Every company has to out perform their competitor in order to stay in business and it's the only the REAL way a company can improve themselves and their products. I'm a Mac user myself but I have nothing against PCs and I really do wanna see if and when Windows will come out with something totally new and innovative. Somebody needs to put Apple in check because lately seems like their quality control is falling and this scares a bit.
i dont get why they call it PC (personal computer) i've seen mac geeks calling mac desktops PC's. for me i love both windows 7 and mac. i've been with windows since win 2000. i have a macbook(bought it b4 a year) and a windows 7 desktop. as for linux i think its great but i really dont have a legit reason to switch to linux. but if u have a no os on ur machine then go for it!! i love linux mint its great.
@Secondearfh - While macs aren't as vulnerable there are still viruses and spyware out there for it, so it is worth getting some AV for OSX, to be safe.

I've owned varius macs for years and they are impervious to viruses because of the architecture. My friend and I have never once been in threat of a virus. i don't have virus protection either. Mac is preferred throughout my industry (Graphic Design) and is also the holy grail of audio production. High-end video rendering is also often performed on Macs. The only reason you would produce video on a Windows machine is budget.

Mac User for me/ Neutral. I guess i would get a Mac because i can afford it, and when i describe what i need in a computer for college and writing my book i basically describe a Mac. Personally, im gonna get Windows 7 or XP to run on my Mac for bootcamp.
I have never really used a Mac (besides the Apple 2E at school), I would buy a mac if it runs properly without pissing me off every 2 minutes. I hate windows and I have never even touched a mac in the last 20 years. one thing to point out, apple was the last one to get widgets, like, you said a linux distro had it first, well, longhorn had it as-well before macs... they both copy each-other equally, but nobody points that out.... and now I don't feel quite as crazy for saying it because there is another person in this entire world that knows this...
Microsoft only makes the operating system, they don't really make hardware. The only reason OSX isn't on more computers, because you have to get the computer from Apple. Now, apple isn't the cheapest company to buy hardware from, and most certainly not the best bang for your buck. If Apple allowed OSX to be installed on other computers it would than begin to be less of a great operating system, they would have to begin to perfect it and optimize it to run on all sorts of hardware.
I have used macs running osx and windows. I have used PCs running windows and OSX. As an operating system OSX is much more polished, and is more capable out of the box, and much more user friendly. However you are more boxed in and less customize on a software and hardware level with most macintosh machines. PCs are made by a variety of companys and it's extremely hard to bash or insult PCs hardware, since it's so open. I personally have never had windows fail in my extensive use.
When you said "all that crap" referring to macs, I thought 'EXACTLY". Now I don't dislike macs because all the people who use them are fags...I mean, I actually think that may not be 100% true, but I hate them for what they did to my life for a period of 6 months when as a photographer I decided to use a mac to see what the hoo-haa was. And my goodness, did I want to like that thing. But it just fucked me at every turn.

2:30 you forgot windows ME. but i dont blame u, It sucks. I did use OSX at my old school for about 6 years, and I just recently gotta macbook about 5 months ago. But, the 'family' computer is a PC and my brothers computer is a PC. I personally like OSX better but I would use Windows when I had to.
I personally just don't favor windows os's because they have given me a decent amount of problems and it frustrates the heck out of me (sometimes). If windows was more reliable, I would definitely be using it more often. But I just happen to like macs better because I am going into the field of digital media where deadlines and work loads are tough. So I need a fast, easy, and most of all reliable system to work on.
Nicely done. I have one thing to say about the windows can run on anything.. I agree you can get it about anything, but it's not as good as doing that compared to Linux/Unix. It's just the different kernel designs. Also I bet you probably already know this OS X and up is Unix based. I myself use all 3 Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, and Macintosh).

Mac is worth the price in the long run, I have never had to spend more money yet to do something so it's misleading to say they are more expensive. Macs are cheaper in the long run. PC's are far better for hot-rodding and games. If you produce music like I do the Mac is king. I don't think either platform is better they are both good for certain things.

