@mattboyd2645 Since cod2? No do research. Cod2 Used the original IW 2 Engine. Since Then they have further improved engine for example Cod 4 used the IW 3 engine. MW2 used the IW 4. MW3 is using a more enhanced version of the previous engine and is called IW 5.0 They have done many things to help improved the engine such as a locked 60 frames per seconds and larger maps those are the only two things I can list at the top of my head. The only thing they didn't improve was the graphics.
