty Nine striker fire series and replace them with a DA/SA series of handguns? From a business viewpoint that would not make any sense to make a product that the public would not want. With training you can master the controlls and not get hung up on them.

  • @saved03 1.Because the military market heavily dependant on the U.S. military market requires a hammer action for any pistol to be considered in the running bid for adoption into military service. 2.The vast majority of handgun owners have no real tactical level of training so they have no real conception of the vital differences between a striker fired weapon and a hammer / firing pin action DA / DAO . An opinion without any training or analysis is just an asthetic choice not based on logic.

  • @tactical2bagpipes I know the difference between the two. Here again as you pointed out that the DA/SA market is dying and yet the market proves you wrong. If the striker fire system is superior to the hammer system. Then why does the military which will be in more tactical fire fights then any other person in America always wants a DA/SA sidearm? As you pointed out. Look I'm done with this debate. I'm not saying one is better than the other. However I will never buy into that DA/SA is dying.

  • @saved03 Hey dude your an amateur with an opinion. Don't preach at me like you have any experience based insight. Your an enthusiast at best that happened to buy a handgun. I have probably owned and sold more handguns in 6 months than you have had all your life. I spent over ten years in the Army including 2 combat deployments, and am currently a tactics instructor and work in an armed profession. I never said anything about any market dying. I said it is an obsolete concept, and outdated.

  • @tactical2bagpipes You did say that it was dying. Look let's part ways and leave it at that. Since you never answer my question. Thank You for your service to our country, by the way. The biggest thing that turn me off about you is your attitude about the whole DA/SA. I get it that you don't like them. However there are others who do and be glad they own a gun and know how to use it. Instead of relying on that joke of a 911 system. So just chill out on this debate of DA/SA ok.

  • @tactical2bagpipes I'd like to see a fraction of your shooting on your channel... cuz honestly- yer running yer mouth like a guy who relies on gun forum bravado instead of real shooting experience. I could be wrong- you could be a real bad ass pistolero. But all I see are words on a screen.

  • @tactical2bagpipes Funny, I've seen plenty of malfunctions with the M&P while my Kimber Super Match 1911, averages about 1 malfunction per 10k. I watch lots of 1911 run match after match w/o malfunction. I beat lots of shooters with their Glocks and M&Ps and alleged superior reliability with my supposedly unreliable 1911... So what does this mean? It means our personal observations don't mean shot. Sorry about that. You can believe what you like, doesn't make it fact; sorry about that

  • @saved03 I observed David Sevigny calls into question whether the SA will always beat out the DA. Sevigny has bested too many SA trigger shooters with this Glock for this to be a blanketly true statement. Lighter triggers are largely a crutch. They are forgiving. But a proper trigger press is a proper trigger press not matter the trigger's weight. Press the trigger properly and you will get the same accuracy.

  • Can you buy the thumb safety seperatly?

  • @hahaland74 i thinks so but not 100 % sure. the frame is already cut out for it!

  • @Brandon401401 , Thanks, I just bought this gun (.45acp) yesterday and shot it the same day and it was great! Im just worried because the slide doesnt look like it sits flush at the front with the polymer part and I was wondering if its like that on yours. It works fine, just worried.

  • @hahaland74 No need for it, just give your finger on the frame until you're ready to shoot

  • @hahaland74 if you check w/ s&w online, you can get this series of guns w/ or w/ the thumb safety, it's an option which one you want to buy (both styles are available for purchase).

  • You make perfect videos!! As soon as I get a gun I'm going to make videos like you do. I always see lame ass videos when they only show the person shooting or the target getting hit, but you show both. You should make a video where you shoot a fully auto at a hard target. Great vids!!

  • One handed? Nice. So, is the take away from this that the difference in recoil is negligible? I have a 9 myself, and part of my rationale for buying it instead of, say, a .40 or .45 was reduced recoil. So much for that!

  • Love the M&P!

  • That looks like the minefield in Kellys Heros.

  • How is the recoil difference?

  • You should do a table top review on the two M&P's

  • Hey Brandon, do you have any new M&P videos?

I am in the market for either a new Glock Sub-Compact or a M&P Compact. Do you have a preference between the two? Thanks

  • M&P has great fitment in the hand. Contures in the palm and comes with interchangeable grip. compared to glocks flat wide surface. My choice is M&P but everybody has their own opinion. and the 9mm and 45ACP isnt to much different in recoil. slightly different

  • @gvillepoet im right there with ya man. im a m&p lover too lol im gonna make another m&p vid soon

  • @Brandon401401 me too. A Glock guy for 15 years. Recently a M&P convert. Best ergonomics of any pistol I have owned (and that is a very long list)

  • @Brandon401401 i am a converted Glock guy. I am a M&P guy now..... I love em.... One cool aspect is that the M&P 45 fits into all the holsters that fit the M&P 9 as well (which by way for those that dont know the M&Ps fit perfectly into holsters designed for the Glock 21 including safariland and Blackhawk). Don't need to double up on the duty gear or the competition gear. Just drop the mags into the carriers and use the same holster..... prety kick ass.

  • I too agree that the M&P is better than the glock. Not taking anything away from the glock but the M&P is superior!!!

  • @gvillepoet I don't think you know what the word fitment actually means...

  • The M&P 45's recoil is so smooth and soft!

  • @mrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk yep i couldnt beleive it when i shot mine the first time, i was liek wow

  • Brandon what do you like better the glock or m&p?

  • @slfimprovement oh man now thats a hard question. probobly would be a toss up. i shoot my m&p's in competition b/c you can get a much lighter and smoother trigger pull on them. but just around the house i find myself shooting the glocks more often. if i had to choose one of them for a go to war gun id prob take a glock

  • @Brandon401401 Do you shoot IDPA? You like the M&P better for that? I've got a Glock 19 and have been thinking of getting a G34 for IDPA for the longer sight radius. Would you get a M&P over the G34?

  • @Castleknight yes i shoot idpa. ssp with my m&p pro, and cdp with my kimber team match. i would most definatly get the m&p pro series over the glock. a big majority of the guys i shoot with use a glock 34 and they all struggle with the trigger pull. you can put a ghost trigger and a lone wolf spring kit in a glock and get the trigger weight down to 3.5-4lbs but ppl still tend to shoot low and to the left. get a pro series with warren tactical sights. and a trigger job. cadillac of IDPA SSP div.

  • @slfimprovement haha im exactly the same way between these 2 guns! my edc is my m&p.40 compact and i love it but i sometimes mostly during the winter carry a glock 21 or 22 i just love both!! but for battle id grab my glock 21 for sure!! and the ole m&p 15 moe!! haha i love their ar's too! my target pistola is an M&P flat dark earth full sized! its so gorgeous or the od green glocks!! mmm so delish!!

  • A little close to the target to be shooting steel my friend...rik-o-shay off the face does not feel good...

  • Never fired a M&P....seeing the crap CHP carries.....Well, I hope they aren't the same!

  • @fullrearview hey my friend. whats CHP? thanks

  • @Brandon401401 LOL....For some reason, I dont get email updates anymore.....California Highway Patrol.....Sorry for the extended response!

  • I have the 9 and I love it. Ammo capacity is phenomenal and so is shot accuracy. Also one of the best looking semi-auto pistols IMO.

  • Man I just love it...

  • And?

  • @jfnuyen ?

  • @Brandon401401 I was wondering if you concluded anything significant from this test. I could not really tell, since you did not say anything.

  • i love the mp45

  • @famasdan Cant beat em