I'm option 4 I think (at least I think it was number 4), I am soon to be option 2 though, where my primary computer is going to be a Macbook Pro. Running OSX 10 Snow Leopard, and Windows Vista Ultimate. (just because it's the only windows that I have a license for).

And windows is a corporation that is exclusively related to the software, that is why they are open, because they don't make computers that are windows computers, they provide the OS to all computers so they cant say, sonny can have it, apple can't, Hp can have it, Dell can't.
Just a comment on the "they are not open" statement.
These are just market options, mac has its own operation system and assembles their own hardware, meaning, you can not buy a HP mac, or a sony mac. On the other hand when we talk about pcs we are talking about 2 things. The pc technology is IBM, and they allow anybody that pays them fore their idea to assemble pcs and sell them, HP, Sony, Dell, toshiba...etc.
Also Steve Jobs said himself "Ultimately it comes down to taste. It comes down to trying to expose yourself to the best things that humans have done and then try to bring those things in to what youre doing. Well you know what your on about anyway unlike alot of people ive heard. Basically just as you said hardware wise Macs and PCs are more or less the same apart from the bios. To be honest I like the Mac OS and id have it on my PC but my big problem with Apple is 1: they are over priced especially here in the UK 2:Apple dont give me the option of having the OS without the hardware or even the Hardware without the OS. So just as you said its not open! I agree with you about the copying argument!

i prefer PC over mac..... just because if you have PC and enough money (or a good bitorrent) you could get any program.... I mean... Mac is good because it becomes stock with great things and it has great programs. although... PC has programs that go past those programs.... but chances are they cost alot more. But with a PC you can get it to be anything alot more then a mac. if you have the money. plus you can get alot more hardware to help you with everything too. that wouldnt work on a mac.

Mac User for me/ Neutral. I guess i would get a Mac because i can afford it, and when i describe what i need in a computer for college and writing my book i basically describe a Mac. Personally, im gonna get Windows 7 or XP to run on my Mac for bootcamp.

I have never really used a Mac (besides the Apple 2E at school), I would buy a mac if it runs properly without pissing me off every 2 minutes. I hate windows and I have never even touched a mac in the last 20 years. I seriously think I will be buying a mac once this PC has seen it's better days; which will probably be real soon, because I'll probably take a BAT to it soon. How I found this video was part of my contemplation process. I am not a gamer (except Civ) so what ever..

one thing to point out, apple was the last one to get widgets, like, you said a linux distro had it first, well, longhorn had it as-well before macs... they both copy each-other equally, but nobody points that out.... and now I don't feel quite as crazy for saying it because there is another person in this entire world that knows this...

Microsoft only makes the operating system, they don't really make hardware. The only reason OSX isn't on more computers, because you have to get the computer from Apple. Now, apple isn't the cheapest company to buy hardware from, and most certainly not the best bang for your buck. If Apple allowed OSX to be installed on other computers it would than begin to be less of a great operating system, they would have to begin to perfect it and optimize it to run on all sorts of hardware.

I have used macs running osx and windows. I have used PCs running windows and OSX. As an operating system OSX is much more polished, and is more capable out of the box, and much more user friendly. However you are more boxed in and less customize on a software and hardware level with most macintosh machines. PCs are made by a variety of companys and it's extremely hard to bash or insult PCs hardware, since it's so open. I personally have never had windows fail in my extensive use.

When you said "all that crap" referring to macs, I thought 'EXACTLY". Now I don't dislike macs because all the people who use them are fags...I mean, I actually think that may not be 100% true, but I hate them for what they did to my life for a period of 6 months when as a photographer I decided to use a mac to see what the hoo-haa was. And my goodness, did I want to like that thing. But it just fucked me at every turn.

There are 100's Linux distribution ...
Linux even has Time Machine it's called "Back in Time"...
Most people don't know this, but they DELL makes PC's with Linux ubuntu and compiz fusion already installed... and many are cheaper than standard PC's...
Linux is used every where, even Google uses it...

