You know honestly people who decide to bash others for what they love to do, especialy when they are this talented, are closed minded and afluent in jackassery. DO NOT SCREW UP THE WORLD WITH YOUR NARROW POINT OF VEIW YOU WASTE OF HUMAN DNA!!! Hettory that is gorgeous man don't stop. this is the next instrument i will try to concour..... guitar being the last. I hope I can be as fluent in the 2 handed language as yourself
The point is one person is able to make something beautiful and express it in his own way. What is it with you fascists anyways, there is no standard or reason to anything in the world, you are so stuck in the arbitrary concepts of what should or shouldn't be., but in reality things are whatever we chose to make of them with whatever time or power we have. How about any one of you go and spend half as much doing something productive as you do bitching about others who do.
i have to agree with you there. but if you have no friends then i guess this must be a really good way to waste your time. more than gawking at random youtube vids anyhow. errr...
I've heard this kind of comment before, and I don't get it. You may not like the look of the instrument, that's fine. Many tapping instruments look odd to me, too, but that may be just related to their newness. No doubt the reaction to the tuba was similar when it was new. But the second point - are you suggesting oranists and pianists, who regularly play two parts at the same time, sound like "two average players playing together?" Were keyboards designed by "people with no friends?"
Ah, okay. You mean no friends as in no one to play music with. Got it. Then again, having played in dozens of bands over the years, it is often VERY liberating and relaxing to concentrate on solo piano . . .
@baaltshuvah I see your point but it's apples and oranges in the sense that to play a note on any keyboard requires one finger, never two. The instrument itself is not compromised in any way by playing this way.
Tap instruments take a single playing technique from a parent instrument (guitar) and attempt to make it the default way to play notes. This inevitably causes the listener to relate what they're hearing back to the guitar and leads to this feeling of it sounding compromised.
@joshuajouet - I hear you, but to me, the part about relating the music back to guitar is really more the player's fault than the instrument's. Tuning, attack, choice of processing, proper setup . . . would you agree that there are a lot of factors to consider?
@baaltshuvah Don't get me wrong; I think folks who master Tap board instruments are incredible musicians, but for me it's a visual medium only, not one that can be enjoyed easily sitting at home on CD unless the performance is a wholly assimilated part of a greater composition (like a solo within a song for example).
I re-affirm that IMHO to LISTEN to this guy (not WATCH him), just to listen is to hear a result that could be better achieved by two people with an instrument each. Peace!
@joshuajouet - I do regularly listen to and enjoy some solo tapping music. I highly recommend Greg Howard's 'Stick Figures' and Larry Tuttle's 'Through The Gates'. Bear in mind that this style of playing is still very young. Keyboards have benefitted from several hundred years' worth of virtuosi, repertoire and master-grade instruments.
there are great thing! it s very courageux to try improvised with contrepoint..follow your work...i m too inside tapping polyphonique....i encourage your art...our art !!! fabien courtois ( five stars) i m the first french to have make dvd methode

This is a boxguitar, it was built by Australian luthier Stuart Box, a genius. It's not an expensive instrument, especially if compared to the Chapman Stick.

Can you play some real Bach? If you put your efforts into playing a piano you'd be able to play Bach for an hour.
ratface111 6 months ago
The intonation is off on the guitar, the frets need to be warped when you add this many strings. Decent technique though.

I love the song, very beautiful classical style. I like the guitar too.
It's not too complicated. Its like a unseparated double neck. Sounds like two guitarists that have great harmony with each other.
Imagine this thing with one huge Floyd Rose for all 12 strings with a large whammy. lol

$4000 either up or down a grand depending upon what model you get. Thats for Warr guitars though, which are Essentially the same thing.
That song is awesome, and I wish I could write something like that... Hell, maybe ill start to practice Polyrythmic tapping again...
gonnaeacha 2 years ago
@gonnaeacha Actual chapman sticks and even mobius megatars are cheaper. Chapman sticks start at I think 2100 bucks and a megatar is like 1400 and up

Does it occur to anyone else that instruments like these look like they were designed by people with no friends?
The dexterity needed to play it is impressive, but the result sounds like two average players playing together, so what's the point?