I personally just don't favor windows os's because they have given me a decent amount of problems and it frustrates the heck out of me (sometimes). If windows was more reliable, I would definitely be using it more often. But I just happen to like macs better because I am going into the field of digital media where deadlines and work loads are tough. So I need a fast, easy, and most of all reliable system to work on.

Nicely done. I have one thing to say about the windows can run on anything.. I agree you can get it about anything, but it's not as good as doing that compared to Linux/Unix. It's just the different kernel designs. Also I bet you probably already know this OS X and up is Unix based. I myself use all 3 Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, and Macintosh).

You really think all PC users are gay? Sorry if I am the one generalizing now - gays usually buy expensive branded clothing for an example.. Mac is the exact same thing within the computer industry... So really I guess the fact that buying something you can get for half the price for the same hardware (not at all the same software benefits), just because it's white and has an apple on it, you're willing to pay an extra 50%? Mac is worth the price in the long run, I have never had to spend more money yet to do something so it's misleading to say they are more expensive. Macs are cheaper in the long run. PC's are far better for hot-rodding and games. If you produce music like I do the Mac is king. I don't think either platform is better they are both good for certain things.

I'm option 4 I think (at least I think it was number 4), I am soon to be option 2 though, where my primary computer is going to be a Macbook Pro. Running OSX 10 Snow Leopard, and Windows Vista Ultimate. (just because it's the only windows that I have a license for).

@ikcti sorry to respond to a comment 1 year old. But most causal games can run on a Mac, the Mac is def not your choice for a gamer. I personally play older RTS games like Red Alert and Age of Empires and i run them on OS X or just XP i have booted onto my company.

macs are okay but i dont really like apple to much. I think macs are more so for general ppl then the enthusists cause you cant build your own mac and theirs loads of more programs for the pc. But for the general web browser macs can do that but so can linux and windows. Im a pc, and i dont really care for macs but when i use one its decent just the lack of programs bug me.

And windows is a corporation that is exclusively related to the software, that is why they are open, because they don't make computers that are windows computers, they provide the OS to all computers so they cant say, sonny can have it, apple can't, Hp can have it, Dell can't.

Just a comment on the "they are not open" statement.
These are just market options, mac has its own operation system and assembles their own hardware, meaning, you can not buy a HP mac, or a sony mac. On the other hand when we talk about pcs we are talking about 2 things. The pc technology is IBM, and they allow anybody that pays them fore their idea to assemble pcs and sell them, HP, Sony, Dell, toshiba...etc.

Hmmm, i think that OSX has the edge on Xp or windows 7 right now but as you said it depends what your using it for.
What i see is a Mac that costs over £1000 and is awsome and a PC that is £300 and is ok.
I think alot of the reason mac is so good is because you get what you pay for.
You cant compare two things with such a price difference.

i consider myself as a pc gamer and i have no reason to own a mac ... but if mac would be cheapier and it would be more compatible to other software and hardware, not to mention that (at least i think so) "stupid blah blah stuff like wellcome screen at first boot up and ... the alert "Something happened." i would really like it, the visual layout is rly good and it is simple to use ... but im a pc guy i dunno much about macs anyway ... they look nice :D

Well you know what your on about anyway unlike alot of people ive heard. Basically just as you said hardware wise Macs and PCs are more or less the same apart from the bios. To be honest I like the Mac OS and id have it on my PC but my big problem with Apple is 1: they are over priced especially here in the UK 2:Apple dont give me the option of having the OS without the hardware or even the Hardware without the OS. So just as you said its not open! I agree with you about the copying argument!

i prefer PC over mac..... just because if you have PC and enough money (or a good bitorrent) you could get any program.... I mean... Mac is good because it becomes stock with great things and it has great programs. although... PC has programs that go past those programs.... but chances are they cost alot more. But with a PC you can get it to be anything alot more then a mac. if you have the money. plus you can get alot more hardware to help you with everything too. that wouldnt work on a mac.
